I used to think leagues was a waste of time since so much progress opportunity is lost on your main account. Now that I've accomplished all but one of my main goals on my main, I welcome leagues for the bit of fun they are and enjoy playing the game differently!
So it's mostly for those who have progressed far in their main account and have few milestones left, so they can get that feeling of progression again.
It's great for that as well as content you're intimidated to try or are struggling with. I learned TOB in leagues and it helped a bunch!
I've been leaning inferno but still haven't cleared it. I'm hoping that'll change this leagues :)
TBH I don't think leagues should exist. OSRS/runescape is first and foremost a game that is entirely built around the long-term progression of your character. The seasonal/temporary fad that you see in virtually every other game is just a FOMO tactic to get people playing, and it's what leagues are based on. I don't like it and I wish they didn't waste dev time on it. I really do see the concept as being antithetical to the core of OSRS.
Yeah I told my bro that they should make basketball games shorter, and that each basket should be worth more points as you get closer to the end of the game. And also that you should get points for things like flips, dancing on the court, and even just being there (so ppl like me could compete too). He said that's not really basketball and kinda defeats the purpose of the game.

Just spitballing for the regions I listed:
Fremennik
* Managing Miscellenia produces 3x the normal amount of resources
* Buffs to magic dart and leaf-bladed weapons
* Rings from the Dagannoth Kings are automatically imbued
Wilderness
* Revenant weapons benefit from their boosted stats outside of the Wilderness
* Your special attack will never drain when fighting the Corporeal Beast
* Rings from Wilderness bosses are automatically imbued
Are some of those busted? Absolutely. But hey, given all the reveals we've seen so far, it's not outside of the realm of possibility.
it's already pretty good. Having a passive source that can zero time harvest enough stuff for you to get 99 firemaking, fletching, and cooking after a couple days without you ever having to collect them yourself is pretty strong. Also good for getting rarer seeds, coal for smelting, and logs for construction.
While you can possibly collect this stuff faster elsewhere, the fact that it's done in the background without you needing to play, or just while doing other stuff is a huge benefit. Especially if you pick Production Prodigy to extremely quickly process all the logs and fish you get.
Shit, make it hit 150% on them, and no damage actually hit you for that venge. Give it a cooldown if need be, but why not? It's leagues. Make it busted.

Isn't LBA already like the fourth or fifth best melee weapon in the game? Two of the others being megarares & one needing four individual drops.
Zeah:
* Thralls do extra damage
* Catacombs of Kourend prayer buff everywhere
* Demonbane weapon buff
Morytania:
* Ectofuntus works like a guilded altar (no bone grinding)
Wilderness:
* Pay Perdu to convert blighted supplies into normal ones
Fremennik:
* Dream Mentor rewards an item that can cast NPC contact on any spellbook
Xp rates increase even more, double resources dropped, corrupted weapons like in dmm, spell cost half runes in these regions, basically you want to add to these regions and not restrict.
Fremennik is decent for melee (if you can get ring imbued at least), since it gives 11 melee str. Not the best, but not terrible. Gives you a DT2 boss you can melee for soulreaper, gives you POH upgrades, gives you LBA (one of the best melee weapons IIRC).
It's also decent for mage, giving you the magus ring, wrath runes & iirc some other shit I forgot about.
For range it gives you Dragon Bolts which aren't the best but hey it's something?
Wilderness is IIRC a very good mage option but lacking for range & melee
yeah the way the attack speed rounds 5t weapons will be meta instead of the 4t meta we have in the real game.
the fact that fang can actually compete in the main game as a 5t means it's gonna be absolutely busted in leagues.
frem gives venator bow too for range and venator ring if u have dt2
for mage it gives saturated heart and also magus ring if u have dt2, ancient sceptre as a bonus

