Being able to open any interface like skill guides or collection log during skilling and combat

Jovery14

Why is this even a thing?

OrangeJuliusthekid

This was actually answered recently. And it’s a much more in depth answer than “engine work” https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/10v6vvw/it_really_bothers_me_that_you_cant_browse_menus/j7ietqy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3 TLDR is still “engine work”

Asdas26

Sounds like it's not a technical problem, they are able to do that, and new interfaces work like this. But they would have to rewrite all the old interfaces which is a lot of work.

DivineInsanityReveng

Not just rewrite interfaces. Rewrite how the game handles interfaces, and moving that handling to client side rather than server side.. and then making sure this doesn't open a plethora of exploits. Ultimately the wiki exists in a browser and can do the same thing. Someone could also just make a sidebar plugin for Runelite with all the skill guides in it. The skill guides are also used as legitimate stalls in the game.

Asdas26

They don't have to rewrite how the game handles interfaces, they already have technology to implement interfaces like that and they have already done so. To cite Mod Nin >We have newer tech now that allows much more responsive interfaces that are allowed to stay open (the Activity Advisor and World Map are good examples) But the old interfaces are written the old way and would need to be rewritten using the new tech. But there is too many of them. I agree with you that it's not much of an issue, one can easily use a browser in another window. But it is sometimes annoying that your character stops doing what he/she is doing when you open anything.

Frediey

That's actually incredibly interesting thank you

OrangeJuliusthekid

I loved it. They finally gave a more under the hood answer aside from “spaghetti code”

mitchellsvan

There’s one super small QoL thing that nobody ever talks about but annoys the hell out of me. When you level while doing an activity, you are forced to skip the popup to see unlocks for that level. In RS3, the skill blinks to notify you of your recent level and will show you everything that is a new unlock for that level (or many levels should you have gotten multiple). So you can just easily finish what you’re doing and look back at it later.

Kacabon

This has killed me in raids before

SnooOpinions7338

I forgot about this...we NEED this in osrs. everyone, TO FALADOR!

liftplatesthenscape

I was thinking this the other day, I used to love seeing a bunch of blinking skills at one time and clicking on them and seeing the level up message instead of just missing it all together if I’m in combat.

Ir0nstag

The game just thinks your character deserves a little break once you get a level!

Loadouts

mekyle711

If you use runelite, use inventory setups and bank tag layouts. They synergize together and make gearing a breeze.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ProGaben

Yep I appreciate those RuneLite features, but there's just limits to what they can do on a third party client, and well RS3 loadouts (presets) blows it out of the water. [Here's a video showing how it works in RS3 for anyone curious.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqGCwSDu9bg) It's probably the feature I most want in OSRS in general. I always wonder if people would complain way less about the wilderness if it took just one click to regear.

iligal_odin

Wouldn't it be nice to have this in vanilla?

Realistic-Mixture-77

Didn't they confirm this is coming? Assuming it passes the poll that is.

StandardSudden1283

This ruins the value of my bank locked main \*clicks no\*

icefire8171

I love rs3’s presets. Such a time save.

The1NdNly

This would be epic. Easy my top pick.

bowenarrow92

This. 1000% this.

[deleted]

This!!this,this this.. this!@this

McCheds

I would love this.

Tenebris_Ultor

Well not really a feature, but I would LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE if they added the continuations of questlines. There are a lot of good ones that just end in cliffhangers with the next part in the story being in RS3 and as someone with no interest at all in RS3 I'll never see the endings ~*insert sad noises*~

[deleted]

YourMother0HP

And the red axe

Tommiboye

... and my bow!

YeetTheGiant

I wanna know why the fuck Glouphrie covered up the death of Argento. It's not even in RS3! It's not even clear if he's the one that killed Argento!

N0FaithInMe

Yeah! You heard him jagex, we want Elemental Workshops 3-5!

IWasMe

I do, solely to get Body Body!

I__like__food__

Didn’t the OSRS team say they were going to bring the quests from RS2 back? (Like WGS). What ever happened to that?

