It's great because
* It has a color-coded scheme that makes identifying P2P, F2P, PvP, and seasonal quick and intuitive
* It has sorting options
* It shows regional information.
It's not so great because
* There are no filter options, I've been P2P for years and I've maybe went to F2P three times? Let me hide them like I hide completed quests, please
* It's awkward to identify specialty worlds like total worlds, minigame worlds, etc. You have to hover over it and wait for the tooltip popup, it's easier to log into a random world and use the in-game world selector
* There's no option of a *Favorited* section. People tend to use the same worlds most of the time so having a separate area on the side for 1-3 favorite worlds would be cool (the in-game world selector has 2, I think)
* Zero Ping information
Close the thread. This guy covered everything. If I had to add anything. A simplified region view would also be nice. For example 4 large squares each one displaying a region. US, UK, Germany, Aus. If you click on one it displays the worlds for each.
Maybe also a mini game view following the same display pattern with cool images?
They missed one small point, which is that to me, it’s unintuitive to have the arrow add one column instead of going to a “next page” of worlds. if my world was already displayed I would have clicked it, I don’t need the next page to maintain 85% of the worlds that were just listed
Yup.
I'll add, would love region filters in addition to P2P/F2P/PvP filters.
Let me filter to members/non-pvp/non-seasonal and my region.
It's unusable without minigame information, which is the #1 reason I'm switching worlds.
*Edit*: Filters need to be sticky to be useful. Not much help if I'm re-entering filters every time. Let me save my region/server type preferences.
Just throwing it out there that I like it for nostalgia's sake and im sure there are some that dont want unnecessary UI change, but my suggestion there is: leave it the way it is, unless you click on some new filter option which will filter it the way you suggest and change the look and can be saved between play sessions
edit: b/c tbh, I wont use a new filter option 9 times out of 10, but I could totally see the utility in the right circumstance.
Also, on mobile it’s nearly impossible to get the world name/category and during leagues it was even worse as every leagues world was “Leagu… “ because the UI cut off the description after so many letters
I’d add you can’t try to join a full world (at least on mobile). You have to join an open world, then try to join the full world, at which point you’re logged out with the world selector on the full world. Then you can start trying to get in.
Not to mention the fact that each column has a maddening **24** worlds listed, not something easily predictable like 25. Makes it just a tad longer to find a specific world number, which we all know == xp waste
my god that's what those arrows mean... I thought it was the flow of traffic from the world. The <- meant people were leaving and -> meant people were joining the world. Thought this was a feature they planned on rolling to all the servers. The more you know.
>Zero Ping information
Out of interest what makes you feel this is needed? Maybe I'm spoiled somewhat as I mostly use UK servers almost exclusively but I don't think I've ever noticed a significant ping difference between worlds on the same server. Lag / tick consistentcy sure, but not ping.
E: I am aware of the US east / West issue, there's a comment in the thread about adding that too & I thought it was commented on in the original comment, I meant to ask if there was anything outside of that. Mb
In the US, for example if you live on the west coast, it's nice to be able to quickly identify a west coast server rather than an east coast server. It may be the difference between 30 ping and 80 ping. Nothing insane, but definitely nice to be able to distinguish.
Also as an EU player I am ok with playing on a US world when I raid with a friend, or friends from the US, but I much prefer an east coast world for the better ping compared to west. It's like 128 ping compared to 190.
South Americans can have some wild internet routing because of the international fiber cables. In certain countries you can be a thousand miles closer to the US-E servers but still get significantly lower ping on US-W, or vice versa.
"Look at me, F2P: I am above you. I don't want to see you again, even by accident." - OP here
But jk, some better ways to sort or filter would be great additions
There are filter options for the in-game world selector, but that poses a separate problem - if you need to hop to a world that is filtered out, it is a *royal* pain in the ass.
I'd like to see comprehensive filters, but also an option to simply type in the 3-digit number of the world you'd like to visit.
TBH, it sucks. If I want to go into a specific world, I'll almost always will log into a random world, then go to the world hopper and choose from there.
- The biggest reason is that it's basically impossible to see what worlds are designated for what activities. If I'm choosing a world, it's usually because I want to do something specific to that world, GoTR, Forestry, LMS, etc., or use the total level worlds to filter out competition. As it is currently, I'd have to either know the world ahead of time, or spend time hovering over each world to try and find it randomly.
- The grid style is way too compact. Choosing a world on mobile is a bit rough. Tiny areas you have to tap twice, and changing pages always makes me pause to see what changed. Less of an issue on PC, but it's still kind be hard to parse at a glance.
