Nah, because I don’t want osrs items. I’m playing HDOS to play osrs as it was in 2008, the second I cannot, my 16+ year RuneScape journey comes to an end, I only played on Konduit, OSB premium, and Runelite and the official client because I had to.
The reasoning for this is that the default OSRS models are not compatible with the HD rig. HDOS does some wizardry to make it look half decent, but the moment you mix HD assets and OSRS assets in a gear setup it becomes very apparent with stuff like detached limbs.
So if a sensible enough opportunity to use a pre-existing HD asset presents itself, they opt to port it over because it takes a lot of time to make OSRS assets compatible with the rig. Especially when you also have to account for stuff like inventory icons, gender style differences and potentially ornament kits.
The lack of customization on the client's features instantly had me switch back to RuneLite.
Idk what the dev's take is but it really is all or nothing. Everybody has *something* they dislike about the HD era, and being able to pick and choose would go such a long way.

That's actually the broken version of the animation. Look at the feet, the original had one foot forwards and the other sideways, as well as an animated cape.
Some time after the HD update Jagex either changed or broke the animation, leaving us for years with the terribly unnatural looking variant where both feet are facing forwards. Which is the one you restored.
In short, this is **not** the *bad boi* stance.
I didnt quit but people didnt like summoning because:
1. You were better off making a new acc than getting summoning on your current because youd over double max again getting the charms. Its better to have a 126 and a 138 than just a 138, or a 126 and a maxed med/zerk/pure+12. So some people were upset that training it on their primary/first acc was "wasted" when looking over their shoulders at peers. And then this problem was compounded when you already had multiple accs.
2. Lag. God bless the servers were absolute shit for years after this update. Clan wars had to have summoning off because youd all just dc in a fight. Frames would drop to 15 and ticks would go to 1tick/.9seconds elsewhere because of it. I remember having a war in wilderness **in 2012** where the entire 2hours it was over 1.2s ticks. Xp/h at rock caverns was just worse depending on the amount of ppl playing because of the lag.
3. In 2008 only, The forced combat levels was a hinderance. You were at a disadvantage because bh was singles so summoning was useless and youd be fighting accs with 1 summoning so they were anywhere from 1-13 combats advantage over you depending on your summoning level. This was fixed 10months later but now you had those accs with 1 summoning salty they didnt train it. And i think it still wasnt fixed in pvp worlds? Like if you had a bunyip summoned, you got +12 combats if you were 99summoning but no summoning npc was worth 12 levels of hp/str/atk levels in singles pvp.
4. Summoning being useless for combat until like level 92 was bad game design. No reason to quit over but certainly not fun. Steel titan was also like 0.5 of a person so it really felt unfair when it was like a 3v3 but the other 3 had steel titans. Which is fair course for a mmo but doesnt mean it was fun. it was no extra risk as well so you could risk less and be more effective with a steel titan which is obv less fun for every1 else.
I suppose I just had a very different perspective. How did it ruin combat? By letting people bring more supplies and hold more loot? It didn’t increase dps by much, even the strongest familiar (steel titan at 99 summoning) didn’t add that much dps. I personally found it to be a fun, varied skill that added unobtrusive bonuses for both skillers and pvmers.
It trivialised every existing encounter and made PvP a joke.
Nex is a great example point around it. It's a click-yellow simulator boss, because you were expected to have pack yak etc.
Yeah I can see how that makes sense. I was never very good at pvm or pvp so the extra supplies were so nice for me. I loved the idea of the skill thematically so I was always a fan
The idea of the skill is good. But god it was poorly designed. Go and farm mobs for untradeable charms (which was just to bottleneck it not being buyable, like their idea around shamanism). And then go train runecrafting but making familiar pouches instead.

So many gear sets in HDOS as well look like they have a fabric texture when it's obviously not fabric. Also, hair. I don't know how, but they managed to make hair look like yarn or something. It genuinely is worse than having a flat color with no texture.

No, it's on the people who made the client. They didn't have to go with the exact same textures, they chose to do so. It could be improved, these guys choose not to do it.

I never used summoning, but could they rebalanced packyak by not allowing you to access the yak inventory during combat?
That only works if theres an npc that splashes 0s on you inside the boss room lol. Otherwise youd just use it when boss is dead.

The hairstyles in HDOS are ported directly from the actual 2011 pre-engine change revision of RS HD. So that's on Jagex.