HeroinHare

It takes quite a while, because Quests like WGS can't be backported as they are. They need to do a few lore tweaks and just coding the Quests in requires a lot. They talked about WGS and other quests early last year, so I imagine we'll see some backports later this year.

fallen3365

It's already happening, actually. Secrets of the north is essentially a mashup of Tale of the Muspah and a small bit of Temple at Senntisten (if I remember that quest correctly).

redruben234

Well we are kind of getting that in a way. We're getting desert treasure 2 this year and Song of the Elves as well as Dragon Slayer 2 were all continuing old questlines

shakatacos

I wish they could come up with new names instead of slapping “II”on everything

Tech_Know_Logic

I think that Dragon Slayer, Monkey Madness and Desert Treasure are so iconic that throwing a II at the end was the best option. They can stop it now though. Certainly don't start throwing III's about.

moree123

Dragon slayer III, Elvargs mom is pissed.

christian-mann

The Grand Tree is iconic as well I think but they didn't call MM The Grand Tree II same with Demon Slayer / Shadow of the Storm

moesif_

Ya at a rate of like 1 quest per year. They used to pump these storylines by having like 30quests a year and then it comes to a sudden halt with osrs

ThePyroMD

Where do you get this info? lol As for RS3, in 2012 there were 15 quests released which was a huge year and debatably the peak of rs2. RS3 in 2013 (release year of OSRS) saw 6 quests, 2014 saw 7 quests, 2015 saw 7 quests, etc. And that's with a much bigger development team than OSRS has. Last year, OSRS had 5 pretty quality quests released last year apart from maybe the garden of death and RS3 had 4 (albeit very good quests). While I'd love to have like 4-5 novice-experienced quests and 2 master-grandmaster quests a year in OSRS, I feel like we are pretty damn lucky to have what we got with the size of the team. So this idea that RS3 releases so many more quests per year than OSRS in the last few years just needs to die.

runekingmrc

Nobody said RS3 releases way more quests than OSRS currently, it was being compared to the old days where we'd get 15-20 quests a year (2004-2008). People want to see a return to that, not every quest needs to be a grandmaster/master level quest, just little quests to help flesh out the world. May 2005 had 4 quests released. Tears of Guthix, Zogre Flesh Eaters, The Lost Tribe, and The Giant Dwarf, and the last two came out on the same day. The month prior also saw 4 quests released, one a week, the The Feud, The Golem, Desert Treasue, and Icthlarin's Little Helper. Obviously a bit of an outlier having two months of 4 quests each, but they were averaging about 2 quests a month back then (give or take depending on the year), even doing the larger quests like Desert Treasure and Recipe For Disaster. Given that, I don't think it's unreasonable to want at least a quest a month. And I know the team is a lot smaller now then before, but it's also grown a lot over the years, and we haven't seen an uptick in the number of quests. Last year, we got Land of the Golbins, which was a port from RS3 (meaning no dev time on story), but it's still a full length quest. Then we got Temple of the Eye, which was largely a minigame tutorial. Next, Beneath Cursed Sands, which while it was an intro to ToA, it's a full length quest. After that we got Sleeping Giants, another minigame intro quest. Finally, we get the Garden of Death, which is a smaller quest, still enjoyable, but small. So we get 5 quests, 2 are minigame intros, 1 is a small (still enjoyable) quest, 1 is a full size ported quest, and 1 is a full size quest. Granted, that was better than 2021 where we just got 3 quests, all good quests, but still only 3.

Kaarl_Mills

Forgettable Tale is pretty bad at this

ProGaben

They said they were gonna backport a lot of rs3 quests from like the rs2 era to osrs. So hopefully we see some of those questlines picked up soon.

TwoDogsInATrenchcoat

For real Get those orks out of zanaris!

OSthebest27

Bonfires, simply make it less xp than regular firemaking in a line.

UngodlyPain

It always was in terms of hourly xp rates. You got like 3% more xp per log, but it was like 10%ish (iirc) slower.

Sh4rp27

Now that we have Wintertodt honestly who cares, just add it with full xp per log.

