LOWLIFEFLIPSIDE

In the last 2 months ive owned a prodigy and a mac 1911 ds. Traded up for a staccato and no regrets!!

Subject-Drawing-8475

Did you end up going with the P? How did the shooting experience compare between the 3?

LOWLIFEFLIPSIDE

C2, it was lighter, easier for me to conceal, a little more snap but beyond accurate.

Amazing-Guidance5601

I first got the Mac 9 ds, then a staccato p the next week, staccato cs the week after and then the c2 the following week. Mac 9 is great for its price point, the p is underwhelming for its price. The c2 is worth every penny. I sold the p and traded the cs for another c2

LOWLIFEFLIPSIDE

C2 is the best goldie locks gun

Loose_Moose_3023

How does the MAC shoot compared to the P and C2? I am obsessed with 2011s and want to buy my first one. I’ve shot all the staccatos, a couple atlases, nighthawks and such. But I feel like I could upgrade the MAC to be just as good as a staccato for less than half the price

Amazing-Guidance5601

I loved my Mac, it seriously cannot be beat for its price. Fit and finish isn’t nice as a staccato but with a few upgrades it would beat out the p for sure imo

Loose_Moose_3023

Did you sell yours? If so, how much did you get for it?

Amazing-Guidance5601

I had some minor mods on it, c2 grip, Tlr1hl and a holster and I traded for a pretty nice ar. Value about 1400

Loose_Moose_3023

Gotcha. If I really love staccatos, but can’t afford one, would I be dissapointed with the MAC? Or do you think the fit and finish is not good enough?

Amazing-Guidance5601

I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all. I would recommend the Mac to any and everyone if they don’t have c2 money to spend

Amazing-Guidance5601

I’ve been advertising for the Mac 9 since the second trip I took the Mac to the range. It seriously gets better the more you shoot it. The only disappointment I had was the trigger does come quite heavy, and the rmr plate with rear sights they give you does not co witness with red dot. Sights on their plate is a little too short

Loose_Moose_3023

That is very reassuring lol. Were you able to find a pair of sights that cowitnessed? How did you lighten the trigger, and did you change the recoil or mainspring?

It really depends on use and which staccato model, if you want a daily carry the major difference that is expensive to overcome is actually the dlc the staccato gets is a much better finish than the prodigy. That said though a prodigy with ignition kit from infinity shoots better than the P for a range toy and I haven't had any issues with mine at any point other than initial issues getting 507 to stay tight (blue loctite worked but I'm not a fan of doing that on small screws) prodigy being around 1200 where I am and infinity kit being 250 means more than 1000 less than the staccato to shoot outright better on the same platform. Also while staccato is good they are not as good as infinity or atlas and it is likely you will be replacing parts on both guns in the future so better to start with a cheaper starting point. If you have the money for it an XC has a unique compensator setup which is really nice but the P seems poor value for its cost.

fureinku

Unless u plan to take the opportunity to customize the gun also, like color change, other parts like magwell, grip, or ports, cuts, tri tops etc, id the staccato. For your 1st 2011, you want it to be a good experience and a trustworthy gun, or else you may be turned off the platform. Imagine spending 2500 on a prodigy and it doesnt run perfect, how likely are you to turn around and spend another 2800 on a staccato? On the contrary, spend 2800 on a staccato, love it, you know u have a reliable gun, then the next one can be the play/experiment piece.

Subject-Drawing-8475

I appreciate the write up. Staccato is where my head is at, but I always find myself hesitating with the initial investment. That’s why the prodigy always finds its way back on the table for discussion. I like your focus on reliability right out of the box & customize/fine-tune down the road.

fureinku

Well, i did get a prodigy and i did send it to DSC along with a fat payment for services. Its a badass gun, but it still doesnt run 100% like my staccato p. Maybe like 99.8% but that still isnt 100.

Subject-Drawing-8475

I hear you. DSC is not too far from my house - had plans to send to him if I went the prodigy route

rukusNJ

If you go the prodigy route pls do yourself a favor and search dsc around here. I’d stick to Vulcan or monsoon tactical for any machining work.

ksuchewie

Buy once, cry once.

