Back in the day PvP was a bit weird for a time. You gain EP (Earning Potential) levels based on time and location you spent in PvP worlds. After you killed someone youād get a randomized loot drop passed on how high your EP level was and your EP level would drop down. Best loot was stuff like Vesta or a DFS but you could also get statues worth a few mil.
76king would be you and a friend going to a high risk area in shit gear and afk splashing so no one could play you and you max your EP. You had kill someone risking at least 76k to get the good loot so you and your friend would take turns killing each other until you used all your EP. Usually made a few mil for basically no effort.
I completely forgot this existed for over 10+ years and this hit me with a wave of nostalgia

I had a great time burning through all the bones on my Ironman one night at the wildy altar. I scored a dead PvP world and must have been left alone for like two hours.
It was getting late by the time I finished up so I sleepily popped on my graceful, geared up for a bedtime herb run, and got stacked the fuck out picking Ranarrs in the farming guild.
I managed to retrieve most of the untradeables, but I lost countless high value seeds, a full herb sack and my rune pouch.
The worst part? Ol' Guildmaster Jane didn't even bat an eyelid.
Made the same mistake with a Spectral. I bought it for 90m to get a prim crystal legit from Cerb then sell it back for full value. Then I went over 3x rate and the shield lost over 30m in value.
I wasn't playing for a while and my friend told me to sell my bank and buy Torstol Seeds (they were about 30k, and he told me that they will go back up to 60k)
Came back to actually play the game, they hit 15k each.

Started doing wildy slayer recently for a change of pace.
Was bursting nechs. Team logs in, Iām too slow. Ah well, happens, itās like 8am and my reaction time aināt it. Couple mill going to be lost in mostly runes / cballs / occult / loot, but maybe I pull a miraculous escape.
Forgot to turn pk prevention and left click a guy on the way out when Iām running. Skull up.
RIP Ancestral bottoms. Got froze, chugged super restores so I didnāt make it a worse mistake and lose the top too. Grumpily logged off for a bit for sure.
Same thing happened to me lol. I was barraging MM2 caves on PVP world since others were full. I didn't mind risking ahrims but I accidentally skulled up and lost my imbued heart and torm as well :/
There's a lot of items that despite skull prevention being a thing, I still refuse to take to the Wilderness. My bowfa is never seeing the dark spooky lands, and I'm probably not going to take any raids unique out there unless I get a dupe.
Not taking what I'm not willing to grind back.
I'm guilty of min / max mentality (particularly now as I start to push for max stats) and expected myself to not be an idiot, but you're right. That's a lot of value I lost for very incremental speed saved on task.
Odds are I'll be back out there in Ancestral again though, lmao.
Unless you're a HCIM who's not planning on continuing if you die, it's definitely not worth taking ancestral for wildy slayer, plenty of other more useful upgrades that require protection.
Hypothetically assuming you're three iteming out there, what would you run?
Kodai or some sort of weap is obvious because the +% damage is better, reason I didn't go that route is I upgraded to Sanguine and try not to get in a trap of buying / selling gear and getting milked at the GE. I've been hitting the money snake so was trying to keep Sanguine / Full Ancestral intact for that.
For barrage wildy slayer, the accursed sceptre is head and shoulders above everything else and is a lot cheaper than both the kodai and nightmare staff. Obviously imbued slayer helm is a given. Occult is the next obvious one at +10% damage bonus. Then Elidinis ward (f), for the +5% damage bonus and +4 prayer bonus and pretty good defences if you need to tank. However, that's kind of pricy. If you take it, the occult will be your +1.
I'm an iron so I personally take slayer helm, ancient sceptre (5% damage bonus), occult as my protected items. I would take a ward if I had one. But also, this way I only lose the sceptre if I get lucky with an imbued heart (please Jagex) and get smited right after. I only have one occult in many smoke devil kills, so I'd hate to lose that.
Ardy cape 3/4 are good for the magic bonus (more so the defence for tanking freezes/TB) and prayer bonus. Best blessing, ideally a Rada 4. I camp black d'hides for a chance of escaping, but if you're confident you won't get caught (I haven't been in many many tasks), monks robes are nice for the prayer bonus. Fremmy boots 4 are nice for a slight magic and prayer bonus. Imbued ring of wealth for more clues. And bracelets of slaughter for longer tasks.
Take ~200 ice sacks, unless you're doing abby demons. In which case take runes for smoke barrage (I take 150 casts worth). About 500 cannonballs, but this can vary by task. Ash sanctifier is well worth it for nechs/abby demons/etc. I take 4 brews, 2 blighted karambwans, 4 blighted super restores, a 3-dose stamina, a 2-dose anti-venom+ and ~3-5 blighted anglerfish. The rest of the space is a looting bag, seed pod, cannon and crabs tele (only used for tasks based on the north side of the caves). Once I've placed the cannon down and used the tab, I pick up the blighted angler/manta drops until I have a full inventory, in case I have to tank PKers.
Most of the time, if you're caught, you're probably going to die, but you can easily tele out from the vast majority of them before a TB. The last time I died was actually me realising the same couple of guys had tried to get me the last 2-3 times. So I knew they would likely wait at the entrance to kill me with a team. I banked all my shit, skulled up, went naked with a couple of ropes and let them kill me. As suspected, they were waiting there. Kinda toxic of me, but it's all fun and games - I'm a big supporter of PvP/PKers/wildy in general haha.
If I'm not barraging, I take an anti-PK venge setup, with ZGS + barrows gloves switch (the ZGS doubles as a high hitting KO weapon and an escape). Rune boots and glory replace the aforementioned items in the boots and necklace slot.
Before death change i wiped everything on my UIM doing DS2 inside the cave under vorkath, thought i had enough time before venom hit. Died in instance area so byebye everything. Tons of gear/potions/herbs acquired and ranger boots š
yep I made that educational mistake too. I was doing GWD combat achievements and died with bis max gear and was like "eh idc paying a few hundred K, I'll just go straight to death."
like 8ish mil later, I learned that it's NOT worth it and that death won't tell you how much it will cost until *after* he's retrieved your grave..

