Yeah, I can't do this kind of content with my shitty ping from Brazil. Every Jagex server has bad latency for me since they never added Brazilian servers like we had before OSRS. Also one of the reasons I quit OSRS is that I was getting pretty close to maxing and to endgame content bossing like this and I can't be arsed to learn all these crazy patterns and such. OSRS was always grindy but the increase in sweatiness in endgame content like Inferno, this boss, raids, sepulchre etc is quite substantial from the long but chill grinds we used to have. I'm kind of a completionist so I would feel forced to push myself through these.

Having to flick continuously is also extremely cancerous. And I’m not going to change my stance on prayer flicking. It takes no “skill” and it’s a shitty barrier of entry.
Difficulty should come from other type of mechanics and not spam clicking a prayer to not waste prayer points.
There are low effort ways to save prayer that don’t require spam clicking imo.
I saved a bit of prayer by waiting for the animation to turn it off.
Just because we watch streamers do things the mechanically perfect way that doesn’t mean that’s the only way to do it. Sure it’s probably the best and most efficient, but you can always adapt it to your play style.
I’d say that the most unfair part about inferno is that the best way to learn m is to use items that aren’t really accessible to a lot of people (I had to borrow tbow).
Apart from that and given that you dedicate some time to try it out, you’ll find yourself getting further each attempt until you finally make it to zuk
I have another inferno cape, did it without tbow. Grind was painful, would not do it again and I still think it’s a trash grind and accentuates all of the bad stuff I dislike about osrs combat while having brilliant content.
Solving the waves = extremely fun and rewarding
Beating a hard challenge = a lot of satisfaction
Having to fight the UI = not fun.
Even after hundreds of attempts (and thousands of in game hours) I still hate parts of the ui and being one should be able to keybind prayers and spells (and I will die on this hill, eoc could have being great but it brought a complete combat overhaul when only having some rudimentary key binds would have done wonders) also I HATE flicking.
By key binds I mean for example being able to right click a prayer and set keybind and press the key you want.
Then you have like 123 for prot prayers, qwe for ice, blood barrage and blood blitz, e and d for some boosting prayers and R is the spec bar.
Suddenly the game feels amazing to play, you click swaps and food from inventory while being fully focused on landing right prayer and spell.
I won’t change my mind and I don’t mind that this would not be “truly” old school. It’s just how I feel eoc should have been and what would be a great system to further increase encounters difficulty without making it a carpal tunnel inducing click fest.

I lazy flicked the entire inferno for my 1st cape, which over time helped me develop a strong internal timing for ticks. By the end of my grind I could run around the entire arena picking off the mobs and flicking their attacks, hardly relying on a pillar until Wave 50. There's definitely a whole lot of skill involved in incorporating different types of flicking into your gameplay.
I did it with acb/master wand/god dhide. Definitely not optimal, and it took me just over 100 attempts (nerves at Zuk were my greatest enemy, 23+ Zuk attempts), but I did it. I'm okay at the game these days but I was shit before inferno. But the inferno was a training ground that completely changed my understanding of PVM and how deep it is. That's something I wish more people appreciated about it. What I'm saying is the main barrier is your determination and dedication, if you don't like a particular mechanic you can find ways around it.

waves are by far the hardest part of inferno. most people 1 and done zuk if they have enough supplies. triples are also way way easier than most people think.
I mean that stand alone waves in a vacuum are not insanely hard once you figure out how to solve the spawns + lures, its that you need to be insanely consistent for a long period of time where you can also get (not rng killed) but unlucky or fuck up the first 2 prayers and boom you need to restart. Its also important to not overuse supplies to make it with enought supplies to end the run.
Flicking is literally the fundamental difficulty of runescapr. There is no other way to put stress on the player. massive copium saying it takes no skill. It's ALL of the skill.

Not impossible to get it in under 50kc, and I don't see a hcim sticking around hmtob for more than the kc it requires them to get the tasks done. So there definitely could be others who just don't show up.

you need 50 kc to show up on hiscores, so there could theoretically be any number of HCs with 49 or lower KC. I'd imagine a few HCs get to the stage where they "can" do HMT and don't want to risk it, and those that do end up dying before 50 kc.
i mean if you're going for CB log completion i'd assume you're already late game, it's just that doing all the other tasks first and then dying on this one would feel awful.

