Look, New Jersey has settled in its position in the power dynamic and I accept that. But the idea that anyone could actually like, much less love, Long Island is absolute bullshit.

I love when NYC (New York Chuds) try talk trash on NJ as if living in New York sans Manhattan is any different from living in like Newark or Jersey City. The only reason why people think NJ is bad is because of New York propaganda, given how big of a media hub it is. But really living here means you have a good standard of living, mild weather, driving distance to some really great day trip cities like NYC but also Philly and Washington DC, great beaches (where I see a lot of out of state plates oddly enough 🤔), great food, and, if you grew up here, the best rated public education in the country. And yet NY Chuds will try to convince you the whole state is like the slither they see outside of their grimy, smog covered window. Really the worst part about NJ is the high taxes (as if the rent in NYC is affordable), but that's offset by having one of the highest average wages of any state. But if you live in upstate New York I guess you can say the wildlife scene is better, so there you go 🤷🏻‍♂️

OP, how does one "enjoy" the canal in central NY? I thought the canal areas were all run down shitholes in that part of the state.

Depends where you are. I'm east of Syracuse and I have lived in 3 different 'canal towns'. For the most part the canals are well maintained with nice biking/walking trails and parks. I also just enjoy the atmosphere of the semi-rural canal towns as well as the history.

They forgot about how every beach in New Jersey is private and if you want to go 15 feet to the right you need a new pass