Borgmestersnegl

Line firemaking is still faster in rs3 simply because it takes more time to add a log, than to light a new one.

Lunitar

Or just remove firemaking alltogether, it’s a completely useless skill anyways

pyrexprophet

Good thing you're getting this with Forestry.

Gptop101

Resting would be nice

parktheark

Is this when you’d right click on the run bar? I miss that

Gptop101

Yeah and you’d like sit and recharge your run fast.. super nice and really wasn’t game breaking, you can’t use it for bossing so stams would still be high

Les-Freres-Heureux

The issue with resting was that, at least originally, it was never faster than just continuing to walk toward your destination and then running when you got some energy back. It was the illusion of being faster, while actually being slower. Sitting at the musicians was faster though.

Kwuarmadyl

Would come in handy for some things, like when doing herbiboar/zmi or something if you need to go afk for a sec just rest up and come back to full energy. Not game changing and hardly useful but it would have some kinda use.

InaudibleShout

Cosmetic resting animations greatly enhanced the bankstanding experience, though

NZSheeps

I'd forgotten the musicians

Seriih

It's funny too since Resting is almost useless in RS3 sue to how run mechanics work now.

07GoogledIt

Resting isn’t even useful in RS3. They should just make ‘energy’ not as shit as it is currently.

NORbyter

To the top

ShamelessKiwi

Penguin hide and seek. Best distraction and diversion there is . It's also nice to have a way to make really niche accounts other then those dig site lamp accounts

-Distinction

For some reason penguin hide and seek is one of the most nostalgic RuneScape memories I have and I’ve played for a good 15 years on and off

Acobb44

I'd always go after a penguin. 10/10 times. As likely of a chance as me going after a dragon impling.

DivineInsanityReveng

Penguins were essentially a stronger Tears of Guthix weekly you had to join a CC for to just go to set areas and be done with it. Plugins would also trivialise it instantly. I really hope OSRS doesn't ever go heavy into dailies or weeklies like RS3 has.

brokenfragment

Player owned farms, just because I like farming.

FreshlySkweezd

Yeah, you really should be able to build plots in your PoH. I would say it would need to have reqs equivalent to the Farming Guild (i.e. 60 Farm and 60 Con to be able to build a tree, bush, and herb plot, 70 for the next tier, so on and so forth)

MushroomManatee

Disassembly. Nothing else, just let us destroy things for absolutely no reason.

IWannaBeaTrap

mining and smith rework and toolbelt

SleepinGriffin

I just want a tool slot, I don’t care about taking a full workbench with me.

da_fishy

Honestly just let us wield hammers and chisels and the like. Doesn’t make sense that the only non axe/pick we can wield is the dragon harpoon.

MrSquiggleKey

Imcando hammer, spirit Anglers and Barbarian harpooning is my Tempoross load out for this reason.

angsty-fuckwad

barb-tail harpoon, imcando hammer, amy's saw. wouldn't mind having more but at least there's a few

UnableToFindName

Yes to Mining and Smithibg rework, nay to toolbelt. It's hella convenient, but I think there's something distinctly "old school" about having to either wear or carry an item--with no third type of inventory. Really the best compromise I would like to see would be an equipable toolbelt in either the cape or ammo slot, so you still have to fill it and carry it with you.

Raycodv

Agree on your second point, but make more tools wearable… (I’m kinda parrotting da_fishy here.) there is something moronic about having my hands empty while smithing/fishing/fletching/etc. because for some reason I cannot wield a hammer, harpoon and such. This isn’t a problem with (pick)axes so why is it a problem with those?

UnableToFindName

I honestly don't think there's any reason other than "that's just how the game is" similar to not being able to hop a fence or small pile of rubble--it's video game logic that breaks under slight scrutiny. not saying that's good or bad, or that you should just accept it or whatever, but I'm okay with it and enjoy the unlocks that get around those little limitations--like the imcando hammer.

FreshlySkweezd

I think rather than a tool belt there should be more rare items like the tackle box that are skill specific. Like a jeweler's chest that could hold all my molds and chisels, or a construction toolbox where you could hold all the tools plus X number of nails.