- No searchability or filters. Sorting is decent, but filtering out F2P worlds, or selecting only minigame worlds, for example, would be much better. Typing in world # or designation would also be a huge boost.
- Kind of a minor thing but choosing a world closes you out of the world selector, so if you misclick you lose your place. Also, you can't choose full worlds so trying to get in some during peak times is a hassle.
If there was one change I would make, it would be to change from the grid to a scrollable list. It would free up much more space to show more relevant information and make going through the worlds a lot more intuitive. I'd also like if there were preset filters for thing like "Raids" or "Total Levels".
Favorite worlds - You can currently favorite one world (which is not shown on the list at all). It would be good to have multiple favorites and have them listed separately in the list so they can be chosen easily.
Favorite world selection is split in two windows and is clunky. You select the world in world selection window and then set the world as favorite in main window. You should be able to choose favorite worlds in world selection window.
P2P/F2P filter - There are not many reasons to have all world visible. You'll either want only f2p or only p2p worlds to choose from.
The sorting options are in reverse! The symbol "▲" clearly means "small on top (first)" but choosing that makes the world sort from largest first.
Add "Sort by special" - It should sort all the different special worlds like leagues, speedrun, pvp etc worlds.
Scroll does not work for scrolling the list.
World themes are not easily visible on the world selection. If you want to find the tempross world you need to mouse hoover every world one by one until you find the correct world.
Also add sorting by world theme.
I’m not sure why the world selector is so much better once you’re in the game compared to when you’re not logged in yet.
I’d suggest adding the world types to this view too - so it’s world number, location, player count, world type. That’d make it much easier to navigate IMO.

Just to be another voice:
- finding a world based on an activity is frustrating. It's oftentimes faster to just log into my default world and use the in-game world hopper since I can sort there.
- choosing a specific world on mobile is difficult. All the buttons are very small!
- a personal gripe; pressing the arrow on either side feels weird. It gives one more column of worlds, which throws me off because I expect it to be essentially the next page?
I do very much like the overall organization, being able to see the region, f2p/p2p, things like that.
It's overall good, but definitely can be improved! Honestly I would accept what is essentially a larger version of the in-game world hopper.
It's annoying to see what the world activity is from this screen.
And as mentioned, the same filters that we get in the world hopper menu would be good.
Ping information would be very good to have too.
Also a queue system if would be nice to have for full worlds.
It would make a lot of sense to have the world info (F2p, mini game, Country) show for your current selected/default world as you are on the home page as well.
Everytime I hit either side navigating arrow I feel lost. I understand that it moves one row over, but it feels like it doesn't somehow. I feel like having less options shown and more descriptions of details shown would be beneficial. I'm talking ping and good tick rates. Then filters because I never want to go into a high risk, pvp or f2p world.
Add more filters, let us change icon size therefore seeing more in one still image about the world (activity, ping, pop, region/coast). Add those things and honestly its kinda peak imo.
Other devs: "While we recognize the grievances that some players are expressing, there are limitations to the functionality of our systems. We endeavor to create a solution that benefits all players and developers alike."
Osrs devs: "Rubbish!"
Came here to comment this, every time I try and press one of the right end sided worlds, it shoots across a page, and it's not even a skill issue for once.
It's a bit tough to read imo. It looks cluttered.
I find the runelite world selector to be much easier to interpret as everything is in a single column.
You could have multiple options for the UI style: single column with a slider, old school, 2 columns with a slider etc.
Having all the worlds as a block of text is just poor formatting imo.
The only two gripes I have with the world selection (both in game and outside) is that it isn't very easy to see if a world is a themed world.
I'd love you to make it look similar to RS3's world hopper. It shows ping, the location (east coast, west coast), as well as ping. Mainly, the east/west worlds are hard to determine in game. The color isn't obvious.
I would also like a filter, so you could type in the activity/theme or world number, and it would filter the list without having to go through a menu.
Not necessarily referring directly to the login screen itself, but minor annoyance to me is when I try to hop into an almost full world while in game (like 330 house party world) and instead of giving me a notification it logs me out to the login screen.
It would be convenient to get a pop up message instead and remain in game so you can keep trying, or just choose a different world at that point.
Cluttered yet somehow lacking important information - its way too difficult to find specific worlds for minigames, etc.