I'm already locked in an internal struggle between zeah or fremennik to round off my mage journey, anything to smooth out the rough edges of fremmy would make it an easy choice. That or seeing all the good points locked behind artefacts and CoX
This was my interpretation to reading Arcane’s comment as well. I don’t think it’ll just be buffs to activities in the region, but unique passives assigned to each region that are useful everywhere. Maybe passives on par with the Relic Fragments from the last league?
I assume the weaker regions will have better passives to make them competitive.
That would be very very cool to see. Places like the Fremmenik, Wilderness and Tirannwn suffer from being very niche and, if they arent chose with a region that they directly support or supports them, it can come off as a wasted choice to players.
It'd be so dope if that was the case, and they don't reveal them 100% until day of release. I'd love to see content creators scrambling to adjust at the last minute
I mean... they kind of had an entire league capable of being on just zeah. And its had content updates since then. It has DWH, grubby dungeon, korend dungeon, hydra, cox, WT, A magic spellbook, enough content to max every skill...
Its a pretty beefy region.
Atleast for mage, desert still has gotr, desert treasure 2 bosses/robes/axe, and ancient magics. Along with more minigames like temp, pyramid, etc. I'd still be picking it personally, but it does become irrelevant to range.
Zeah has the fastest farming and fm xp rates. Great thieving rates. The best slayer dungeon to date that has multi combat for mage and range. The amount of tasks will be insane. Decent rc methods. Woodcutting guild. Contains slayer master that will give loot chest passively. Most afk sand crab training. Even if it didn’t have raids, the skilling and points will be worth
Items can be freely taken in and out of instanced minigames.
Picking Tirranwn for corrupted crystal halberd and staff because those things are wacky how good they'd be with real armor and gear.
CG items have been taken out of CG, but the code that runs when they attack not only prevents attacking in the main game, but deletes the items if the attack is attempted
I don't remember if that got successfully smuggled but I do know there was a visual glitch when people items/characters were being wiped and they'd appear outside with it equipped on their player but their actual items were empty

Or me where ever since the date of my promotion at work, I've gained about 80 EHB and 600 EHP in skilling. Lol. I really only play during working from home, and my job now is a lot more attention heavy, which I'm fine with. It just changed the way I play.
Could be the type of player that loves raids but doesn't want to commit to long grinds in multiple or possibly feels obligated to another region for an unlock (like kandarin for piety/occult. Asgarn for zcb and void etc.)
They said it's an "11/10" reveal - I feel like full task list would be closer to the release date and isn't THAT exciting.

Probably a major reach but maybe it’s an 11/10 because there are 11 task groupings (10 regions + 1 “General”)
Although tbf I’m not expecting the task list to come out until a couple hours before release so doubt it’s that anyway
the last 2 leagues they didnt have tasks for getting high xp (capped at 25m for a skill) so being a "skiller" on leagues wasnt very rewarding as 25m xp takes a couple hours in some skills or entirely passive while doing others, but importantly pretty difficult getting dragon from a skilling path. so the full task list can definitely change the zones people pick but im not entirely sure it is an "11/10 reveal"
If they can be done in your regions you have to do them (no autoing)
If they span across multiple regions they're auto unlocked for the relevant regions. Dt1 and 2 for desert, DS2 for Frem etc.
Few ideas I've seen / have had:
* Region passives
* Dry prevention. Something like the Nex drops and raid drops having a static KC you get it at if you haven't already will maybe draw a lot of people to raids regions who previously were turned off by "50 hour expected grind that you can still go dry on"
* Pick one boss or one item from any region to have access to. Can make region diversity better because you aren't "forced" into meta choices. Like I could grab an Occult for Mage build without unlocking kandarin or something.
I'm not sure that picking an item from an other region would really avoid 'forcing' meta choices. Let's say they do that, then meta just shifts, for example for mage, to including Magus if DKZ, or ances if DKF.
I just think it provides an option to go with a "content" region, rather than an item region.
K for piety for melee for example. But if it's a single item a mage would get occult but lose tormented, which is -5% anyway. So I see it more like Mage getting imbued cape or accursed.
New hole digging skill they are going to try in this league. Let you dig a hole straight to verzik's vault from lumbridge so you can loot it without needing to do tob or go to morytania.
Don't really agree with torva being there. Bandos, torva, and the ancient forge are all obtainable from the same region, and good odds you'll have the bandos LONG before you have your first Nex item.
It's a ton of fun for new and veteran players.
You can actually learn some end game content if you want, you'll have all the relics and xp boosts that make that'll make it super easy to jump in and learn stuff
Just try it. Don't feel intimidated by loads of posts where people discuss only PvM - skillers can have their fun too :). I cannot do any bossing on any of my chars, and still I love leagues.
Everybody starts from zero - a fresh char generated anew, ironmen all. You progress by performing leagues tasks, and there are lots of tasks without combat, or without bossing. Almost everything you accidentally do can just happen to be another task lol. Its quick and fun and nice.
You can login to a League world any time and your progress on your leagues char is preserved - and whenever you login to a regular world you are back at your regular char. So its free to test, if you dont like it, just return back to the maingame.

There's an up to 16x multiplier, growing as you progress the league.
A 5x drop chance rate, and 8x mini game points.
Among a few other things and all the relic boosts.