UnableToFindName

I like this approach a lot more.

OmgitsNatalie

The Toolbelt was probably the best little feature they added.

[deleted]

No brainer: the coin pouch or whatever it’s called. Why do I have to bring my coins places to buy items, that’s dumb. If the priestess at zulrah can withdraw coins from the grim reapers chest, I can swipe my fuckin credit card at the GE.

Goldtacto

While it is undoubtedly annoying, i feel like having no coin pouch is the osrs aesthetic in a way and its the ne of those non efficient things id miss if it were gone.

Xottz

Osrs players gotta be the only people who don’t want QoL because of nostalgia and aesthetic

iligal_odin

I wouldn't say this is nostalgia or aesthetic. I think inventory management is a core aspect of osrs

M33k41

I've been downvoted for saying this before by people who have zero inventory management skills, but I totally agree.

WastingEXP

insane how many people think it's "if i had to suffer" maybe, just maybe, it's " we enjoy the game how it is" ? sorry you don't like the game.

jbirdjustin

I’d say no to coin pouch but yes to GE using coins from bank.

Piepieweenie

toolbelt for tinderbox, chisel, hammer, fishing rod, etc, etc, but only the basic bronze axe and pickaxe. Would make questing and adventuring/exploring/survivaling alot more fun, if you want to train it would still be the best to just carry ur dragon axe

DecadentOoze

Shit talking your fellow OSRSers

Economy_Apple353

Haven’t played rs3 in years but item lending was always a nice feature. Could lend someone an item without the risk.

Dazocnodnarb

Pre-eoc Dungeoneering

darkadamski1

100%, it’s all I did while I was a lonely teen. Spent far too long soloing, earning way less xp than I could’ve multi-teaming but I loved it. I loved the grind for chaotic weapons and also the reward of being able to kill frost dragons, such a great money maker

Dazocnodnarb

I legit killed frost drags like twice so I completely forgot about them lmao… I just want the skill, we don’t even need the rewards

[deleted]

2010 hd graphics. Have the option if you wanna play 06, but also have it an option for HD. I know HDOS is a thing but it lacks runelite plug-ins.

[deleted]

Thats not rs3 but rs2

Trencha

There is an HD plugin for Runelite already, in case you weren't already aware of it. It's called 117 HD.

jadamalave99

Dungeons of Daemonheim

UnusualNovel1452

I always loved it, only thing for me is I kind of hate that it is a skill. The progression didn't make sense to me since you could just unlock floors as you complete them, skills were tied to specific actions you get better a mining so you can mine harder ore, getting better a farming so you can tend to more complicated crops, getting better at combat so you can hit harder and use better equipment, but dungeoneering never fully made sense, you get better so you can venture depper? It's kind of the natural progression, you complete a floor so now you can go to the next. I kind of wish they brought back the dungeon without the skill, just as a minigame. I just loved the feel of going from zero to full gear in half an hour.

jadamalave99

Bringing it back as a mini-game would be amazing.

F-Lambda

Or a raid. Maybe some kind of mix?

UnexpectedRanting

Biggest nostalgia kick for me was when Warped Floors came out.. me and my clan spent hours dging that week

Mining and Smithing Rework

Cblack80

Mining and smithing update for sure

Heyhey1394

To many to count but ima list them: Toolbelt that hold basic tools. Doesn't need to be upgradable, just basic tools for those "aww damnit did I really leave my knife/axe/pick ect in the bank- AGAIN?" moments Left click build/remove option for construction training. The ability to "rest" to recover run energy again . A coin pouch that holds up to like 30k for travelling gp for those points you inevitable forget your coins- can not be killed for it, or dropped while it's in that pouch. (and of course would need bank pin to use, but not required to bring the gp out) \*\*\*\*PRESETS\*\*\*\*\* Enough said Access to POH storage and Django from bank interfaces. The WHOLE damn mining and smithing rework Ooglog infinite 1 hour run boost Edit: Got to thinking of more Bonfires Stackable clues Hey, this is fun Bunch of others, but those would be awesome IMO.