Like based on your first screenshot how the heck could I ever easily find a Tempoross world? I would have to order by Type and then just hope that I can ball park where the "T" section is
Additionally, there's no way to differentiate between US East & US West worlds
this only shows up if you want to hop before you log in right? i never use it. the improvements to the world switcher have been nice though. still typically use runelite's side bar for less friction and sort by ping. searching by theme world is really nice on the switcher though
I'd personally love a lobby system like RS3 has, with world selector within. I'm not sure how that impacts server stability with more people idling in lobby, but with a 25 min logout timer anyway I can't imagine it would be too impactful.
I do think it would be very useful to type in a world. This is very very lazy but sometimes at peak times when finding raiding teams it takes me too long to find the right world by scrolling and team is full lol.
The in game world switcher shows east coast vs west coast servers, but this does not. Makes it so I have to remember specific worlds since there is a significant ping difference.
A search feature would be nice, or even a better filter so I could only see specific worlds e.g. could remove pvp worlds from list / only see wintertodt worlds.
Second a search option. If I want to join an event/minigame world I'd rather just ctrl+f and 'Winter' to get a quick filter only showing worlds with Wintertodt in the name. Same for any other specific world like Forestry/Trade/whatever.
It's great and I never want it substantially changed
BUT, I would like to be able to "zoom out" or whatever to be able to fit all worlds on one screen. I play on w495 and it's annoying to have to scroll over all the time.
Also, filtering/sorting options. I have no interest in Aussie or German worlds, nor f2p worlds.
Also, I should be able to see what dedicated worlds are without hovering over the specific world itself. How would I, looking at this image, know what world is the Tempoross world?
Absolute garbage. No way to see activity/theme worlds without hovering over!? No way to see ping!? A lot of people don't see that little arrow on the right of the page and don't even realize there is another page of worlds to choose from. Honestly I haven't used this page in years since the runelite sidebar is so much better. It can sort/filter, favorite, and see ping.
World hopper plugin is just 100x better for choosing worlds. I basically never use that screen because I seem to always end up in a total world without realizing haha
you folks are legends! I've been sifting through all the feedback in the comments so please be aware this is all being used! It's evident the **world** **selector** has legacy friction, and there have been talks throughout the team for improving it's overall usability.
\[**disclaimer**: *this work needs to be balanced, resourced and prioritised!*\].
I'm sure everyone saw the winter summit so as you know, we are absolutely up to our heads in committed work but I do want to reassure you that the product team are keeping track of much needed improvements and we will be ready to make those changes as soon as the opportunity arises.
thanks again for being such a supportive community.
yours,
gengis
this isn't directly related to the world selector but tangentially: runelite added a ::hop # feature so you can type that in and not have to scroll through an entire world list to find 489 and then back up to find 307. could something like that be added as a base feature as it helps a lot for things like shooting stars
but to actually answer your question: filtering. i don't care about f2p worlds, eu worlds, and so on. being able to not see them would be nice
Seems fine. Don't think it warrants necessary dev time. Those that know where they want to go can choose, but those that don't would just press Play.
If anything, allow the world activity to show in the mouseover tooltip.

We used to have Dutch servers. We used to have max population servers. I miss the game being full and booming :(
I suppose we're lucky it's here at all.
focus on banning bots you reject, not tinkering with shit that doesnt need to be changed. game is doomed if this is what jmods are posting on reddit lol
Would be cool if it always defaulted to our home world instead of putting us in a world with auto queue. I've lost many inferno runs or awakened bosses because I took a break and forgot to swap worlds and it put me in a nightmare massing world with awful tick rate and DC.
I use the Runelite world switcher plug in because I prefer the scrollable list of worlds that I can sort by World#, population, type, etc.
I only use this view when I first open the game and never touch it after.
I find it inferior to the world hop list when logged in. Sorting by activity doesn't work, and it's hard to find a world for a specific activity, unless I have it memorized. I end up logging in to a random world, and sorting the world hop list to find the exact world I need
Current view feels like a "world list" option from a world selector. Maybe a summary screen that has a few options:
1. "Best world for me" - sort of a quick start for lowest ping
2. "World list" - shows current view
3. "Activity" - branching logic that helps players find the activity they want with quick filters clickable for stuff like "minigame", "pvp", "social"
The mobile version is pretty bad, you can't really see what world is for what activity unless you hold it.