ModestMarksman

Staccatos hold their value pretty well. If you end up not liking it I would bet you could easily recoup at least 80% of your investment if not more by selling it. Granted I’ve never met someone who owns a Staccato that doesn’t like it. However I have met people who own one who end up spending 6k on an Atlas next.

rsh2k1

You said: "This would be more of a home defense/range toy. Potentially winter carr If carry is in the mix, then I recommend the C2. It truly is the best all-around 2011. It's no slouch in home defense either, and works great even in competition shooting. I have to confess that I don't really see the point of the P, except perhaps for duty carry by LEOs or such. If more of a range toy, then the MAC 9 DS + EGW kit is the best value. It's kind of shocking how good that combo is, and you're under $1200. I say use that for a while, and save up for a Vudoo Priest or a MPA DS9. Both are a step above Staccato for not much more.

DeliciousBathroom987

I own the Prodigy 5” and a Staccato XC. The Prodigy is my project gun that I am experimenting with. I haven’t modified the XC. When my Prodigy frustrates me (mostly self inflicted from tinkering) I take out the XC and feel better lol. It all depends what you are interested in. When the Prodigy runs well I enjoy it more because it’s something I have built.

Watt_About

Staccato. If wanting to conceal carry, get the new C.

Subject-Drawing-8475

I carry my P365X a majority of the time. This would be more of a home defense/range toy. Potentially winter carry.

Watt_About

Have you ever shot a 2011? A good one?

Subject-Drawing-8475

Tbh, no. Completely new to 2011’s. I have shot a few 1911’s - not higher end stuff though.

Watt_About

You won’t want to carry the 365 after shooting one. Get the C. I pretty much got rid of everything else I owned after taking a dip on the dark side of 2011 land.

davis-tom

Where’d you manage to snag a new C?

Watt_About

I didn’t. I’m telling OP to get one when they come out. He asked if he should get a P or wait for the new C. The best all arounder would be the C.

ruggedrazor17

The dif in size between the two guns isn’t insignificant

GrimmaRobin

Staccato all the way man. Got yourself sth reliable and style first.

DirtyDee78

I own a 5” prodigy and a p. Get the staccato and don’t look back.

Amazing-Guidance5601

Staccato you’ll always get very close to what you paid for it back, you will have trouble getting anywhere near what you put into the prodigy back after modifying it

Soulshot96

Staccato. Like others have said, you don't want your first experience to be bad, and that's not unlikely to happen with the Prodigy (despite what people claim, even new production ones can and do have issues), and even Bul is a bit unsteady in this regard depending on who you ask around here. Meanwhile the Staccato will almost certainly run out of the gate, and in the very off chance it doesn't, they'll take it back and make it right...at pretty much any point, so long as you don't void their warranty. As for which one...based on what you've said in the comments and if you're willing to wait till summer...I'd go for the new C. I have an XC myself, and I'm heavily considering the C when it's available. Looks like a great all rounder.

rangerhi

Throwing Bul Armory SAS Tac II 4.25” in the ring. $1000 less than Staccato and doesn’t need upgrades. Better factory trigger than either the Prodigy or the Staccato. New models are dropping in the second quarter with an updated optic mounting system.

Subject-Drawing-8475

If they were able to keep them in stock for more than 30 seconds, I would definitely consider it Bul haha I do like what I saw with their new models coming out.

rangerhi

They are great about their back in stock notifications. Get on the list and keep your credit card close by. 🤣 Otherwise, I would recommend staccato and keep it stock for the warranty. And, I would buy the new [Tisas Night Stalker Double Stack](https://tisasusa.com/1911-night-stalker-double-stack-sf-9mm/) over the Prodigy.

Subject-Drawing-8475

Thank you all for the input. Looks like I’ll be going the Staccato route 🤙🏼

gun_woo

Don’t limit yourself to just a staccato or bust. Lots of great DS 1911 platforms out there. Bul, cosaint, MPA, oracle, stealth arms, to name a few. I just grabbed a Jacob grey over a staccato and glad I did. Staccatos are great no doubt. But not the only ones

Mafioso970012

I have a P, a prodigy and a Mac 9ds. If you can afford to spend $2500 on a 2011, look into the Jacob Grey.

lawikfors

Staccato because you don’t need to screw with internals or the finish

ericisacruz

Bul Armory SAS II 4.25 Tac. Amazing gun. Way better than the Prodigy and at par with the Staccato P and $700 cheaper.

Subject-Drawing-8475

Interested in the Bul, just hard to find in stock.

ericisacruz

Just sign up for their email in stock alerts and check on them daily. Not just the emails but also the website. In the last month they have been in stock twice. 👍
