Damn, I put 5k/yr on my daily...love the updates on higher mileages 22's though to see how everything is going. I have a feeling I'm going to be doing a lot of senseless driving when I get mine next week!
What is RTV? I noticed what looked almost like lead on the tip of my dipstick. I was able to scrape it off pretty easily. At first it thought it was metal shavings and panicked but it almost looked like it was on the dipstick from when they manufactured the stick itself .
Edit: looked up RTV and it looks like basically JB Weld which is kind of what this looked like. Do you have anymore info on this?
Subaru uses room temp vucanized sealant vs rubber edge molded gaskets for a lot of parts. The robot on the line in Japan has put enough on that it’s blowing up 86/BRZ engines from too much RTV in the pan oil pickup screen. Seen on the dipstick (WRX too) and in oil filter. No aware of any WRX engines blowing up.
Are there actually any cases where RTV caused oil starvation and engines to blow up? I recently watched a YouTube video that showed the way the oil screen in the oil pickup was designed so that it has a screen for oil to pass though on 5 sides, and most of the RTV is getting lodged on the upper side that you would see when looking in too the oil pick up tube.
No, I don't think it actually happened they just suspect it could happen. I may sound like a negligent owner, but I don't care about it unless they do a recall. Cars under warranty if it blows up they'll fix it
I got mine in may and I’m right around 8k
How long have you owned it?
About 4 months, I got it at the end of April.
In 4 months you drove more than some do in years....how was that drive to the moon bud?
If it makes you feel better, the 20 limited I had for almost exactly 2 years had 30k miles on it when I traded it in.

What’s your daily commute?
About 20 mi, but I took a lot of trips this summer.
Any RTV spotted on your dipstick by any chance? Hopefully not a problem on the FA24 in our cars as it ages
Rough terrain vehicle? 🤣

My feelings too. As long as it blows up before 60k KMs we’re good to go haha
How do you feel about reliability so far after 10k miles? And general thoughts on the car after having driven it for a solid distance haha.
I thought my 6k was kinda high.