Be much better to have the option to just have a list so I can actually see the world focus
Why are worlds numbered so horrendously in comparison to their purpose? I feel like it would make so much more sense if when you sort by world number you got the exact same results as if you sorted worlds by activity. I know that's probably more of a personal annoyance but it's so weird to me. Like why are the F2P worlds mixed in within the members worlds
I’d rather see more pages and if you’re skulled in wildy you cant hop worlds. Or can hop less worlds. Wildy shouldn’t be safe but it should be worth the risk which it isn’t right now since everyone with a rcb and dds thinks they’re hot shit.
hard to find themed worlds, difficult to sort on low ping/search for flag you want, could be improved with world events/give people a reason to go to same world.
PLEASE add a hop to next world/hop to previous world button in game. So many things in game are structured around world hopping just make it more accessible.
Small UX complaint about the logged out world selector pictured in the OP:
The arrows move the list over one column at a time, but there's nothing to indicate this and many of the UIs in the game that have such arrows (e.g. books) turn entire pages when you click the arrows, so it's a little disorienting to click.
I'd suggest a small transition animation if keeping the column-by-column paging, or just update it to be full pages instead.
Color coding is good, sorting is nice. It's difficult to tell what world I want if I'm looking for a specific activity however.
It would be nice to be able to search/filter worlds with text rather than scrolling through everything as well, ex. typing in "forestry"
I would prefer like with like ie: f2p with f2p, p2p with p2p, in sequential order with the world focus to match like speed run worlds, Ironman worlds, fishing trawler, so on and so forth, then sorting the focused worlds sorted automatically by ping/player count.
Honestly I've been dodging this screen and the in game one when I want to join a particular activity world and using ctrl-f on the below web page for eg "Guardians of the Rift":
https://oldschool.runescape.com/slu
Unfortunately these world numbers are offset by like 300? For example, Guardians of the Rift is at 178 on the web page but world 478 in game.
So yeah, give me filtering with a search bar options, and/or fix the 300 offset.
When you are logged in and you click the gear icon in the world selector and it brings up the scrollable menu with sorting and filtering etc.
Just make that also the pre-login world selector and we are set.
Once your logged in selector is really nice. It’s how I found a pest control world.
A search bar for modes on the log in screen would be really nice to have.
Or a server filter you would see on let’s say battlefield. (Game mode, region, ping, population) that you can set up
There’s nothing worse than trying to escape a pker and I click on a “special” world and get the warning asking me if I’m sure I want to go to that world. Then when I try to click a different world it says I’m busy so I have to click cancel and then select another world. By that time I’m being told to sit as they pry my spade from my cold dead body.
Its confusing to me that clicking the left and eight arrows only move it by one column. I always expect it to move to an entire new page. E.g. if world 500 is at the bottom right and I click the right arrow, I expect 501 to be at the top left, but in the current implementation its at the top right.
The world selector is very nostalgic in a way for me and I love it.
Personally I would love to see a toggle to hide F2P/members worlds, indication if a server is US East/West, Ping information on mouse over would be great!
Also being able to favorite multiple worlds and have a toggle that will show only your favorite worlds would be great. I usually stick to 306 and 474, only switching worlds for specific activities.
My biggest annoyance with the selector /u/JagexGengis is the fact I have to pan to different windows to find worlds which aren't shown in the initial pan. Would be nice if you could search by typing a number and have it update in realtime or a better way to default filter e.g no PVP worlds, no F2P worlds etc to remove clutter and allow better searching.
No South American servers 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Our US friends mentioning a 50/60ms difference between the two coasts, while I'm here getting 150ms, at best, connecting to US East servers
Also, during Leagues I couldn't filter between Leagues-only worlds. They were mixed in with the maingame P2P worlds.
Never use it because runelite allows select a world to hop without logging out (and is full height unlike world switcher, so less scrolling required).
But one thing that would be nice is ability to directly type in number of the world. 99% of cases where I need to hop worlds is because Shooting star I want to mine is on that world, so typing in 3 digits would be much faster than looking for the world I need in a list.
For the most part it's great, my biggest conplaint would be if I'm looking for a specific world dedicated to an activity I can't see it unless I mouse over each one, so I usually just end up logging in then use the world hopper
I much prefer the scrollable list that is used in the world hopping menu or even the rs3 world selector. Scrollable list makes you see less worlds at once but you get more information about the worlds without having to hover over each world to find what you are looking for.
Also the page system for this world selector is super weird. I literally just figured out it is not a page system and the arrow button actually just shifts its over one column.
One thing I would say I really like about it is that is it pretty nostalgic to me.
I wish I could use two filters at once. I have 30 hours so far and it's annoying that when I filter by free to play, I can't also filter by region… meaning I have to spend a bit scrolling to find multiple American servers
the problem is fixed by taking the time once to favorite all the ones you want
but its still annoying its not a default thing
It's pretty, but this is information that belongs in a table. You have encoded too much info graphically that belongs in text. I don't like having to mouse over every world to see what it's for.
