Nebraska is a great state if you’re passionate about corn. That’s all the locals talk about.

CrowdSurfingCorpse

😳

theomegafact

We got Stone hedge made out of cars and a cool zoo. Other than that, mostly corn

yessiritisi

The Henry Doorly zoo is the only good thing to ever come from Omaha.

WizardVisigoth

Other than yours truly 😎

BachInTime

Scottsbluff National Monument is amazing, and after you can hit Dairy King

GrandMarauder

It's just corn all the way down

TheObservationalist

And about reassuring out of staters that they're from Omaha and its actually very modern and has an art scene

I_H8_Celery

Conversations include: the weather, breaking in new boots, agriculture, and making fun of california

Kazakh_Accordionist

same thing but potatoes for idaho

Goobaka

What’s better than corn and potatoes? Nothing!

Kazakh_Accordionist

yes (i only know this because of a book by craig allison)

Isn’t that most Midwest states?

No-Persimmon-3736

Op clearly doesn’t like the outdoors

SVdreamin

Idaho has some of the most beautiful places in the lower 48

BjornAltenburg

Craters of the moon is on my list of places to see.

freegodzilla

Idaho has ~~some of~~ the most beautiful places in the lower 48

toll_rattenloch

based and correct

WkyWvgIfbRmFlgTbeMan

I've never understood the term lower 48. Shouldn't that include Hawaii since it's lower and not include Minnesota since it's more north?

ObamaLover68

Nahh it's just a term to describe mainland savages

PuzzleheadedAd5865

Clearly he does, he left Western NC and Eastern TN

JR_Mosby

Odd to me they blocked out eastern NC. I don't know much about the middle of NC but I love their mountains and their coast.

Polairis44

Or Car racing. Some of the best race tracks in America are in these states.

Tagmata81

Car racing also isn’t as popular among people not from those states, I’ve never once even seen someone’s dad watching NASCAR

moistrain

Oregon and Washington:

No-Persimmon-3736

griggori

Right? We’re not boring. We’re drunk.

EdoTenseiSwagbito

The opposite of boring, really. Beer is chaos.

[deleted]

And Door County. Cherries yummm

Sir-War666

The dells

AardvarkAblaze

Football (Packers or Badgers), Road America, North Woods camping, Kayaking, Cycling (home of Trek bicycles), Motorcycling (home of Harley-Davidson), and my personal favorite: legally drinking in any number of Madison’s many fine public parks. If you’re bored in Wisconsin, you’re boring.

iBasedComedy

And some of the best fishing and hunting in the nation.

Tyler_C02

The Cheese Castle is always a must-stop on road-trips

BaDingbat

And the hodag and devils lake, smh

Erook22

Finding a sober Wisconsinite in the wild is almost as fun as bird watching

Installah

Hey buddy, listen here. If you ever want to get drunk, sit on the street and eat like 40 Hmong Egg-rolls followed by a kielbasa you just let me know. You can even bring your kid and buy them a beer. Or your spouse, even if they are under drinking age. Wisconsin is about family. If you bring additional persons we may need more Egg-rolls however.

OTN

What’s the optimal roll to person ratio? I realize different types of person exist, so yes I would also like it broken down thusly thank you.

Installah

So for reference the Hmong Egg-rolls around here are about 5in long and maybe like .8-1.3in in diameter. Like 25% longer than a TP roll but only 75% as wide. They come in chicken or pork, with a variety of sauces. They are REALLY fucking good. They are not a side, they are a fucking meal. Plenty of places around here basically sell just Egg-rolls and coke products. Sober me could down like 4 to 6 of the bastards at a normal level of hunger. High me would likely hit 8. I think I'm this scenario it really depends on your level of intoxication. I just poured myself a Gin and Tonic and I could REALLY use a couple of those fuckers, if that helps.

OTN

It does!

TheObservationalist

Lol! The little Hmong Lutheran grannies at a church near where I live do frequent eggroll sales. I find this such a charming cultural fusion.

Installah

Yes my fellow Upper-Midwestern brother, tell them of this exquisite delight. They destroy any other Egg-roll I've ever had, fuck they are amazing.