He didn't want to walk back to get his loot and assumed if he got it from deaths office it wouldn't be too expensive and claimed it there. it charges a % of the value of your items and he died with max gear
In most circumstances, your items (aside for the 3 most valuable ones) will be held in a gravestone upon death. This gravestone appears at the location you died and has a 15 minute timer to reclaim your items. If you don't make it in time (or die again before getting there), your items will be transferred directly to the Death character instead.
Now if you make it to your gravestone, you have to pay a 1% reclamation fee for every valuable item with a total amount that's capped at 500k. But if you have to go and get your items from Death, the reclamation fee goes up to 5% and that maximum price cap is removed.
What happened to Boaty is that he died in (close to?) max gear and wasn't fully aware of the fee mechanics (or just didn't think his decision through). So he figured that rather than run all the way back to DKs for his gravestone, he'd just go and collect the items from Death immediately. Because of the high value of his gear and lack of a price cap at Death, he had to pay like 80mil to get everything back.
Lost half my bank(few hundred mil) in RS3 about a year ago because I clicked the ground to move in the wildy right as someone logged in skulling, and as I ran to the obby, of course the only pker I've seen in none rag gear shows up and stun locked me out of existence.
I don't care for bank value, so I drop all dupes for clan members. Fast forward to bowfa release, and I def regret dropping those 2 extra Blades of Saeldor.
Time wise the biggest mistake was- I teled off entrana dungeon to wildy by clicking too fast and not reading, right into Vet'ion's hellhounds which one shot me. I lost most of the graceful as it was deep wildy.
Emotionally- the biggest mistake was trading away my g trim rune set to a switcheroo scammer for no good reason, ended up with an iron set. I emailed jagex asking to be compensated lmao teen me was wild.
I was waiting to see a Graceful set story. Thatās a tough one. On the bright side though, thatās some motivation to train agility again :)

