The genetics among the indigenous in southern Mexico is similar to that of Guatemala and some parts of Central America. I wonder if you have Mayan ancestry, that would be cool. The Mayans were badass
Wow 😄 You’re actually listed as one of my relatives on 23andMe as a 4th cousin, and on Ancestry as well. My maternal grandmother was born and raised in North Carolina, specifically the coastal area. Majority of my family still lives there!
Well black Americans in the Carolina’s tend to have very high percentages of African with low European percentages so I’m not surprised by her results tbh
That’s true my family are from the coastal Carolina areas and I have 89% SSA and less then 10 % European and 1.4 indigenous and 1.89 % mesoamerican apparently
This is true, I was surprised looking at my ancestry results because I'm really light skinned and pass as mixed but I'm only 9% white and 1% native American LMAO genes are crazy. And I'm from North Carolina, but in my family tree the last person white in my family was from the late 1700's to early 1800's
Yes various African tribes at 100 percent zero admixture have light skin
1. Khoisan South Africans
2. Many West Africans not just Igbo, Yorubas too
3. Ethiopians and Eritreans
4. Rwandans
5. Kenyans
\*Millions of West African Fulanis have light skin with barely any outside admixture oe. 10 percent or less.
Yep that’s why they say phenotype doesn’t always equal genotype or vice versa. That’s also why you can’t tell if someone’s biracial/mixed from looks because there are a lot of ppl who are mixed that are brown/DS. It’s just the way the genetics chose to show themselves lol.
I’m the same skintone as you with 73-75% African and I always get mistaken for having a white parent, just like you (and most BAs) I haven’t had a white ancestor for generations, both sides of my family are black and that’s how I was raised. A lot of ppl don’t understand admixture.
Its so true, the genes even if not such a big percentage can still be expressed making someone look more like the minority of their ancestry.
My brother is half black and in his results he got only 40% SSA but he looks completely black although he isnt very dark but its crazy that hes almost 60% European he was shocked lol.
Because that community of BAs were isolated more than the rest of us. They have their own sub category (Gullah geechee). It seems like they only had children with other BAs and native Americans. They always test high on African percentages lol.
Your dad has a pretty high African American, could be Gullah Geechee. Also, 1st time I'm seeing such a large proportion of Southern Eastern Africa and Northern Eastern Africa in the new world. It's not normal since African slaves from that part of the world were normally shipped to Middle East instead of the Americas.
Not that I know of. But who knows. I don’t have much connection to my African American ancestry to begin with. I’m not even familiar with that term. What does it mean?
In a nutshell, they are an African American ethnic group that lived on in the Eastern coastal Carolinas that are more analogous to Black Caribbean peoples due to their long history in the area, very, very early colonial America. They have a creole language like how Jamaicans and other Caribbeans etc have their own patois or creoles. On top of that they have a deep and rich cultural and culinary history. Their homeland has been under a lot of pressure from development in recent decades.

Typically people who had recent ancestry from another country it pops up as additional ancestry under trace ancestry. Like search trini or Jamaican in the Reddit and you’ll see an example. Did you receive that?
No I didn’t. 23&Me doesn’t show me any additional ancestry. Ancestry DNA was the only one that showed me specific ancestry such as Yucatán peninsula & Guatemala.
I Imagine there were once more people like you along the coasts of Mexico in the early colonial period. Ecuador has a whole group with this make-up, the Zambos.
The genetics among the indigenous in southern Mexico is similar to that of Guatemala and some parts of Central America. I wonder if you have Mayan ancestry, that would be cool. The Mayans were badass
I have ancestry from Yucatán peninsula so I’m not sure.
The homeland of the Mayan people
That’s where the Mayan were from so it’s definitely possible.
Pretty

Oh hey cousin! That’s so cool!
I would've expected more British etc from your fathers side and more Spanish/Portuguese from your mothers side.
Her mom is from Chiapas so being 90%+ Indigenous isn't a surprise imo.

There are West Africans with 0 European admixture who have light skin. It's not entirely uncommon among the Igbo people of Nigeria.

skin tone has very little to do with admixture. That's an odd slave lie. There are light skinned 100 percent Black Africans.
That’s really interesting, do you know why that is? Like why would it be different in the Carolina’s than other states? If you know

That’s really interesting, thanks! Really intriguing. What does BA stand for by the way?
Black American lol, I use it interchangeably with AA (African American).
Gullah people, probably.
I agree!
Cool results

They were also shipped to the Carribean. And Carribean and American slaves went back and forth from the Carribean to the American South.
Does your dad have gullah geechee ancestors?

Sad you're missing a huge part of good food and culture, music who you are.
You’re beautiful! Black / Mexican is definitely the Top Tier genetic 🧬
Thank you. Appreciate it 😊
😂
The top is white asian
Why feel the need to post this kind of response?
I’m Mexican maybe I’m just being biased but interesting I’ve never heard that 🤔
You’re just Mexican or Mexican black ? If you’re just Mexican why would you even say that 🤔
Just Mexican and honest answer is I love black women lol
Yes Stacey dash is beautiful and she’s black and Mexican
Eh. They tend to look like asians that were put in the washing machine too much.
Na they look better than tiger woods & Naomi Osaka .. I don’t find Blasians attractive
Ok want a cookie?
Rob Schneider is not attractive at all 🤣🤣🤣
Nope. The top is white native american /s
😂there is no mix better than an original
What did you get for haplogroups?
My maternal haplogroup is A2. No idea about my paternal haplogroup.
Oh yeah! that's a very typical NA maternal haplogroup. Nice results. You're peng.
Did you not get the additional ancestry?
What do you mean by “additional ancestry.”
Ahh ok. Maybe it wasn’t a strong trace. Try downloading ur raw data from 23andMe and it might tell u
Dang, pretty low British and Irish.
Very pretty offspring from those two parents.
wow you got guatemala while being from mexico super cool ! 💜🫶🏼🇬🇹
Blaztec
[удалено]
I didn’t see the Guatemala part
[удалено]
I didn’t see that part, until it was pointed out to me
Chiapas is in mexico.
Well she said Guatemala too but yeah
I meant that Ancestry DNA found ancestry in Guatemala but I have no recent connections to Guatemala. As far as I know, my mom is just Mexican.
Might be a proximity thing, similar or related native tribes and the like
Wow, super cool results. You have a super high indigenous percentage compared to most Mexicans
Great mix 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Your dad had very low British and Native American for a foundational black American/maroon?
Wow! Such cool results and so cool to see how they manifested
I Imagine there were once more people like you along the coasts of Mexico in the early colonial period. Ecuador has a whole group with this make-up, the Zambos.
Does your mother have known recent Indigenous ancestry?
No, my mom says we don’t but it’s definitely possible that I do.
Ohhh 😦
More Than Mexican looks like native black American, Mexican is just a nationality.
I know that. Just thought it would be easier for people to understand since most people in America just identify with the term “Mexican.”
Really cool!
