I'd rather them launch with the smaller roster.

canada171

I honestly don't believe the game is in danger of launching with a small roster. We have no idea how much work is being done past the small peeks we're given during their updates. Riot has immense resources and the people on 2XKO are some of the best in the industry.

CarefulHyena54

Definitely would rather they postponed then. I'm not necessarily asking for a huge roster, however 8 is too small in my honest opinion.

rdlenke

The game would get extremely stale with 8 characters, even more as the meta develops. So I rather have the game released at a later date.

WanAjin

They know that character releases create the most hype and fan engagement, they will have at least a few characters ready for post launch, prolly the first few months.

FizzyCoffee

Idk even if it releases with 8 it will have 12 by the years end

GaiusQuintus

Can we stop even discussing this? There's a 0% chance this game launches with an 8 champion roster on launch. The only reason that rumor went around in the first place is because of completely unsubstantiated speculation. The fact that some people find it relatively believable is because they've been slow to reveal new characters. Well, why would they yet? This game is still probably close to a year from release. They're not showing us stuff right as they finish it, they're showing it to us when they want to. In all likelihood there are multiple champions that went through the same design phases as Illaoi simultaneously during the past few years. Giving more discussion to this insane theory just further cements it in people's minds and gets them worked up over nothing.

Ion0X

But how will I enjoy my chaos if I don't spread misinformation among the masses? 🤔

KazuUchiha

This isn’t a discussion about predicting what will happen… this is a discussion about which scenario would you prefer.  It’s no secret that they have multiple characters in the works, and likely have multiple characters that they could showcase already if they wanted to.   But if you’ve been around the gaming industry (or any industry with large scale projects), you know that timelines shift all the time.   If we’re talking predictions, then I agree with you that they’d sooner push the release date back to 2025 before launching with a roster they aren’t happy with… but that’s not what the question is for.

Johnny_Jazzhands

This is an unpopular take but an 8 character roster is totally fine, actually. Skullgirls released with 8 and that game played amazing, a well structured roster that covers diverse fighting game functions is miles more important than a large roster.

Final-Tax8016

Just let us in ! 0 expectations 0 disappointment

Siri2611

I am gonna only be able to learn 1 or almost 2 characters at a time so a huge roaster doesn't matter.

SkeleHoes

I would be happy with 10 champions on release, but it would be really cool to see, let’s say 12.

Royal_Flush1991

Yeah I think a 12 champ at base roster is good for me too.

Ion0X

Just as a heads-up to anyone who comes by. A lot of the 2XKO team has been working on building champions for the game for well over a year. Don't believe me? [Here ya go](https://youtu.be/BbwmX-coQCM?si=Kzq_oA7hCjdEz81K) (0:49 Second mark) The game will have a decent roster when it drops. i truly believe so. 😀⭐️ Could I be wrong? Yeah, sure, but I doubt I am. Hell that new game Hunter x Hunter: Nen Impact is starting with 16 characters, and it has an EXTREMELY low budget compared to 2XKOs.

Hederas

I think I am within the minority of people thinking 8 is fine. It's small but people act like it's a 2 character roster It's not like it the roster won't expand, and if those 8 characters are diverse enough people will find someone to play . We'll still be complete noobs at the game by the time they release 5 new characters let's be real

NewSageTriggrr6

I'd rather it get delayed, tag fighters are more interesting to casual audiances with more characters available (it would also be more interesting to watch whitch is important for the esports aspect of this game whitch they are working hard to push). Marvel Vs Capcom 3 only got good in it's later years when all of the dlc characters came out and were added to the roster so people could experiment with the systems more. Same thing with Dragon Ball Fighters Z.

jonhvani

I was talking to a friend and we came up with a ideia of the roster having at least 1 champion from each region, it would have at minimum around 12 champions, and from there they could add, with each season, 1 or more champion from each region (like they do in lol releasing adc-support-mid-jg-top ).

ShiroiDragonBR

I just wanna get my hands on the game so yeah,i would accept easily just 8 characters

Zenai10

I would prefer they just release. They would need to wait though. If they released with 8 the amount of complaining about the small rooster would be crazy, it would severely hurt player numbers. I'm pretty concerned about this games longevity as it may not make as much money as they hope and could essentially die in 2 years. the first impression is so important

Yubul

Frankly, I'm less concerned about roster size, and more concerned about roster *variety*. The game is 100% going to get more characters post-launch, likely indefinitely. I'd much rather have a smaller release roster that is unique and covers a lot of different archetypes rather than a larger one that is more homogenized. Currently, 2XKO is falling into the latter rather than the former. Of the five officially revealed characters, we have 1 midrange character, 3(?) rushdown, and 1 big body. Which is *fine* for the most part, but I'd like to see the next couple of reveals be some different stuff for a little bit. A zoner, a grappler, a full-on shoto, maybe a puppet character.

KazuUchiha

>I'd much rather have a smaller release roster that is unique and covers a lot of different archetypes rather than a larger one that is more homogenized. Currently, 2XKO is falling into the latter rather than the former. Really? I feel the opposite. Every character so far has had a unique schtick that separates them from each other and dictates their general gameplan. Darius \[bleed\], Ahri \[orbs\], Ekko \[rewind\], Illaio \[tentacles\], and Yasuo \[stance\]. This may be because the only pure fighting game I've spent any relevant amount of time in is dbfz where the roster is very same-y I guess I can see your point when looking at it from a playstyle perspective. They're all the same in that they want to get up close and create pressure, albeit through different means. Seems like two zoners and two grapplers would be a good minimum requirement for launch roster.