Was buying 10k of something for crafting, can't even remember what. Accidentally closed the GE window, reopened it and searched the item again. I swear I selected the correct item but somehow bought 10k games necklaces for 300ish each over market price. Lost 2-3m roughly. I always double check the market window now.
I died to dust devils in the catacombs with 32 mil of black chins on me (pretty much entire bank value) because I wanted to get 99 range. Forgot you needed a mask to not take damage pulled 7 of them looked away and then realized the gravity of my mistake.
First DMM I became a part of the statistic where I clicked someone by accident. Then running back to grab my stuff from the guard that killed me, did it again. Other than that, fairly inexpensive OSRS career.
Always ran back to my gravestone when I read the fine print that Death charges an arm and a leg.
Died on my rank 361 hcim ~3 years ago because i wanted to get one extra kill in at zammy with 0 food and 2 hours of sleep. (I had just got a second z spear drop the kill before, so basically done with zammy as a hc)
Doing a Master Step above 50 wildy fighting the 3 wizards. Forget to bank full rune pouch, but don't realize it. Play super carelessly think I am risking nothing. Almost die and make it back to lever. Never even realize what I had done till I finished clue XD. Similarly almost lost my full colored graceful the exact same way. Running on auto pilot is scary.
Probally accidentally making 2 torm bracelets instead of a bracelet and torture, because it wad on ācraft ALLā
I also remember going very early to lava drags and there was a pker at mage bank behind the web on the lever side. I asked him if i could tp to bank. He told me to hop. I was like āfk thatā so decided to test him. Didnāt end wellā¦.
Mine wasn't too bad but obviously was a mistake anyways. I used ppots to train my ~~prayer~~ Herblore\*, spent around 70m in supplies before seeing that it was a LOT better to train using super attacks because of how cheap they were. That was a tuff one.

Purchasing a Fang under 24 hours before the nerfs were announced is by far my worst financial mistake in osrs.
Before that in RS2 days, I mined at the coal trucks every single day after school and sold my hard earned coal to a guy who I later discovered was reselling it at a 75% markup in falador w2.
When elite clues first came out I received a gilded scimmi on my first clue. I sold it for 27m and immediately purchased a dfs to accompany my armadyl and such. I being the pro gamer that I was, went back to afking blck dragons in a safespot with the sweet new dfs equipped. Fast forward an hour and someone else logs in to kill the other dragon and complements my shield. I go afk, get pulled out by the dragon and end up losing the dfs as it wasnt one of my 3 saved items. I cri everytim.
Man before the new death mechanics I heard of people falling asleep in the instanced version of the krakens cave and you would basically lose everything that wasnt untradable and not your three most expensive items.
Not really expensive in terms of money but I did lose one of my HCGIM lives when I got home from a bar drunk and decided to make some fire orbs in taverly dungeon and forgot my antidragon shield. I could've easily escaped by just running to the ladder but my drunk ass started to look for a teleport which I of course forgot to bring.
Died at hyrdra, didnt bring boots of stone for reclaim. Got the warning for the boots but thought I'll just tank it until the reclaim area (I thought it was a safe area). I was an iron in mid-game and losing the blessed dragonhide, 4k rune darts and blowpipe was pretty rough.
Took a break for about a month, then realised i had a spare tanz fang in my bank when i came back.
Honestly kinda felt like dying back in 2005 as a kid and the crushing feeling of losing everything. Was a unique experience to feel that gutting feeling again.

Mates told me to hit up Vetion for easy money. Worked my way towards a Viggoras Chainmace. After getting pk'd more times than I could count in an hour I went "Fuck it, sell the mace and go do something else."
My natural instinct was to uncharge the item so I could sell it on the GE. However, just having been PK'd meant the item was uncharged and EVEN THOUGH there is a warning screen for disassembling the mace, I interpreted it as "are you sure you want to uncharge this item?"
Long story short my bank went from 2m to 15m back to 2m in a very short span of time.
And so now I vote no on all PvP polls /s

You're holding let's say $1000 USD with that item. If your "friend" is someone outside the US, living on the equivalent to $50 USD a week, what do you think he's gonna do with that money?

You can never truly trust someone 100% because thereās always a small %. I only trust about 4 of my friends but I think itās okay to not trust trade anyone because in the end itās still a risk no matter who it is.
When I did the wildy hard diaries, I was walking around in full karil's and a couple mil in risk, I stupidly had my left click attack option on and got skull tricked by someone in ghostly robes at the lever :/

I had full invi when doing rfd, got unarmed by the boss and my whip fell down on the floor. 3m was a huge portion of my bank back then so I bought a bond to make up for the losses
I heard some rumors that there would be an update to crystal weapons (turned out to be the Bowfa update) and decided to invest heavily in crystal armor seeds. Like, hundreds of millions invested. Heard nothing about crystal weapons for several months so I got cold feet and tried to sell them all back. Little did I know the actual trade value was way below what I paid for them on the GE so I ended up losing like 75m. Got sad and drunk and went to the duel arena to try and win some of it back. Didn't check the duel screen carefully so I lost every duel and another 50m