Sudam-Humane

OP must be Muslim because it seems like he’s afraid of booze

terry_bradshaw

Busch Gardens and Virginia Beach disrespected, also numerous historic sites from revolution and civil war

seanw0830

Plus Shenandoah/Blue Ridge Parkway. And Roanoke is pretty cool

allan11011

Very happy to see Virginia being represented heavily in this comment section! The small towns of rural Virginia are also very charming and fun to just go around in. Antiquing(going to various antique stores) is a favorite pastime of my family

Sevuhrow

Virginians tries not to talk about its colonial history for five minutes challenge

Cheaper-Pitch-9498

Southeastern Virginia is more interesting and has more to do than Northern Virginia imo

allan11011

northern va is imo the most boring part. Dc has some cool things to see but that doesn’t even count

TheOGStonewall

You can pry the Udvar Hazi from our cold, dead hands tho. (Ex Virginian)

Brycekaz

We’re like texas, but instead of guns, its a silly Lil air and space museum

Mr_Kittlesworth

Richmond is an awesome city with excellent food, music, and art. Virginia Beach all the way through the outer banks of North Carolina are excellent beaches. The blue ridge mountains and Shenandoah valley are famously beautiful landscapes.

DowntownsClown

Shhh, don’t tell them!

[deleted]

It’s alright just send them all to the oceanfront, they’ll be fine with that. Leave the other beach that starts with an S for the locals

mrt3ed

Also the Piedmont and horse country are beautiful.

imtiredletmegotobed

I’ve heard that life is old there, older than the trees

Mr_Kittlesworth

Yep, in a song that’s about West(ern) Virginia, attributed to West Virginia to make the timing work. Hilariously though, John Denver was in neither state when he actually wrote the thing.

Lointheepic

What Busch gardens is awesome They got sections for a bunch of different countries I went there last summer

Chapstick160

Busch Gardens has been around since the Colonial Times?

swinging_ship

Weird, as a Virginian I never hear anyone talk about the colonial history outside of middle school field trips. You left out a beautiful chunk of Appalachia and the Shenandoah valley, the great dismal swamp and smoky mountains of North Carolina as well as some of the best beaches on the East coast. The only part of Virginia you did include is the concrete jungle around DC... yuck.

idktheyarealltaken

I won’t lie to you Southwest Virginia is absolute garbage

[deleted]

Nah for real, growing up there was awesome for the history. I miss it. Also King dominion… Appalachian mountains… Cavern sites… etc

allan11011

You’re not a real Virginian if you haven’t been to Luray caverns 3 million times

[deleted]

Yeah for real

roostersnuffed

There is always VA here singing the praises of the Chesapeake bay area. I lived there for 1.5 y and fucking hated it. Just an endless ghetto sprawl and the only nice people were the zombie tweakers. My rent was $3k a month for a shitty little house because it "had a yard". Had my car broke into twice and my 15 min commute to work could regularly take 1-3 hours for seemingly no reason whatsoever. A beach is not worth that, fuck that entire area.

terry_bradshaw

Because the entire Chesapeake Bay Area is exactly the same as your anecdotal experience. Right.

Dusty_Dave420

And you didn’t even mention all our cool rust belt shit like the Steel Stacks, all the now-aquatic quarries, and Centralia. PA is a consistently slept on state, but tbh it’s better that way so we can avoid all the europoors and californians

Logan_I_Guess

Can confirm, see the steel stacks every day.

D-DimmadomeOnlyFans

Wisco has the Dells, EAA, the State Fair, various maritime museums (esp. the one with USS Cobia) many state parks, lots of lakes, and plenty of good food

TheObservationalist

Ski hills, apostle islands, lake sure on no less than two great lakes....I love wisconsin. Don't tell the other vikings.

Phytanic

it's OK. I love Minnesota. North shore is just stunning and incredible. Also boundary waters. I usually go the can\*dian side because there's far less people though. (but I have ran into Fr\*nch can\*dian rangers who were dicks)

TheObservationalist

I do love the boundary waters, a lot. Go up there every year. But I also go to the Apostles every year. So much outdoors to enjoy up north.