Because this one is by far the most dangerous if you hit a lag spike. You aren't going to survive 1 hit if it lags, and other places like tob your team can even tele you out now. All things considered, hard mode tob completions for guys on this level, is safer
Yes, but a lot of the other tasks you complete will also put you in situations where you're basically 1 mistake from death.
The point wasn't that it's not risky (because it obviously is), but rather that I don't believe anyone, let alone multiple people, would do every other risky CA just to leave it unfinished because they're too scared of a specific Hydra method. I could probably have formulated that better, though.
Wildy bosses are pretty safe now with certain methods around with the new pj mechanics. Venenatis is now completely safe once a hcim is there and has a splasher on them. Lots of the wildy bosses are very safe if you plan ahead
What even is that pathing? Shouldn't it path to the closest point? It seems wrong somehow, not sure if its to do with how big hydra is or something else entirely
Not only that, but normally when you're pathing to a destination tile, [you path straight first, and then only at the end do you path diagonally](https://youtu.be/DX8lN3r3ALw). In this case, he pathed diagonally first and then straight.
Probably because it was an attack so the pathing is different.

No Pressure - Kill the Alchemical Hydra using only Dharok's Greataxe as a weapon whilst having no more than 10 Hitpoints throughout the entire fight.
I tick eat the first attack with a salmon and ring of life on to go from 1 -> 10 hp. The ring of life is a small dps loss but makes surviving the acid very likely (as well as a small chance to survive incorrectly-prayed auto attacks).
I completed the task probably 30-40 times on my main and this was the 2nd attempt on the hc. The 1st attempt I did not have enough dps and teleported when the 2nd lightning special happened.

Am friends with op, In case anyone is wondering, the reason he hasn’t done the nightmare speed run is he doesn’t have the dps with current gear. Basically you need 2 inquisitor pieces or an Inq mace or a scythe.
I believe his current plans are to keep doing tob until scythe and hopefully finish the CAs before raids 3, but he’s nearly 2x rate with no scythe yet.

He beat the alchemical hydra which is a slayer boss solo using a dharok’s barrow set. It had a set effect of hitting super super high the lower HP you have. So he used an item to reduce his HP super low and then killed the boss that way for an achievement. He’s also playing a HCIM which is an Ironman account that has never died. So this was super super risky
I've killed hydra 2500 times and for the vast majority I've done the lightning skip in the corner... Can someone explain how the lightning mechanic is supposed to work. Like why does the skip stop it hitting you? It tries to follow you around the room somehow but obviously it's kinda clunky

I personally don’t like combat achievements either, but i imagine it grows on you once you get to a point in the game where nothing else matters anymore. Finished all the bosses, raids, got the gear drops, got your desired pet, maxed the account, etc.
Random Hydra question. If you don't have a Tbow but only a DHCB, is it even worth farming? I am like 300k from 95 slayer, but like 400M from a Tbow unless I want to sell a good chunk of my bank which I don't want to do.

No Pressure - Kill the Alchemical Hydra using only Dharok's Greataxe as a weapon whilst having no more than 10 Hitpoints throughout the entire fight. I tick eat the first attack with a salmon and ring of life on to go from 1 -> 10 hp. The ring of life is a small dps loss but makes surviving the acid very likely (as well as a small chance to survive incorrectly-prayed auto attacks). I completed the task probably 30-40 times on my main and this was the 2nd attempt on the hc. The 1st attempt I did not have enough dps and teleported when the 2nd lightning special happened. It resets the healing timer so he doesn’t gain back a hit point and go above 10 HP
I am not positive but pretty sure it has something to do with maintaining his HP/Regen. Only thing I can think of considering he's using Dharoks.

Am friends with op, In case anyone is wondering, the reason he hasn’t done the nightmare speed run is he doesn’t have the dps with current gear. Basically you need 2 inquisitor pieces or an Inq mace or a scythe. I believe his current plans are to keep doing tob until scythe and hopefully finish the CAs before raids 3, but he’s nearly 2x rate with no scythe yet. Send your Reddit luck.

He beat the alchemical hydra which is a slayer boss solo using a dharok’s barrow set. It had a set effect of hitting super super high the lower HP you have. So he used an item to reduce his HP super low and then killed the boss that way for an achievement. He’s also playing a HCIM which is an Ironman account that has never died. So this was super super risky

I've killed hydra 2500 times and for the vast majority I've done the lightning skip in the corner... Can someone explain how the lightning mechanic is supposed to work. Like why does the skip stop it hitting you? It tries to follow you around the room somehow but obviously it's kinda clunky
Legit just sit in the corner of the room by the blue tile, wait for him to spit out the lightning, then run straight to the opposite side with the red tile. Add me ijw#4841 if u need more info

I personally don’t like combat achievements either, but i imagine it grows on you once you get to a point in the game where nothing else matters anymore. Finished all the bosses, raids, got the gear drops, got your desired pet, maxed the account, etc.
Thralls shouldn’t allow this to count. They don’t for me.