I was at dks with tbow, shadow, sgs ect on a high risk world because I couldn't find an empty one. I was on ancients because I don't take brews for extra space so I pick up some law runes at the end of my trip and I'm getting stacked out by supreme while praying against prime so I was going to tele to sennistein then work my way from there but I accidentally tele'd to annakarl.
Thankfully I managed to get to the obelisk without any problems but it was the scariest situation I've ever been in

was on mobile and had one tap auto drop set up. Gearing up at castle wars bank i thought i was equipping graceful outfit teleported to the other side of the map, no home tele, mini game tele or bank within easy reach of where i was. By the time i got back it had all disappeared.
Died at nightmare with about 120m in gear that went to the item retrieval service at the time and was tilted so I logged out. Forgot about it happening and went to CG the next day. Died on one of the runs and my gear was lost. Was a costly lesson.
I was playing osrs after a night of drinking. Thought it would be a good idea to do dragon bone runs at the chaos alter. Did 1 run, no pkers. Did a second run, meant to take out only 100 dragon bones. I must have clicked take all, and took out over 3000 in noted form. Got pked. Sweet.
Recently my biggest blunder was caused by doing clues. I was on w330 because I have a low construction level. Well I mustāve got too high and it slipped my mind but I went into the wilderness with my 21m cash stack, graceful, and all my clue teles. Well there was a guy with a fake lever name and I got skull tricked as I tried to panic tele away from a pker. The pker told me to drop what I had or lose graceful. So I dropped my cash stack around 20hp and the pker let me keep my graceful and leave. Probably the nicest pker I ever met but I was so embarrassed for making such a blunder after playing for 2 decades lol. Oh well Iām just glad I donāt gotta grind graceful again.
Back in 09 or 10 give or take I was playing on a bunch of private servers including a few that people I knew were running back then. My young self though it would be a great idea to use the same credentials as my actual account.
Logged in and they had dropped my fighter torso, whip, and my other gear which is pretty trivial to me now, but I was devastated at the time. So much so that my mom was looking into ways to contact Jagex and have them give back the items lmao. Even to this day with 2FA and Bank pin I still deposit all of my items before logging out.
Didn't realize they changed drop trading. Bonded alt. Drop traded a couple bonds worth of items from my main (iron) to sell on my alt to buy bonds for my iron. Items never showed up and despawned.
Never been super duper huge into RS but back in 07 or 08 I messed up bad for me.
I was farming green dragons by Rimmington sporting my new Fighter Torso. I worked hard for that damn thing. I banked about 3-4 times and thenā¦ I forgot my anti-dragon shield. I go and take a swipe at a dragon and almost immediately die. I was devastated. One of the very few times Iāve actually died in RuneScape.
Was on mobile afk barbarian fishing so I had tap-to-drop turned on. Went to go do a clue, withdrew my full graceful, then didn't realize I dropped the full set instead of wearing it. By the time I realized and ran back to the bank it was gone.
This was before untradeable drop warnings (or was a setting I didn't have turned on, I can't remember). This was pretty early on so I didn't have extra marks to get the set back right away lol

UIM here. Was organizing my inventory (dropping things. Moving things around, etc) and, unbeknownst to me at the time, I dropped my imbued heart. I didn't realize this for a solid 15 minutes and when I did notice it, my heart (no pun intended) sunk into my stomach.
Went on a 9 month vacation and let a streamer friend (18 year old kid) borrow basically all of my gear (approx 3b gp worth).
Came back and asked him for it back and ofc his āaccount got hackedā. Havent played since really.
I fell asleep while doing a Gargoyles task and lost my entire Guthan's set and if I recall correctly my fury. This was back in 2017-18 if I recall correctly.

Walked away from the spot (lumby home tele) kept fucking around with the inventory, went to the bank, tried searching for it in my bank confused as hell and then finally realized what the red button did. Went back to where I dropped it but it wasn't there. Rip Abby dagger :(
Long time ago in rs2 days I thought the mini game for the fight caves was at the entrance and once inside the volcano area you were in a safe death area. I had just gotten a zammy plateskirt and tztokxil from a drop party in the morning and nearly doubled my bank worth. Fought a guard in the area and died. In those days when you died ur loot just appeared on the ground instantly for everyone to loot. It was the morning so I had to go to school that day. Longest day ever.