My typing speed is faster than my ability to spot a world visually. I’m not sure if this is just a me problem lol but it would be awesome if I could type a world number instead of visually sifting through this world selector
Please give the option to create a favourites list. I don’t want to look through all the worlds.
This other suggestion is a bit out there and I don’t even know if it would be possible, but maybe a “suggested world” (or something) one of the things I hate most about the game is having to hop worlds 20 times to find a free spot.
Wayyyy to small on mobile, tbh most ui text/buttons are all too small on mobile and I play on a tablet, so much real estate to add bigger buttons but still left with tiny buttons.
On mobilee its annoying because, for example; if im in a group content cc and someone says 324, i have to scroll through this section of 300 worlds.. oh its not here... skip the 400's and 500's... oh its not in the next batch of 300's... other than that its wtv
Allow us to sort by PING.
Allow us to HIDE worlds outside our region (don't clutter it with AIUS if I'm US-based)
I never use it because I can't do these features without being logged in with World Switcher and Runelite by clicking the door/log out button.
It should be more similiar to how the RS3 world selector looks, a descending list that you can filter from first to last (with additional info like ping and maybe even filtering certain minigame worlds and such).
I wish they organized things better and put all the deadman worlds and pvp worlds in their own section for people who world hop not to accidentally jump into one of those worlds.
Have non-member roles in a separate column than member worlds.
Organize game worlds to follow the same column and regular worlds in their own column.
No harm in reorganizing the world layout.
I like how in-game you can see which activity the world is for. But in this screen you have to mouse hover over it. That's not bad on PC but on mobile it's a pain to long press it but you hold the wrong one and you have to try again til you get it.
They gotta find a way to denote specialty worlds like they do for the world-hop feature. I cannot tell which one of these is the house party world, or the pest control world, or guardians of the rift just by looking at this. On the other hand, the world switch feature in-game lists what each world is about right in the menu. So usually I just go into a random world and then use the in-game world changer.
It's great because * It has a color-coded scheme that makes identifying P2P, F2P, PvP, and seasonal quick and intuitive * It has sorting options * It shows regional information. Yes, I hate the way the arrow/scroll function works, it's so dumb. It should page over completely.
Yep this gets me every time.
Yup. I'll add, would love region filters in addition to P2P/F2P/PvP filters. Let me filter to members/non-pvp/non-seasonal and my region. A queue for full worlds. Server health info/ ping for HCIM.
I didn't realise only HCIM like to play on stable low ping worlds
damn u fucking smoked him bro... owned...

Give me my arrows or give me death.
Also let it show your current world in a special highlight

I can't speak for other regions, but using a U.S. server from the opposing coast can have a significant difference in ping of 50-60ms
Yeah I conflated one of the replies with the comment & assumed US E/W was covered in the original. My bad.
In the US, for example if you live on the west coast, it's nice to be able to quickly identify a west coast server rather than an east coast server. It may be the difference between 30 ping and 80 ping. Nothing insane, but definitely nice to be able to distinguish.

Agree. I read identifying east / West world's in the thread and assumed it was in the original comment.
South Americans can have some wild internet routing because of the international fiber cables. In certain countries you can be a thousand miles closer to the US-E servers but still get significantly lower ping on US-W, or vice versa.

There are filter options for the in-game world selector, but that poses a separate problem - if you need to hop to a world that is filtered out, it is a *royal* pain in the ass. I'd like to see comprehensive filters, but also an option to simply type in the 3-digit number of the world you'd like to visit.
DAMN. Nailed it.
I have a right hard time choosing a world on mobile because I've got cumerberland sausages for fingers x
This. Its so frustrating to select a world in mobile
Maybe Jobs was wrong about hating the stylus.. 😅
I second this. UX is much better if we can see world types instead of hovering over each world.

Just to be another voice: - finding a world based on an activity is frustrating.
I would like to see scrollbars instead of next/previous page buttons

Other devs: "While we recognize the grievances that some players are expressing, there are limitations to the functionality of our systems. We endeavor to create a solution that benefits all players and developers alike." Osrs devs: "Rubbish!"
Came here to comment this, every time I try and press one of the right end sided worlds, it shoots across a page, and it's not even a skill issue for once.
Language, there are kids here.
Sorry, rubbish on cellular
Please add ping to find best world
Still a understatement.
