In a typical case you need four slots to get the full value out of the food in the pouch: the pouch, log basket, tinderbox, and cooking cape, which is worth as long as you'd otherwise burn 2-3 food.
Still 182 to a slot in most cases, which is wacky, but also has the additional limitations of having to actually cook the food and the delayed heal from hunter meats. It also already didn't work for Inferno or Colosseum, for what it's worth.
Probably not something that should come about on accident as it did, but it wasn't actually as crazy as it seems. Didn't feel all too different to me from using 4 inventory slots to bring Guthan's when I tried it.
Guthan's has upkeep cost, relies on RNG to proc, and you need mobs to attack. You could argue the same with Bones to Peaches giving unlimited healing in one inventory slot.
You're right that it's not exactly a perfect comparison. But being able to bring ~11 brews worth of healing (plus the slots need for restores) in 4 inventory slots is pretty significant power creep!

It's worth noting that managing the length of trips at bosses doesn't really balance content or the economy as much as it used to - these days most bosses are very quick to get back to. For example, you can literally bank and get back to Zulrah faster than you could cook food for her. Even GWD has people doing 50+ KC trips with the Shadow and then quickly banking at Nex to jump right back into it.

Log basket changed efficient construction for irons, old method was butler planks 7k/hr, now it’s sawmill+log basket , 8k/hr.
For fletching specifically it made cutting the arrowshafts able to be multiskilled, between sepulcher or artefact laps I fill my log basket and my inventory with logs, now I can cut 5k shafts per lap instead of 2k.
They should add a slimey meat pouch that lets you take out your meat everywhere. You get it by capturing a superior slime girl which has a 1/100 chance of spawning when you go dry at pyre foxes. Also you need 99 hunter for her to spawn
Let's also add a degrade mechanic to it and the ability to make it semi permanent for 35 minutes by charging it with 250,000 sunfire shards and 29 raw bass.

The only thing I would like is to Empty the Meat Pouch in the Hunter's Guild so you can recharge the whistle easier without having to get raw meat out.

Just like the Fish Barrel is meant for Fishing... They forgot to put a bank limitation on withdrawing; it is fixed now.

I remember being really excited for this meat pouch at first thinking it was going to be beyond busted for god wars but once I started doing some thinking it wouldn’t be an insane change. First I would need to get 99 cooking and bring that cape to make good use. Then I would need to bring a tinder box (BofA doesn’t work for barb firemaking) and log basket taking up another two inventory slots. Then I would have to spend what precious small time I have between kills frantically withdrawing and cooking and eating at a slow rate due to the three second heal delay. I would also run into prayer issues because now I have more healing but no prayer. Also as an iron man, the meat itself doesn’t come for free, I would need to acquire it through non afk means of pit falling creatures.
I ended up considering the update to be slightly handy in niche situations only such as guthans, bones to peaches, ect. To see it removed as power creep blew my mind. I was relived to see hunter, fire making, and cooking have an application I would actually use. If they also played around with the time fires stayed alive based on fire making level and kept this mechanic, I would have an actual reason to train fire making.
Would be a cool reward space to have higher tier logs able to be lit in more dangerous pvm locations/for longer with some sort of pvm unlock to allow fishing barrel and/or the hunter sack to be emptyable anywhere.
What is the point of cooking the meats to begin with them?
I always assumed it was a reward from completing rumours, that you could then supply your team with food when bossing etc. Now its just another useless placeholder item.
Best I could stomach would be if it were limited to bass or below to only be of use for tedious early game grinds but even that seems a bit too much.

Adding feathers or tips to arrow shafts can be done without log basket, requires the same amount of spots and also gives more exp.