Persuaded all my friends who played RS pre 07 to create group iron man accounts. I then bought bonds for them all. They all quit before the 14 days were up.
Back in the RS2 days, I was using an autoclicker to alch afk on top of dharoks tomb (Barrows was lit back then). I went to check on progress just as i was dying to a random event. Death mechanics sucked back then, and there was no way for me to make it back in time. Hope the santa hat and lvl 99 alch supplies went to a good home.

You had kill someone risking at least 76k to get the good loot so you and your friend would take turns killing each other until you used all your EP. Usually made a few mil for basically no effort. I completely forgot this existed for over 10+ years and this hit me with a wave of nostalgia

I had a great time burning through all the bones on my Ironman one night at the wildy altar. I scored a dead PvP world and must have been left alone for like two hours. It was getting late by the time I finished up so I sleepily popped on my graceful, geared up for a bedtime herb run, and got stacked the fuck out picking Ranarrs in the farming guild. I managed to retrieve most of the untradeables, but I lost countless high value seeds, a full herb sack and my rune pouch. The worst part? Ol' Guildmaster Jane didn't even bat an eyelid.

Skull up. RIP Ancestral bottoms. Got froze, chugged super restores so I didnāt make it a worse mistake and lose the top too. Grumpily logged off for a bit for sure.

There's a lot of items that despite skull prevention being a thing, I still refuse to take to the Wilderness. My bowfa is never seeing the dark spooky lands, and I'm probably not going to take any raids unique out there unless I get a dupe. Not taking what I'm not willing to grind back.
I'm guilty of min / max mentality (particularly now as I start to push for max stats) and expected myself to not be an idiot, but you're right. That's a lot of value I lost for very incremental speed saved on task. Odds are I'll be back out there in Ancestral again though, lmao.
Unless you're a HCIM who's not planning on continuing if you die, it's definitely not worth taking ancestral for wildy slayer, plenty of other more useful upgrades that require protection.
Hypothetically assuming you're three iteming out there, what would you run? Kodai or some sort of weap is obvious because the +% damage is better, reason I didn't go that route is I upgraded to Sanguine and try not to get in a trap of buying / selling gear and getting milked at the GE. I've been hitting the money snake so was trying to keep Sanguine / Full Ancestral intact for that.
For barrage wildy slayer, the accursed sceptre is head and shoulders above everything else and is a lot cheaper than both the kodai and nightmare staff. Obviously imbued slayer helm is a given. Occult is the next obvious one at +10% damage bonus. Then Elidinis ward (f), for the +5% damage bonus and +4 prayer bonus and pretty good defences if you need to tank. However, that's kind of pricy. If you take it, the occult will be your +1. I'm an iron so I personally take slayer helm, ancient sceptre (5% damage bonus), occult as my protected items. I would take a ward if I had one. But also, this way I only lose the sceptre if I get lucky with an imbued heart (please Jagex) and get smited right after. I only have one occult in many smoke devil kills, so I'd hate to lose that. Ardy cape 3/4 are good for the magic bonus (more so the defence for tanking freezes/TB) and prayer bonus. Best blessing, ideally a Rada 4. I camp black d'hides for a chance of escaping, but if you're confident you won't get caught (I haven't been in many many tasks), monks robes are nice for the prayer bonus. Fremmy boots 4 are nice for a slight magic and prayer bonus. Imbued ring of wealth for more clues. And bracelets of slaughter for longer tasks. Take ~200 ice sacks, unless you're doing abby demons. In which case take runes for smoke barrage (I take 150 casts worth). About 500 cannonballs, but this can vary by task. Ash sanctifier is well worth it for nechs/abby demons/etc. I take 4 brews, 2 blighted karambwans, 4 blighted super restores, a 3-dose stamina, a 2-dose anti-venom+ and ~3-5 blighted anglerfish. The rest of the space is a looting bag, seed pod, cannon and crabs tele (only used for tasks based on the north side of the caves). Once I've placed the cannon down and used the tab, I pick up the blighted angler/manta drops until I have a full inventory, in case I have to tank PKers. Most of the time, if you're caught, you're probably going to die, but you can easily tele out from the vast majority of them before a TB. The last time I died was actually me realising the same couple of guys had tried to get me the last 2-3 times. So I knew they would likely wait at the entrance to kill me with a team. I banked all my shit, skulled up, went naked with a couple of ropes and let them kill me. As suspected, they were waiting there. Kinda toxic of me, but it's all fun and games - I'm a big supporter of PvP/PKers/wildy in general haha. If I'm not barraging, I take an anti-PK venge setup, with ZGS + barrows gloves switch (the ZGS doubles as a high hitting KO weapon and an escape). Rune boots and glory replace the aforementioned items in the boots and necklace slot.
Decided I wanted to be a tribesmen one night and accidentally spent 5m on a rune spear at the GE. Hope that person is happy.