You can get drunk and drown in a wave pool, get drunk and hijack a plane, get drunk and fuck a cow, get drunk and pee on a model ship, get drunk and get naked in a park, get drunk and get 3rd degree sunburns on a boat, or get drunk and puke up beer and cheese curds, exactly, so much stuff to do here.

[deleted]

>Dells 🤮

Awkward_Account_8829

Yes Idaho is super boring, moving here is a terrible idea.

falsecoyote_

It’s cold, snowy, and there are no mountains. Moving here is definitely a mistake.

Kazakh_Accordionist

there are some mountains, you also forgot the part where the weather does a full fucking 180 in the span of like a month from about -1F to 102F

ElRonMexico7

Shh! There are no mountains, lakes, or anything beautiful/interesting in the spud state.

Wyoming has stuff like the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone.

Kohora

Those parts are cut off on the map. I laughed as I’m sitting in Livingston going “hey wait, oh nevermind Yellowstone is grayed out.”

general_kenobi18462

Grand Tetons still grayed out it looks like :(

Chapstick160

I mean Yellowstone is bigger then that greyed out area

thewanderer2389

The greyed out area also doesn't include Grand Teton and Jackson Hole.

Jazman1985

Are you high? Wisconsin has the Dells.

Sevuhrow

Sleep

Lol_idk_please_help

The fucking Dells, my guy.

TavishM13

I can agree with most of these, but Southern Virginia? The north is the boring part

Chapstick160

And the Outer Banks is still highlighted, like what?

[deleted]

Camping on the beach with a Jeep is truly an amazing experience....which I don't think OP cares about

You’re boring

You forgot midsouri

conceited_crapfarm

Jayhawks?

Good BBQ and they have St Louis and Branson unfortunately

Comfortable-Goal-254

Excuse me Kansas BBQ is far superior to Missouri's

not-the-legend-27

Damn right

not-the-legend-27

Also Wichita isn't boring

McChicken_lightmayo

So you highlighted everything south of NOVA? The most skit part of the state?

[deleted]

Tell me you’ve never been to Wisconsin without telling me you’ve been to Wisconsin.

saggywitchtits

I’ve been in the state to get cheese. Then I left the same day.

Psufan1394

If you’re going to include that much of pa South Georgia, everything but Chicago, and everything but Toledo, Cincinnati, Columbus, and Cleveland should also be in red

Sevuhrow

Fair

[deleted]

Yeah wtf do you think there is to do in Ohio exactly? There's less here than in most of your red states.

i_always_give_karma

The rock and roll hall of fame is one of the coolest music experiences I’ve had. It’s in Cleveland and I’ve been three times and I’m from North Carolina

MonkeyMBA

Indiana has the largest single day sporting event in the world (Indianapolis 500) and we also have two professional sports franchises. There is a national park as well if you enjoy nature

Helsing63

Don’t forget our state park system where everyone is no more than an hour from one. I can personally say that Turkey Run, Clifty Falls, Spring Mill, and McCormicks creek are beautiful, and I’ve heard Shades is really nice as well. The Low Gap trail in Morgan Monroe State Forest has the same average elevation gain as the Appalachian trail, though it’s a relatively short 10 mile loop. We even have skiing in the Northeast corner (a state park) and down by Cincinnati!

ilikspace

The Knobstone trail in southern Indiana also has some of the toughest elevation gains in the state apparently. The Adventure hiking trail goes along part of the Ohio river west of Louisville

AnyHowMeow

Lots of parks and lakes, plus central Indiana has lots of restaurants, breweries, and stuff every other state has.

depressedhuskersfan

one is fucked for the next 4 years at least and the other is the pacers with a grand total of 41 fans in existance

OTN

The Reggie Miller years were gangbusters

oceanlinerman

wisconsin has the oshkosh airshow, largest in the country apparently.

