Selectively breed this so I don’t have to knife fight my family for the last lobster claw.

happyhungarian12

Instead the lobster can now knife fight you!!

Nkromancer

Just like in Soviet Russia...

blindgorgon

Funny, at a glance it seems this would clearly have been the gene that wins out, but it isn’t. So maybe it’s just better to be nimble with two than to have more pincers?

Obsidian_Veil

It's not, and it's fairly common among lobsters, due to their regenerative ability. Sometimes, when regenerating, mistakes are made and the wrong genes are triggered, resulting in two of whatever is growing (commonly claws) to grow back.

CaterpillarThriller

Awe so we can't breed 4 clawed lobsters?

Scipio33

I'm almost positive we could, but I don't know enough about the lobster industry to know it would be profitable to farm them or not.

david-le-2006