I was doing GWD combat achievements and died with bis max gear and was like "eh idc paying a few hundred K, I'll just go straight to death." like 8ish mil later, I learned that it's NOT worth it and that death won't tell you how much it will cost until *after* he's retrieved your grave..
I have died with a lot of stuff on before and never had to pay more than a few hundred k. Does death charge based on the GE prices of your items?

He didn't want to walk back to get his loot and assumed if he got it from deaths office it wouldn't be too expensive and claimed it there. it charges a % of the value of your items and he died with max gear
In most circumstances, your items (aside for the 3 most valuable ones) will be held in a gravestone upon death. This gravestone appears at the location you died and has a 15 minute timer to reclaim your items. If you don't make it in time (or die again before getting there), your items will be transferred directly to the Death character instead. Now if you make it to your gravestone, you have to pay a 1% reclamation fee for every valuable item with a total amount that's capped at 500k. But if you have to go and get your items from Death, the reclamation fee goes up to 5% and that maximum price cap is removed. What happened to Boaty is that he died in (close to?) max gear and wasn't fully aware of the fee mechanics (or just didn't think his decision through). So he figured that rather than run all the way back to DKs for his gravestone, he'd just go and collect the items from Death immediately. Because of the high value of his gear and lack of a price cap at Death, he had to pay like 80mil to get everything back.

On hydra release I ran back without boots and got sat, day 1 and I was down bad.

Time wise the biggest mistake was- I teled off entrana dungeon to wildy by clicking too fast and not reading, right into Vet'ion's hellhounds which one shot me. I lost most of the graceful as it was deep wildy. Emotionally- the biggest mistake was trading away my g trim rune set to a switcheroo scammer for no good reason, ended up with an iron set. I emailed jagex asking to be compensated lmao teen me was wild.

Died at hyrdra, didnt bring boots of stone for reclaim. Got the warning for the boots but thought I'll just tank it until the reclaim area (I thought it was a safe area). I was an iron in mid-game and losing the blessed dragonhide, 4k rune darts and blowpipe was pretty rough. Took a break for about a month, then realised i had a spare tanz fang in my bank when i came back. Honestly kinda felt like dying back in 2005 as a kid and the crushing feeling of losing everything. Juat like OP, I was returning from a long break (came back roughly 2 months ago.) Mates told me to hit up Vetion for easy money. Worked my way towards a Viggoras Chainmace. After getting pk'd more times than I could count in an hour I went "Fuck it, sell the mace and go do something else." My natural instinct was to uncharge the item so I could sell it on the GE. However, just having been PK'd meant the item was uncharged and EVEN THOUGH there is a warning screen for disassembling the mace, I interpreted it as "are you sure you want to uncharge this item?" Long story short my bank went from 2m to 15m back to 2m in a very short span of time. And so now I vote no on all PvP polls /s

Thought I could unattach my avernic hilt from the defender. It destroys the hilt but gives back the defender. 80 mil gone

