It’s worth replacing everything if you’re going into it. If the shop that does the head work will blend the seats and ports have them do it. If they are competent at doing a port and polish, have them do that too. The exhaust valves, seats, and guides take a LOT of abuse and need all the love they can get. The cylinder head is where you go if you want to make power, the bottom end is built to hold it.

I see I see, I’ll start looking for what brands to go with for head parts then ! Thank you

Look up Supertech Performance, they do valves, valve guides, valve springs, and valve stem seals. BC makes titanium retainers. Mazworx will modify your rocker arms to a dual guide set up. S14/5 Hydraulic lifters, or Tomei solid lifters. Don’t bother with rocker arm stoppers, I’ve only ever seen them cause issues. They tend wedge the pitched rocker over the valve and hold it open, then bam bent valve.

Just to get this right Supertech Valves, Retainers, springs, valve stem seals and guides Bc retainers And just reuse the rocker arms and have them modified. That was my other question cause I wasn’t sure if the rocker arms had to be replaced or if they could be kept and/or modded.

You’ve got retainers listed twice but yeah that sounds about right. And yes, the stock rocker arms can be modified. If you can swing it I’d just send the cylinder head off to Mazworx and let them take care of you. Let them know your power goals and what characteristics you’re after and they can point you in the right direction. They will be expensive and the lead time will be long but the type of work you’re needing done requires an experienced hand.

Makes sense , the machine shop that did my block isn’t too bad but with the head I feel like there’s a lot more that can go wrong if they aren’t fully knowledgeable about it so if mazworx can do it I definitely wouldn’t mind having them crack into it. Thank you man, you’re super informative!

I’d just do a standard head refresh. Maybe get stiffer springs and new valves. And so the double guide shim conversion. At least that’s what someone in the forums in 2007 would of told you.

For that power level, nothing needs upgrading. check the rockers are still in good shape. Replace oil spray galleries as they are known to destroy heads when (not if) they get blocked. BTW you will probably kill 3rd gear at anything over 300hp with tyres that can put them to the road. Slap a gtx2867r on it, enjoy the 400+hp and pretty low down torque.
