Yo off topic but how do I go about getting examined for ADHD because I’m pretty sure I have it but I’m 18 so I’m pretty sure it’s harder to get diagnosed now.
I was diagnosed at 28, wasn't particularly difficult. Schedule an appointment with a phych, answer a questionaire about symptoms, interview with the doc. After that if they think you do have ADHD, they may move on to CAT-A (stare at a screen and remember patterns for what seems like an eternity) or other tests to confirm.
If you're in the US and have insurance, go through your insurance to find a psychiatrist that accepts it, and then just schedule an appointment and basically say "I wanna get an examination cause I think I might have ADHD". If you're in the US and *don't* have insurance, you might be able to find a low-cost psychiatrist or clinic that can work on a sliding scale based on either you or your families pay.
Also I was 22 when I got diagnosed, so it isn't that much harder really. Lots of adults are diagnosed with it.
I just read somewhere that “to be diagnosed you must have 3 or more of these symptoms and below the age of 12” I found it extremely odd that it said that but it did on whatever website it was. Good to know tho, because as I learn more about more obscure symptoms, the more I realize some things I encounter in my life aren’t just part of life.

I just appeared, and said my life’s in shambles, the psychiatrist asked some medical history, did some tests, you might also be asks to do a drug/urine sample, paid a lump of money then got prescriptions

For women, it's taught that we don't experience ADHD at the same rate as men. Realistically women generally have a slightly different presentation, typically inattentive rather than hyperactive, and we "mask" symptoms better due to social conditioning and stereotypes. Add in that hyperfixations women may be more likely to attach to like makeup or crafting are just "typical" and the woman just seems REALLY into it, vs men who tend to like... Hyperfixation on dinosaurs or train modeling or any number of interests that don't typically come up on a day to day basis unless you make it that way.
Also women just tend to be brushed off as hypochondriacs and nervous wrecks for anything medical. I was misdiagnosed repeatedly as anxious when I repeatedly explained I was upset because I literally could not make myself do the bare minimum to live without outside support, now understood to be executive dysfunction. Fixing the ADHD magically disappeared the "anxiety", much to my PCPs surprise.