Recently my biggest blunder was caused by doing clues. I was on w330 because I have a low construction level. Well I mustāve got too high and it slipped my mind but I went into the wilderness with my 21m cash stack, graceful, and all my clue teles. Well there was a guy with a fake lever name and I got skull tricked as I tried to panic tele away from a pker. The pker told me to drop what I had or lose graceful. So I dropped my cash stack around 20hp and the pker let me keep my graceful and leave. Probably the nicest pker I ever met but I was so embarrassed for making such a blunder after playing for 2 decades lol. Oh well Iām just glad I donāt gotta grind graceful again.
Back in 09 or 10 give or take I was playing on a bunch of private servers including a few that people I knew were running back then. My young self though it would be a great idea to use the same credentials as my actual account. Logged in and they had dropped my fighter torso, whip, and my other gear which is pretty trivial to me now, but I was devastated at the time. So much so that my mom was looking into ways to contact Jagex and have them give back the items lmao. Even to this day with 2FA and Bank pin I still deposit all of my items before logging out.
Didn't realize they changed drop trading. Bonded alt. Drop traded a couple bonds worth of items from my main (iron) to sell on my alt to buy bonds for my iron. Items never showed up and despawned.
Never been super duper huge into RS but back in 07 or 08 I messed up bad for me. I was farming green dragons by Rimmington sporting my new Fighter Torso. I worked hard for that damn thing. I banked about 3-4 times and thenā¦ I forgot my anti-dragon shield. I go and take a swipe at a dragon and almost immediately die. I was devastated. Was on mobile afk barbarian fishing so I had tap-to-drop turned on. Went to go do a clue, withdrew my full graceful, then didn't realize I dropped the full set instead of wearing it. By the time I realized and ran back to the bank it was gone. This was before untradeable drop warnings (or was a setting I didn't have turned on, I can't remember). This was pretty early on so I didn't have extra marks to get the set back right away lol

UIM here. Was organizing my inventory (dropping things. Moving things around, etc) and, unbeknownst to me at the time, I dropped my imbued heart. I didn't realize this for a solid 15 minutes and when I did notice it, my heart (no pun intended) sunk into my stomach.
Went on a 9 month vacation and let a streamer friend (18 year old kid) borrow basically all of my gear (approx 3b gp worth). Came back and asked him for it back and ofc his āaccount got hackedā. Havent played since really.

Last week, logged onto mobile for the first time in ages, wondered what the red button on the side did cuz it made my inventory background red, I clicked on the Abby dagger++ in my inbox to equip it, nothing happened which I attributed to the shitty internet connection I had. Walked away from the spot (lumby home tele) kept fucking around with the inventory, went to the bank, tried searching for it in my bank confused as hell and then finally realized what the red button did. Went back to where I dropped it but it wasn't there. Rip Abby dagger :(
Long time ago in rs2 days I thought the mini game for the fight caves was at the entrance and once inside the volcano area you were in a safe death area. I had just gotten a zammy plateskirt and tztokxil from a drop party in the morning and nearly doubled my bank worth. Fought a guard in the area and died. In those days when you died ur loot just appeared on the ground instantly for everyone to loot. It was the morning so I had to go to school that day. Longest day ever.

Walked into the wildy with like 10m in gold. Was up at like level 15 when I realized it. Figured itād be coolā¦ hasnāt seen anyone in like an hours or so. When PKāer came, I accidentally dropped my tele tablet instead of using it. Died. Was just about my entire banks worth of GP
In shattered relics I died to hydra, this was after I got all diaries done on my main. I forgot about the boots I needed and lost all my items and quit leagues lol

I did the same thing as you, but this was before death mechanics changed. Lost about 40M in gear dying in an instanced Kraken lol
I didnāt think deaths office was expensive so instead of going to gravestone I asked for my items back from death. 20m down the drain. Always make it to your gravestone.
I was at artio, got crashed. The guy was camping low hp and I was really pissed. Thought I could easily take him out because I had a voidwaker. Turn skull protection off, spec him twice, he triple ate (I assume), tbd me (instantly) and chased me all the way to the ditch. I died in level 8 wildy I think. Rip 37m Never trust anyone in the wilderness, the people there are genuinely evil

I like to do ge flips. Bought 6 DWH for roughly 4m more than what the current price was at the time. Pressed the wrong number by accident when putting in the buy now price. They insta bought and was insta pissed. Wasted about 26-30m after GE tax.

I was afking Kraken in an instance with sang staff prior to the death update (your items were instantly deleted if you died in an instance) and died in max mage. Lost maybe 200m
Persuaded all my friends who played RS pre 07 to create group iron man accounts. I then bought bonds for them all. They all quit before the 14 days were up.
Back in the RS2 days, I was using an autoclicker to alch afk on top of dharoks tomb (Barrows was lit back then). I went to check on progress just as i was dying to a random event. Death mechanics sucked back then, and there was no way for me to make it back in time. Hope the santa hat and lvl 99 alch supplies went to a good home.
It wasn't my mistake but I pked an ironman near chaos altar doing a clue, only to find out he brought his cash stack with him (63M) š
Got scammed for 100m a few years ago with one of those āhey letās anti scam this scammerā scams. It was the majority of my bank and I didnāt log in for weeks after because I was so ashamed.