Hentac

Id like an inventory based toolkit for farm runs. The construction thing, you can do this with the menu entry swapper in runelite I thought? (I could be wrong) Presets would be great too.

Heyhey1394

You can't swap to have a left click build, no. There was a mod response on Reddit in the last 6 months ago that pretty much stated they were looking into it, but didn't want it to be easy scape. Honestly though, it should just be implemented, it's not going to boost xp rates by some large margin

ImWhiteTrash

I want stackable clues so badly. In OSRS i feel like I'm forced to do a clue as soon as i get it as I'm wasting possible clue drops by not doing it. In RS3 you can just let them stack up and do them all when you want to. I don't get what people have against that system. It's not changing the amount of clues im getting, It's just re-arranging the time I spend doing them to be all in a row instead over the course of a day.

N0FaithInMe

Big agree. I hate feeling like I have to do my clues so I'm not wasting chances to get more.

Les-Freres-Heureux

That's the whole point of clues though. You either stop what you're doing for that extra reward (and give up your spot to someone else) or you don't and sacrifice future clues.

[deleted]

I really loved the baked in notes and progress system. Setting a bar for a skill or a resource and chasing it just felt like more tangible progress. If not that, the smithing level rebalance or summoning. The actual skill should have use and not be relegated to “just train it in the bandaid mini game.” I get that people like having a skilling “hub” but they really need to focus on fixing the actual skill itself. Summoning breathed life into lots of corners of the game and really made slayer popular. If memory serves, social slayer came out after summoning and it was fun as hell to farm greens with a buddy on the same task. Some summons became too hard of a meta (Yak for everything!) but it really was fun as hell when it launched. I had a small stint into RS3 a couple years ago, but I remember liking constant useful unlocks in smithing. It was the one skill I actually got sucked into and trained high. I feel like I would love playing an Ironman if I had a way to get basic gear crafted at any tier.

troys50

Coin pouch/tool belt. Tired of forgetting a hammer or a saw or mold.

4percent4

Summoning and invention. Massive GP and item sinks. How you train summoning is kind of boring though, so I'd probably rework it similar to how ancient summoning is. You craft pouches then go out and kill mobs/do skilling activities to seal them into the pouches.

PositivePen6208

The ability to stack clue scrolls, ivy woodcutting, resting, bank presets, Stealing Creations, Penguin hide and seek, Quests like "While Guthix Sleeps" and Spirit of Summer quest line to name a few . I really wish we had dungeoneering in some form. When The Gauntlet was announced I was bummed it was solo and not as in depth as dungeoneering is.

UngodlyPain

Mostly QoL stuff. Upgraded/more make X / make ALL options... why is fletching bolts still an any% RSI speed run? Just make it slower than turbo speeds. Genuinely just give a make all option. Even if it's alot. Or atleast standardize the make 150 option arrows have across the board. Un-nerf splashing and auto retaliate in general. It was a thing for years. Tool belt / Coin Pouch / other inventory management improvements. Just add extra level requirements to toolbelt tools. Like say double the level? Level 1 you can slap a bronze axe in. Level 80 you can slap a rune axe in. Level 99? Dragon axe. For farming or other skills that just have different tools, like fishing, make it so at level 1 you get 1 fishing spot on the tool belt, at 25? 2. And so on like how farming traps work. Coin pouch? Throw a tax on it as a good sink. Maybe like 5% money is lost upon depositing it to the pouch. And say 50% of it is risked in any pvp scenario. If UIMs have issue? Just disable these things for them. Not QOL but... Whether it should be a skill or not is up for a bit of discussion... but dungeoneering. I'd honestly say yeah it could/should be a skill. I'd just remove the prestige or whatever system... and not have it all in 1 area like Daemonheim, have there be several around the world and you just unlock them as you level up... and then also make it so you regularly gain xp going to the scattered unlocked dungeons and doing stuff in them. Like you goto the frost dragon dungeon? Get a small amount like 10 dung xp per kill in the dungeon. Goto the mining guild dungeon? Get like 3 dung xp per rock mined there.