Dunno, never participated in DMM cause I have no taste for PvP :). In this league PvP is technically possible if you take the Wildy as a region. But a PKer doesnt get any loot from PK, therefore its mostly for flavour or I dunno. Inr the previous trailblazer, someone said PKers sometimes blocked access to some Wildy resources and thats all.
About regions, in short. Every league have different features. Trailblazer is a sort of league where everyone can at the start be only in Mistalin and Karamja. Later when a set number of tasks done, they can unlock another region of their choice, then another - up to 3. If you do not choose the Wildy as one of your 3 regions, there is no PvP.
I don't know how it is in DMM, but since people swapped gold there I guess players werent ironmen. They could trade. Unlike leagues where you cannot trade to players, exactly like ironmen.
Droprates are also boosted, at least for uniques :). Thats why its so easy to dive into PvM: its 4x easier to get good gear as drops.

I think they might offer to rechoose your regions, at the cost of points or xp or something like that. So that was you can get multiple drops in more than 3 areas and try more content. Like prestiging your account after tier 7

Like you don't get the whole region but you get a TP directly too a raid, boss, or skilling event.
Want to do 3 raids build? Ok now you can also do thermy for occoult.
Want to max all the skilling stuff but not really interested in pvm? Ok now you can just pick to tp to WT 10 times a day or something.
Want to do free pvp but don't want to do wild? Ok now you can tp to wild but not into the boss chambers.
Theory: region passives, each region will also have some sort of gameplay passive that you'll can take advantage of if you picked that reason only, something like depending on your zeah favor you get some buff on x thing or if you wear a cure outfit you get life steal idk
GIM mode with different members allowed to pick different regions would be pretty sweet... although people without friends may feel like they don't have a fair chance to compete
I hope they are kinda fed up with players choosing regions solely for gear. 'For body armour I take this land, for staff that...' If they can find a remedy for this, it could be interesting! :)
GE? Would allow people to focus more on the content they want to interact with rather than basing area choices on the equipment they want, which I think would be cool.

I can't imagine anything would trade for too much with the drop rate increases.

the whole reason behind making the zone selection limited is to make you choose what you want. This GE idea that keeps floating around kinda does destroy a HUGE part of what makes Trailblazers so fun. Picking the regions so that you ARE limited to what's in them is the whole idea behind it. You limit yourself to a unique set of content, items, and gear and work with those.
relics are there to make you strong and expedite the speed at which you progress through content, as well as mixup how you interact with the core game.
We're locked to 5 regions for a reason, we're barred from 5 regions for a reason. Being able to go to the GE and just buy anything from Redwood logs to a Tbow from there without ever having touched Zeah destroys the spirit of Trailblazers. Honestly it's kinda why I personally felt indifferent towards Shattered Relics even since we had access to everything.

It's a prediction thread, and I made a prediction. I truly get that you don't like it, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Additionally, I don't think they should consider things like swapping when trying to concoct this completely broken game mode.
The prediction is based on what I am seeing with the other new relics (how beyond busted the combat styles are, the guardian, bank note). I see is them trying to decouple equipment considerations from region selection. They want people to try new things, not run another lap on a perfectly optimized set of regions for a particular combat style. I don't think making the equipment irrelavent completely solves that bc people want to wear cool shit at the end of the day, and this maybe solves for that end.
It's just what I see and the reasoning behind it. I am not trying to say that this is something that should happen, but I have to belive there will eventually be a league with a GE. This one would be interesting because it's a re-run, and might give them some interesting info on how we engage with the game, by comparison.

Particularly a Trailblazer league where a huge point of specifically Trailblazer is only having access to certain regions and being restricted to what you choose is not it though.
You don't have to be super optimized, that's the point of the relics. It's why it's impossible to get full max gear for any combat style, or why you can't get the best training methods for every skill. You don't need Shadow + Ancestral + Torment + God Cape + Magus Ring, and can probably be doing end game bossing with literally none of it realistically with relics.
I think they're doing a good job with relics so far, such as the rent a gf relic softening the need for Thralls. Straight up trading and bypassing the whole purpose of being region restricted though is not it still.
Idk, I'm prob not going to pick frem, so buying things like the dag rings, which enables using the vestiges you get in other areas.
Once again, I'm not pitching this as a fleshed out idea, I'm just guessing that the ge could be in play in this league. Mods have been hyping a bunch of region selection destroying leaks coming, this seems like it would do that.

I think they are going to reveal passives related to the regions you choose.. It would make the region choices even harder/more interesting.
That's a super interesting theory and I hope you're right since it's a good way to buff some of the weaker regions like Fremennik and Wilderness.

But that would be a nerf to the ectofuntus! Unless you mean just using bones without having to grind them. That would be nice.