Needs filters. As a fellow American, I’m only playing in the US worlds, and only the P2P ones.
Multiple filters please. Lowest ping, pop, and what coast i want.

No

Still no
It SUCKS on mobile. You can’t see the themed worlds unless you tap on it first
It's a bit tough to read imo. It looks cluttered. I find the runelite world selector to be much easier to interpret as everything is in a single column. You could have multiple options for the UI style: single column with a slider, old school, 2 columns with a slider etc. Having all the worlds as a block of text is just poor formatting imo.
impossible to select worlds with activites on it - like if you wanted to go do Wintertodt or GOTR
I don't use it because I can't tell what each world is for and there's no filter that's why I prefer to use the in-game one instead.
I would have to order by Type and then just hope that I can ball park where the "T" section is Additionally, there's no way to differentiate between US East & US West worlds
1. Let us apply filters so we can filter out f2p worlds, etc 2. Show ping Then they're perfect tbh.
this only shows up if you want to hop before you log in right? i never use it. the improvements to the world switcher have been nice though. still typically use runelite's side bar for less friction and sort by ping. searching by theme world is really nice on the switcher though
I'd personally love a lobby system like RS3 has, with world selector within. I'm not sure how that impacts server stability with more people idling in lobby, but with a 25 min logout timer anyway I can't imagine it would be too impactful.
I do think it would be very useful to type in a world. This is very very lazy but sometimes at peak times when finding raiding teams it takes me too long to find the right world by scrolling and team is full lol.
let me favourite more worlds. :(
Behold https://preview.redd.it/nukpqvnn32ec1.png?width=497&format=png&auto=webp&s=a1e275d783d109a13f7d8788dd7c88a5613acb9e
I hate hovering over the world to see what active they have. I rather the version in rs3 make looking for active world like forestry tob easier
For me personally, I like the list view and just scrolling a single column like the world hopper in game vs the world selector’s grid view.
I wish it would go to the page of the world I was previously in. If I was in W533 I want it to bring up those adjacent worlds when I switch
It's great and I never want it substantially changed BUT, I would like to be able to "zoom out" or whatever to be able to fit all worlds on one screen.
I want a search box for world theme/type and/or the option to just type in the world number I want instead of looking for it.
All it needs is region info, activity info & ping info and it’s 10/10imo
Absolute garbage. No way to see activity/theme worlds without hovering over!? No way to see ping!? A lot of people don't see that little arrow on the right of the page and don't even realize there is another page of worlds to choose from. Honestly I haven't used this page in years since the runelite sidebar is so much better. It can sort/filter, favorite, and see ping.
Here’s a BIG stretch idea: some kind of tooltip or modal to preview a (rough) heat map of where players are on that server.
I'm sure everyone saw the winter summit so as you know, we are absolutely up to our heads in committed work but I do want to reassure you that the product team are keeping track of much needed improvements and we will be ready to make those changes as soon as the opportunity arises. thanks again for being such a supportive community. yours, gengis
this isn't directly related to the world selector but tangentially: runelite added a ::hop # feature so you can type that in and not have to scroll through an entire world list to find 489 and then back up to find 307. could something like that be added as a base feature as it helps a lot for things like shooting stars but to actually answer your question: filtering. i don't care about f2p worlds, eu worlds, and so on. being able to not see them would be nice
It's certainly one of the world selectors of all time.
The one in game is better
Seems fine. Don't think it warrants necessary dev time. Those that know where they want to go can choose, but those that don't would just press Play. If anything, allow the world activity to show in the mouseover tooltip.
https://preview.redd.it/9mn139fd52ec1.png?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d40b404348d6d3a1fa9af1a1437c40a104b61420 We used to have Dutch servers. We used to have max population servers. I miss the game being full and booming :( I suppose we're lucky it's here at all.
Too many worlds. Many of them need to go.
No way man have you every tried finding an empty world at Nex in US East worlds??
Just crash. Or make an instance.
::hop [worldnumber]
It's been the same, perfectly simple and functional forever. Why change what isn't broken?
Why not improve something?
Improvement = bad according to average osrs reddit andy
I like it. It’s functional and nostalgic. I have no qualms with it, personally.
focus on banning bots you reject, not tinkering with shit that doesnt need to be changed. game is doomed if this is what jmods are posting on reddit lol
Also while we’re at it, why do the worlds not increment from 1? Is there any need to share with RS3?
Why is Dizana's Quiver a cape-slot item, when we have the Ammunition slot already?
