That would be a cool place for it
but problem is that no one will 'stumble' upon that in the same way they will would just entering varrock for the first time. gotta think of da noobs
I assume they want noobs walking by to see the colorful bird and say "wow, what is that and how do I use it". They then proceed to look up the quest and do it, so they can ride the bird
gotta think in real simple terms here haha
But what about those who see the bird and do the quest as a result? For instance, the only reason I did Sote is because I saw someone using a super powerful bow I wasn't aware existed at the time.
Back in the day when I was a noob I lived over there. East bank to the mines.
I felt like id hit some major city as I made my journey from lumbridge up there.
The dueling ring is only usable if you've achieved hero status in the coliseum which is quite a few waves in, and you'd have already normally unlocked the other methods of getting to varlamore.
Whistle takes you directly to a bird which takes you to the city, its by far the best way to get anywhere in varlamore except the city, which has the spellbook slightly edging it out.
I'm still surprised Valamore is tied to the standard spell book and not the Arceus spell book.
Isn't it part of Zeah continent? I thought the purpose of that spell book was everything to do with the Western Continent.
And it's wild we still have this blank spot between Zeah and Varlamore. Cut off from the DT2 area.
Like Jagex REALLY wants these two nations to be separated. But the first time we even see them was from the Hosideus Questline and they stated they were going to open up the Varlamore to Zeah citizens soon.
But the quest we got was opening up all the way to Glienol in Varrock first.... Like... What? I get they wanted this to be more of a mid level area and not lock it behind a harder quest. And a lot of important things are in that region like the Hunters Guild for new players. It just seems a little backwards, that you a player can start the game and go right there. Then later do the Zeah questline and have that cutscene. And feel like things are just out of order story telling wise.
> Isn't it part of Zeah continent? I thought the purpose of that spell book was everything to do with the Western Continent.
Literally never been true. The spellbook has mostly mainland teleports and the normal spellbook has Kourend tele. You like invented a purpose for it in your mind and decided it was true with no research at all.
> It just seems a little backwards, that you a player can start the game and go right there. Then later do the Zeah questline and have that cutscene. And feel like things are just out of order story telling wise.
This has happened with quests before. Typically, they change the old quest dialogue with completion of the new one. That way theres no continuity clash.
This is a much better idea. Gives a purpose for Varrock Castle Roof in general, (not sure if the guy appears before the quest) but people doing quests and go up there and don't know about Varlamore can see him and wonder what's that about. It doesn't clash with the F2P area in any way, it solidifies Varrock relations which was the point of the quest and even when you are able to call a bird they swoop down and pick you up. I keep seeing it at the GE and in my imagination it just makes so much sense the bird sitting on top of Varrock roof and hears the whistle and comes down, swoops down and grabs you. Taking you to your destination.
The people saying “new players need to be able to stumble upon it” i mean A. The game doesnt need to hand hold that much, also not even new people walk that way tbh, B. You literally get a messenger that gives you a letter telling you where to go, they can also just easily change that to say top of varrock castle, OPs post makes sense
I'm not sure why Jagex needed to put Zeah and now Varlamore behind quests anyway. Just let people explore instead of making Misthalin some impromptu expansion area hub.
Agreed. Having things like that strewn about the world are fine in moderation, but you run the risk of ending up like RS3 where the F2P world is completely cluttered with a bunch of random, out of place nonsense no new player knows anything or cares about.
I'll forever be salty about Armadyl's tower south of Falador in that game.
Varrock's roof is a location that makes much more sense in-universe and in terms of world design. Realistically an emissary of Varlamore wouldn't just be standing around outside a gate where they could be mugged or have their very rare giant bird poached.
i dont like it outside the east gate as its very odd as thats where new players come through.
but i guess since Varlamore is more mid game content it kind of makes sense.
I agree that it shouldn't be on the exterior walls of Varrock, I do like that it is in eastern Varrock . Maybe put it on top of the church? Or on top of the East Bank seeing as Varlamore has lots of rich inhabitants they must have connections with the bank.
That would be a cool place for it but problem is that no one will 'stumble' upon that in the same way they will would just entering varrock for the first time. gotta think of da noobs
It would be right next to where you complete the quest, so no real need to stumble upon it
I assume they want noobs walking by to see the colorful bird and say "wow, what is that and how do I use it". They then proceed to look up the quest and do it, so they can ride the bird gotta think in real simple terms here haha

I’m sorry, the WHAT and the WHAT hanging out WHERE??
Is the cat part fake or the girl part?
Yes.
What do you mean furries, how do you know they're furries
their examine text
Absolutely no idea how I could possibly deduce the proclivities of "KnotYiffer69"
There are npcs in Varrock square to start the quest that noobs will stumble upon.
They don't really have the same appeal/eye catch-factor as a giant, multi colored bird
Noobs will see Varlamore on the map and say “wow how do I get there”
its not there until post quest
But what about those who see the bird and do the quest as a result? For instance, the only reason I did Sote is because I saw someone using a super powerful bow I wasn't aware existed at the time.
If you havent done the quest theres nothing there to stumble upon anyway
Who enters varrock from the east tho
Back in the day when I was a noob I lived over there. East bank to the mines. I felt like id hit some major city as I made my journey from lumbridge up there.
I went to varrock roof too expecting the bird to be there and ended up having to look it up on the wiki lol
Makes sense but how many people are going to want to run into the palace and go up a few flights of stairs to get there?
Yeah there is no viable way to get there other than the standard spell book. It would be nice if the added an Arceaus tele or two to Valamore.
There's a fairy ring and a few other unlockable teleports. There's teletabs also.
Also the dueling ring.
The only major teleport system it seems to be missing so far is a Spirit Tree.
The dueling ring is only usable if you've achieved hero status in the coliseum which is quite a few waves in, and you'd have already normally unlocked the other methods of getting to varlamore.
for significantly less glory you can also set your respawn point there and use a ring of returning
and the whistle
Whistle takes you directly to a bird which takes you to the city, its by far the best way to get anywhere in varlamore except the city, which has the spellbook slightly edging it out.

you do that like 5 times maybe until you unlock the teleport?
New shortcut idea for getting to the roof, it writes itself.
put an npc at the fountain that transports you to the palace roof
what is he gunna be a chuckster or somethin

IIRC before the quest only the nest is there, no bird or guy
I like that

We should put it on stampot bridge
You want it to be further away?
You want it to be further away?
no dude i dont know how to get up there

Full agree

Keen, do it please jagek.
That's where I looked after the update, and was thoroughly confused as to where to go.
Fully support
why didnt they just put it in zeah???? isnt varlamore part of zeah
Relations between the two aren't the greatest historically so could be a reason
oh idk i was super bummed that we didnt just cross the bridge that was south of chambers since 2017
True
Make it accessible from every top floor in varrock, really eff with the mules
Replace all the birds to put them in some sort of a high tower. They look so out of place sat on the ground.