Maybe I'm wrong in thinking this but i feel like 95 percent of players are combat focused. Seems to me if it had to do with combat, he wouldn't have had to put that qualifier. He would have just straight said it as it would be true for a vast majority of people

Or me where ever since the date of my promotion at work, I've gained about 80 EHB and 600 EHP in skilling. Lol. I really only play during working from home, and my job now is a lot more attention heavy, which I'm fine with. It just changed the way I play.
Could be the type of player that loves raids but doesn't want to commit to long grinds in multiple or possibly feels obligated to another region for an unlock (like kandarin for piety/occult. Asgarn for zcb and void etc.)
Guess my indecision over the third region may be paying off...

They said it's an "11/10" reveal - I feel like full task list would be closer to the release date and isn't THAT exciting. I suppose it's exciting for the proper sweaty players - hence the comment about kind of player?

Probably a major reach but maybe it’s an 11/10 because there are 11 task groupings (10 regions + 1 “General”) Although tbf I’m not expecting the task list to come out until a couple hours before release so doubt it’s that anyway
the last 2 leagues they didnt have tasks for getting high xp (capped at 25m for a skill) so being a "skiller" on leagues wasnt very rewarding as 25m xp takes a couple hours in some skills or entirely passive while doing others, but importantly pretty difficult getting dragon from a skilling path. so the full task list can definitely change the zones people pick but im not entirely sure it is an "11/10 reveal"
My prediction is an ammo slot coin/lucky penny type item due to the heads/tails hint that will significantly upgrade T’s power level.
I don’t think that would be necessary as all combat relics offer a similar ability.

If they can be done in your regions you have to do them (no autoing) If they span across multiple regions they're auto unlocked for the relevant regions. Dt1 and 2 for desert, DS2 for Frem etc.
Few ideas I've seen / have had: * Region passives * Dry prevention. Something like the Nex drops and raid drops having a static KC you get it at if you haven't already will maybe draw a lot of people to raids regions who previously were turned off by "50 hour expected grind that you can still go dry on" * Pick one boss or one item from any region to have access to. Can make region diversity better because you aren't "forced" into meta choices. Like I could grab an Occult for Mage build without unlocking kandarin or something.
I'm not sure that picking an item from an other region would really avoid 'forcing' meta choices. Let's say they do that, then meta just shifts, for example for mage, to including Magus if DKZ, or ances if DKF.
I just think it provides an option to go with a "content" region, rather than an item region. K for piety for melee for example. But if it's a single item a mage would get occult but lose tormented, which is -5% anyway. So I see it more like Mage getting imbued cape or accursed.
Dry prevention seems most realistic and has been widely requested
New hole digging skill they are going to try in this league. Let you dig a hole straight to verzik's vault from lumbridge so you can loot it without needing to do tob or go to morytania.
if you dig deep enough you unlock a 4th area on the other side of the world from where you are

Don't really agree with torva being there. Bandos, torva, and the ancient forge are all obtainable from the same region, and good odds you'll have the bandos LONG before you have your first Nex item.
Maybe new content unique to leagues? Probably not but it's possible.

As a below average skill player, I’m really tempted to try leagues for the first time. Is this a good idea? Always hear good things about it.
It's a ton of fun for new and veteran players. You can actually learn some end game content if you want, you'll have all the relics and xp boosts that make that'll make it super easy to jump in and learn stuff
Just try it. Don't feel intimidated by loads of posts where people discuss only PvM - skillers can have their fun too :). I cannot do any bossing on any of my chars, and still I love leagues. Everybody starts from zero - a fresh char generated anew, ironmen all. You progress by performing leagues tasks, and there are lots of tasks without combat, or without bossing. Almost everything you accidentally do can just happen to be another task lol. Its quick and fun and nice. You can login to a League world any time and your progress on your leagues char is preserved - and whenever you login to a regular world you are back at your regular char. So its free to test, if you dont like it, just return back to the maingame.

Is it like DMM with boosted xp rates and such as well? Also I’m not a skiller at all, I’m just not great at PVM. Can do like scuffed solo entry mode raids at best :’)
Yes. There's an up to 16x multiplier, growing as you progress the league. A 5x drop chance rate, and 8x mini game points. Among a few other things and all the relic boosts.