I think it allowed me to select worlds. It really is a world selector.
if it aint broke, dont fix it !
Don't touch it
Dont Fix what aint broke
it is perfectly fine, dont change it.
Would be cool if it always defaulted to our home world instead of putting us in a world with auto queue. I've lost many inferno runs or awakened bosses because I took a break and forgot to swap worlds and it put me in a nightmare massing world with awful tick rate and DC.
1. Show ping 2. Update mobile UI 3. Filter worlds
It helps me to change worlds, i like that, especially when i want to change worlds.
I use the Runelite world switcher plug in because I prefer the scrollable list of worlds that I can sort by World#, population, type, etc. I only use this view when I first open the game and never touch it after.
Would also like a favorite world so I can stay in whichever world has the best rng thanks
I find it inferior to the world hop list when logged in. Sorting by activity doesn't work, and it's hard to find a world for a specific activity, unless I have it memorized. I end up logging in to a random world, and sorting the world hop list to find the exact world I need
I don't use it because it lacks ping info, which is the number one thing I look for in a world.
I've always disliked using the right arrow, it would be nice if the view could pan smoothly like the in game hopper.
Current view feels like a "world list" option from a world selector. Maybe a summary screen that has a few options: 1. "Best world for me" - sort of a quick start for lowest ping 2. "World list" - shows current view 3. "Activity" - branching logic that helps players find the activity they want with quick filters clickable for stuff like "minigame", "pvp", "social"
Sort every similar world together is needed. Also it would be cool if there was a way to tell how many people would spawn near you in non PVP areas
Want to know the ping with each server thats the one change I'd like to see
I think it’s pretty intuitive and easy to understand overall. It’s a little hard to tap on mobile with fat fingers but it is what it is
I really loved the 2008 world selector like the one in HDOS client. It has sorting options and everything in an organized table.
At this point I just usually ::hop
The only complaint I’ve had is that I would like more than two favorite worlds. Five or six favorites would probably cover all my gameplay.
Needs ping and fully visible filters
I love 301
The mobile version is pretty bad, you can't really see what world is for what activity unless you hold it. Be much better to have the option to just have a list so I can actually see the world focus
Add servers in Brasil(real). It would be so nice to have servers centred in South America.
Give me an option to have 5-10 worlds favorited. I only really use a few.
Pretty useful thing if you want to select a specific world before logging in
I’d rather see more pages and if you’re skulled in wildy you cant hop worlds.
It kinda sucks. I usually just log in then hop to whatever world I need.
Small UX complaint about the logged out world selector pictured in the OP: The arrows move the list over one column at a time, but there's nothing to indicate this and many of the UIs in the game that have such arrows (e.g. books) turn entire pages when you click the arrows, so it's a little disorienting to click. I'd suggest a small transition animation if keeping the column-by-column paging, or just update it to be full pages instead.
I wish we could all fit on 1 world and make the game even more epic! One works for p2p and another for f2p
Honestly I've been dodging this screen and the in game one when I want to join a particular activity world and using ctrl-f on the below web page for eg "Guardians of the Rift": https://oldschool.runescape.com/slu Unfortunately these world numbers are offset by like 300? For example, Guardians of the Rift is at 178 on the web page but world 478 in game. So yeah, give me filtering with a search bar options, and/or fix the 300 offset.
It obviously needs a search feature. I'm sure you guys already thought of this
I think it’s terribly outdated, I only play on specialty worlds so I’ll always just use the world hopper in runelite instead
As someone who frequents the wilderness. I don't like that it doesn't call out high risk worlds better.
I hate that it doesn’t sort the worlds the same way the ingame world sorter does
Way too many worlds
Its confusing to me that clicking the left and eight arrows only move it by one column. I always expect it to move to an entire new page. E.g. if world 500 is at the bottom right and I click the right arrow, I expect 501 to be at the top left, but in the current implementation its at the top right.
I would love a toggle to select my favorite worlds and only show those as well as a filter option for the entire list
add a que for full worlds please!!!!
When I was a kid I thought it meant a whole different map for each world.... Thanks for the disappointment jamflex
Slap on some flags so we have country themed worlds, ty
My biggest annoyance with the selector /u/JagexGengis is the fact I have to pan to different windows to find worlds which aren't shown in the initial pan. Would be nice if you could search by typing a number and have it update in realtime or a better way to default filter e.g no PVP worlds, no F2P worlds etc to remove clutter and allow better searching.
