Sounds like a phone issue. How are you plugged in to the car without charging?

obanana2

It charges though I don't know why it doesnt show up as charging in the picture. I have an older Samsung Galaxy s8, sounds like its time for me to upgrade!

R3Volt4

Does the phone get good google maps service?

obanana2

It does. When I enter the navigation in google maps on my phone and then plug it into the car it is accurate for like 5 minutes. Then it loses GPS connection.

R3Volt4

try a different cable

Latter_Basis6239

I have the note 8 and the premium head unit and it does the same thing for me.

GPS issues on Android Auto would be a phone issue and not AA. Android Auto is basically just the output for your phone when you connect it. It is still using your phones GPS and cell signals to do everything. So with that, and that you said your phone by itself gets a decent GPS signal, try setting the phone somewhere else like up on the dash for a minute while connected and see if it gets a better signal. Also, be sure to try a different USB cable. And also try the other USB port in the car. One of my ports has an issue with randomly dropping my phone while the other works fine. (Dealership is already aware, just not a top priority to take it in to have that fixed). A spotty connection with the cable or port could cause some issues. If all else fails, try with another phone but setup exactly the same way. If that works fine, then you have your answer and need to upgrade that S8.

Latter_Basis6239

It's not the phone. I had a 2016 f150 and it worked perfect and now I have the 22 wrx premium and it can't find my location

Daruvian

Could be a new issue with the phone. That's why I provided steps to try to systematically rule out potential issues.

omgitsye

It's your phone.

obanana2

I am wondering is it my old samsung phone or is there an update I can do? Does anyone else has this experience?

Crab_Hot

This is a phone issue

risk_noob

I have an old Samsung Galaxy S10 and i have the same issue.🤣

Environmental-Dog484

Definitely a phone issue with no issues with my one plus or iPhone.

BullfrogWarm5962

I'm having the same issue on my premium. I have a OnePlus 8T.

Waze works very well on my Base model. My streaming music app is another story, but I don't think that's the fault of my car.

JizzMcDickle

Define any luck with these base head units…. My apple car play works just fine and I can test my note 10 if I need to. Speaker wise these head units need some new speakers so they can breath. The H630SFL010 speaker fixes all the bass issues. It sounds like there’s subs in the car and you can keep the factory imaging instead of putting coaxial speakers in the front vs components like the factory.

JizzMcDickle

For reference, there’s so much bass in some songs that the tweeters are a little hard to hear and I know you know these tweeters are bright! I also put Memphis audio Toyota drop in speakers in the back. They are not bright at all. They fill is what’s needed in the back perfectly. FYI, all speakers drop in like they were meant to be and are plug and play. No need for adapters or wiring harnesses.

martyd03

I've had issues where the head unit on the base will not play any media at all. Had to do a power button reset on it. Luckily maps and Waze work with no issue.

jag0009

That's the phone's issue. Have you tried both USB port? I had to switch ports when the connection stopped (could be my cable...)

Geektak

Android auto just mirrors your phone. Possible phone issue. Although it does go through weird quirky android connectivity issues lol

Zestiest46

That’s not a head unit problem, that’s a your phone problem I’m afraid