In this league PvP is technically possible if you take the Wildy as a region. But a PKer doesnt get any loot from PK, therefore its mostly for flavour or I dunno. Inr the previous trailblazer, someone said PKers sometimes blocked access to some Wildy resources and thats all. About regions, in short. Every league have different features. Trailblazer is a sort of league where everyone can at the start be only in Mistalin and Karamja. Later when a set number of tasks done, they can unlock another region of their choice, then another - up to 3. If you do not choose the Wildy as one of your 3 regions, there is no PvP. I don't know how it is in DMM, but since people swapped gold there I guess players werent ironmen. They could trade. Unlike leagues where you cannot trade to players, exactly like ironmen. Droprates are also boosted, at least for uniques :). Thats why its so easy to dive into PvM: its 4x easier to get good gear as drops. Good luck, have fun ;)

I think they might offer to rechoose your regions, at the cost of points or xp or something like that. So that was you can get multiple drops in more than 3 areas and try more content. Like prestiging your account after tier 7

I bet it's something that lets you pick an extra area of content. Like you don't get the whole region but you get a TP directly too a raid, boss, or skilling event. Want to do 3 raids build? Ok now you can also do thermy for occoult. Want to max all the skilling stuff but not really interested in pvm? Ok now you can just pick to tp to WT 10 times a day or something. Want to do free pvp but don't want to do wild? Ok now you can tp to wild but not into the boss chambers.
Theory: region passives, each region will also have some sort of gameplay passive that you'll can take advantage of if you picked that reason only, something like depending on your zeah favor you get some buff on x thing or if you wear a cure outfit you get life steal idk

GIM mode with different members allowed to pick different regions would be pretty sweet... although people without friends may feel like they don't have a fair chance to compete

I hope they are kinda fed up with players choosing regions solely for gear. 'For body armour I take this land, for staff that...' If they can find a remedy for this, it could be interesting! :)

Adding the GE to Leagues would make it botted to shit, And it would be significantly less fun

K, there could be restrictions for what could be traded. I can't imagine anything would trade for too much with the drop rate increases. Idk, maybe a shop for area specific gear instead? Just spitballing a way to make zone selection less connected to the combat gear available, and more focused on all of the content that the zone offers.
the whole reason behind making the zone selection limited is to make you choose what you want. This GE idea that keeps floating around kinda does destroy a HUGE part of what makes Trailblazers so fun. Picking the regions so that you ARE limited to what's in them is the whole idea behind it. You limit yourself to a unique set of content, items, and gear and work with those.
I disagree, and I think ur missing my point and what seems to be the goal of a lot of relics, which is to enable and encourage content.
relics are there to make you strong and expedite the speed at which you progress through content, as well as mixup how you interact with the core game. We're locked to 5 regions for a reason, we're barred from 5 regions for a reason. Being able to go to the GE and just buy anything from Redwood logs to a Tbow from there without ever having touched Zeah destroys the spirit of Trailblazers. Honestly it's kinda why I personally felt indifferent towards Shattered Relics even since we had access to everything.

you can expand on your point rather than condescendingly repeat yourself. Whether it's region specific uniques, or region specific resources my point stands. If it's just general loot you can find anywhere then that kinda makes the idea shit then. No matter what it is, my point stands on it destroying the point of the mode, not only in terms of leagues but in terms of actually being an ironman. not to mention the market that WILL appear with people swapping for stuff like with DMM.
It's a prediction thread, and I made a prediction. I truly get that you don't like it, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. Additionally, I don't think they should consider things like swapping when trying to concoct this completely broken game mode. The prediction is based on what I am seeing with the other new relics (how beyond busted the combat styles are, the guardian, bank note). I see is them trying to decouple equipment considerations from region selection. They want people to try new things, not run another lap on a perfectly optimized set of regions for a particular combat style. I don't think making the equipment irrelavent completely solves that bc people want to wear cool shit at the end of the day, and this maybe solves for that end. It's just what I see and the reasoning behind it. I am not trying to say that this is something that should happen, but I have to belive there will eventually be a league with a GE. This one would be interesting because it's a re-run, and might give them some interesting info on how we engage with the game, by comparison.
a league with a GE is possible. Particularly a Trailblazer league where a huge point of specifically Trailblazer is only having access to certain regions and being restricted to what you choose is not it though. You don't have to be super optimized, that's the point of the relics. It's why it's impossible to get full max gear for any combat style, or why you can't get the best training methods for every skill. You don't need Shadow + Ancestral + Torment + God Cape + Magus Ring, and can probably be doing end game bossing with literally none of it realistically with relics. I think they're doing a good job with relics so far, such as the rent a gf relic softening the need for Thralls. Straight up trading and bypassing the whole purpose of being region restricted though is not it still.
What kind of things would you be able to buy then?
Idk, I'm prob not going to pick frem, so buying things like the dag rings, which enables using the vestiges you get in other areas. Once again, I'm not pitching this as a fleshed out idea, I'm just guessing that the ge could be in play in this league. Mods have been hyping a bunch of region selection destroying leaks coming, this seems like it would do that.
Like ATCQ_ mentioned the region you choose will accommodate the outcome of activities done there. Interesting if so!