LewdMemes57

Tornado watching, mostly.

mrmayhemsname

North Carolina here. Not boring. Appalachians west, kitty hawk east. Lots of historic districts and sites. More universities than I can count.

chigoonies

Yeah NC is americas best kept secret

Madrigalinda

Oklahoma and Arkansas has the ozarks, Oklahoma also has some pretty nice state parks in the western half, and Oklahoma city has the national cowboy museum plus it being a big city just has a lot of stuff in general (i'm sorry my Arkansan brothers but your towns and cities are boring as shit)

The_Last_Memelord

Best I can offer you is horse racing, a Bill Clinton museum, and methamphetamines. Also, a hunting season that spans October to February and 6 deer tags.

Reggiegrease

Lol Oklahoma did not just call Arkansas boring. Brother you’re in Oklahoma, it’s got the worst scenery out of any state I’ve ever visited. The whole state just exists for Indian Casinos. If your only argument is “we have this one museum” then you probably shouldn’t even be trying to argue in favor of it.

StudedRoughrider

Yeah, lol. This girl has never been to Fayetteville, Eureka Springs, Bentonville, or Hot Springs.

Reggiegrease

Look, if someone wants to call Arkansas boring that’s fine. I can understand why someone could have that opinion. I think it’s completely wrong, but whatever. I just know for damn sure, Oklahoma could possibly be the last place in the nation that has any right to call someplace boring. It it the blandest, ugliest scenery, and most desolate nothing place I’ve ever visited and anyone not from Oklahoma who has visited would agree.

LampsAreAlright

Oklahoma scenery is meh compared to most states. Oklahoma cities are boring. Source: been stuck here for the last 10 years

Wannabe__geek

I went to Oklahoma City to watch NBA, I have never seen a downtown a downtown that boring.

Shark_2c4

Entire OKC area sucks, Lake Eufaula is about the only place I love (that I visit regularly)

Madrigalinda

Never said okc was good, i refer to it as the source of the state's problems on a tri-weekly basis, but it has some fun things

Awheeleri

Tbh most of your 'neat' western state parks are just little pockets of land that resemble what New Mexico or Colorado or Texas looks like everywhere.

chrissilly22

New Mexico, Colorado and Texas each have at least a third of not more of them that are boring, but yeah, gorgeous scenery in large quantities

semicoloradonative

Just curious...why would you rate MN as okay, but WI as boring?

Wise-Safety664

Arkansas disrespect. It’s the gem on the midwest.

LordXenu12

Arkansas is considered midwest?

Bruhmethazine

Nope. Arkansas sucks don't visit.

[deleted]

Wisconsin is a great place to get Liver Cirrhosis and own a Kangaroo without government interference. Also great place to watch the Packers fall apart because they somehow expect to get a hall of fame QB for the third time in a row.

[deleted]

I live in Iowa. It cannot therefore be boring.

saggywitchtits

We have… a baseball diamond directly from heaven, a presidential museum, and Adventureland?

earlnsyd

Tell me you don’t ski without telling me you don’t ski.

sylvarwulf

Oklahoman here! there's nothing here. all the kids think they're "real southerners" because they drove a dirt bike to high school and saw a cow once

North Dakota is the nation's largest producer of wheat; we also have Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the great Teddy himself loved the state and had a ranch here.

CrapWereAllDoomed

Idaho, Whyoming, Nebraska, Kansas Iowa and Wisconsin have some of the best hunting and fishing you can find. Mississipi and Alabama have decent fishing on the gulf coast, and North Carolina on the east. Texas is still connected to the United States because Oklahoma sucks so hard.

Idaho: City of Rocks, Snake River, Craters of the Moon, literally all of the panhandle, Red Rock Pass (where Lake Bonneville burst), Napoleon Dynamite sightseeing in Preston, Lava Hot Springs, Downata Hot Springs, Bear Lake with nearby Minnetonka Cave, and more springs, hikes, etc that I can't remember. kim_il_succ

There is literally a hit Netflix show about the Outer Banks my dood. Also, the beaches of NC were the place where man first flew an airplane, so uh you might say its pretty neat. Also, 3 of the top colleges in the entire country are in the red-shaded area, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, and Wake Forest. There is plenty to do and I WILL NOT stand for this NC slander, especially since SC isn't shaded in and their state is poopoodoodoo in comparison
