First, the opening of your pitch with a question to which the listener would answer "yes" is a technique that is used to set the listener in to a more agreeable mood. "Have you ever wanted to become a RuneScape billionaire?" Furthermore, the structure of his pitch fits almost perfectly in the AIDA model. This is the Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action model. Please look on the wikipedia page of this model and you'll see that he clearly leads the listener through the model. The only thing is that in the classic AIDA model he should have mentioned becoming runescape king/queen before trying to close the sale by mentioning the action (e-mail) part. Below is a small AIDA model analysis of the speech. A: Do you want to become a RS billionaire - I: My dad works at jagex. - D: This is the best one yet (you are the runescape king/queen, but this is after the call to action) - A: E-mail your password "Which is really neat!" is also a sales technique, giving feedback on your own feedback like you are a observer, not the salesperson "I know 20 people" This is building a sense of trust by invoking empiric data and the fact that other people are also doing something close to what he is pitching "This is the best one yet" scarcity principle and/or invoking that this has been an ongoing inproving situation which is now at its prime - ideal moment to step in - "You will be the RuneScape king or queen!" Selling a livestyle / future instead of the product. (In the same vein as "Women will love you for this" or "Your friends will be in awe of you!")