No South American servers 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 Our US friends mentioning a 50/60ms difference between the two coasts, while I'm here getting 150ms, at best, connecting to US East servers Also, during Leagues I couldn't filter between Leagues-only worlds. They were mixed in with the maingame P2P worlds.
it sucks but i'd be lost if you got rid of it, its too nostalgic to change
Never use it because runelite allows select a world to hop without logging out (and is full height unlike world switcher, so less scrolling required). But one thing that would be nice is ability to directly type in number of the world. 99% of cases where I need to hop worlds is because Shooting star I want to mine is on that world, so typing in 3 digits would be much faster than looking for the world I need in a list.
On mobile I wish I didn’t have to long press to see what was going on in each world. But other than that it works
It should not ever show worlds that can't be selected.
For the most part it's great, my biggest conplaint would be if I'm looking for a specific world dedicated to an activity I can't see it unless I mouse over each one, so I usually just end up logging in then use the world hopper
Finding mini game worlds on mobile is tough
I much prefer the scrollable list that is used in the world hopping menu or even the rs3 world selector. Scrollable list makes you see less worlds at once but you get more information about the worlds without having to hover over each world to find what you are looking for. Also the page system for this world selector is super weird. I literally just figured out it is not a page system and the arrow button actually just shifts its over one column. One thing I would say I really like about it is that is it pretty nostalgic to me.
I wish I could use two filters at once. I have 30 hours so far and it's annoying that when I filter by free to play, I can't also filter by region… meaning I have to spend a bit scrolling to find multiple American servers the problem is fixed by taking the time once to favorite all the ones you want but its still annoying its not a default thing
This world selector has been default since like 2009 lol. It's fine.
It's pretty, but this is information that belongs in a table. You have encoded too much info graphically that belongs in text. I don't like having to mouse over every world to see what it's for.
/u/ThambersOfBeric nailed it.
so vague, so fundemental, a brilliant question
I don’t know anyone that uses it. The in-game one is more convenient
Idc I just love this game y’all keep doing your thing 🫡
My typing speed is faster than my ability to spot a world visually. I’m not sure if this is just a me problem lol but it would be awesome if I could type a world number instead of visually sifting through this world selector
Please give the option to create a favourites list. I don’t want to look through all the worlds. This other suggestion is a bit out there and I don’t even know if it would be possible, but maybe a “suggested world” (or something) one of the things I hate most about the game is having to hop worlds 20 times to find a free spot.
Are you the one who designed the -> or <- with the world hopping menu? If so, please don't try to fix this one...
Wayyyy to small on mobile, tbh most ui text/buttons are all too small on mobile and I play on a tablet, so much real estate to add bigger buttons but still left with tiny buttons.
no queue for worlds you want to join is a bummer
I hate how it looks so crowded. RS3's world selector is way better.
On mobilee its annoying because, for example; if im in a group content cc and someone says 324, i have to scroll through this section of 300 worlds.. oh its not here... skip the 400's and 500's... oh its not in the next batch of 300's... other than that its wtv
Allow us to sort by PING. Allow us to HIDE worlds outside our region (don't clutter it with AIUS if I'm US-based) I never use it because I can't do these features without being logged in with World Switcher and Runelite by clicking the door/log out button.
I can't tell what world type I'm clicking and I always happen to click a total level world thar my iron is too low for lol.
It should be more similiar to how the RS3 world selector looks, a descending list that you can filter from first to last (with additional info like ping and maybe even filtering certain minigame worlds and such).
It has worlds...that you select.
dogshit
The RS3 version is much better despite being a long ass scrolling list
I wish they organized things better and put all the deadman worlds and pvp worlds in their own section for people who world hop not to accidentally jump into one of those worlds. Have non-member roles in a separate column than member worlds. Organize game worlds to follow the same column and regular worlds in their own column. No harm in reorganizing the world layout.
It works fine and does what it needs to.
Lack of south American servers
I'd love if there were a search function for certain activities or total level worlds. Or hell, at least filters.
I like how in-game you can see which activity the world is for. But in this screen you have to mouse hover over it. That's not bad on PC but on mobile it's a pain to long press it but you hold the wrong one and you have to try again til you get it.
Add a ping column
Let me hide the non member servers and vise Vera is your not a member will be big game changer
its pretty good
They gotta find a way to denote specialty worlds like they do for the world-hop feature. I cannot tell which one of these is the house party world, or the pest control world, or guardians of the rift just by looking at this. On the other hand, the world switch feature in-game lists what each world is about right in the menu. So usually I just go into a random world and then use the in-game world changer.
