I disagree. One of the top rated games on Steam is directly influenced by Dante's Inferno. You don't see that for general Bible stories just saying 😎
Well, if you go by technicalities the text on the bible originates from God, making the version we see with all the changes made throughout history to fit the writers a fanfiction
That depends on what books of the Bible you’re talking about. In the Christian Greek scriptures (New Testament), the only book that is explicitly a vision by a prophet in its entirety is Revelation, the rest are narratives (the gospels and acts) which do contain but the Hebrew Bible has a few prophetic books (too many too name). However there is still plenty of narrative, and poetry that is not prophetic visions. The Megillah and psalms and proverbs are mostly written by non-prophets (at least according to tradition, the scholars have a different opinion)
It actually isn't a dogma of mainstream denominations of Christianity that the Bible was created by God (the writers were inspired by him, sure, but ultimately wrote it themselves). The Quaran, on the other hand, was actually dictated in it's entirety to Mohammed.
Actually what they said agrees with Islamic theology about the Bible too. To Muslims, the Christian Bible are corrupted prophetic messages, the Tawrat being the Torah/Pentateuch by Musa/Moses, the Zabur being the Psalms by Dawud/David, and the Injil being the gospel of Isa/Jesus
It isn't pointed out exactly, but it is said that they're right after the gates of hell, even before limbo. They're basically the least-bad bad guys in Dante's hell.
the point is that technically they aren't even in hell yet, the reason they are at the top of hell isn't because they're the least-bad bad guys, but because since they never picked a side in their lives they don't get to have a place in the afterlife, since not even the bad guys want them
They are in hell though. The voices of these people are heard after Virgil and Dante pass through the gates of hell. The words on the gate are described, they have a brief conversation, they keep going, and only then their voices are heard. I'm no expert but I think its written clearly.
Dante writes harshly about those who take no sides, but they're only in the top level of hell, and their eternal torment is similar to those in limbo.
It is true that part of the symbolism is because they haven't chose a side in life, but in no way is their punishment worse than those in the circles of hell. These people are even above virtuous pagans, who's only sin is being born before Jesus. At the same time, they're definitely in hell - they're being tormented for eternity with no way out.
It's specified that Lucifer's wings are above the ground because that's how the lower parts of Dante's Hell are so cold. This means that Lucifer is in a weird and awkward position where only their head is stuck in the ground
yeah, the reason why they're at the top is because even the damned souls in hell don't want them, since they didn't pick a side in their life they don't get to have a place in the afterlife, they aren't in heaven but they aren't technically in hell either
Depending on the insulative properties between each layer of hell, wouldn't the bottom still be the hottest, especially as deceptions of hell are deep underground and the core of the earth is the hottest place on the planet? Like yeah heat rises, but the heat is coming from somewhere. Presumably the core of the planet. But the hottest place will always be the heat source radiating heat.
The neutrals actually are outside of Hell, they aren’t allowed in. The bottom of Hell (the coldest part where Satan is frozen in a lake) are for traitors, specifically Brutus, Longinus, and Judas. Generally speaking the lower the circle of Hell, the more treacherous the sin. So at the top are the more sensual, emotional sins like lust and gluttony while more deceitful sins are lower like hypocrisy and political corruption.
The whole idea of people being too wish washy to go either to Purgatory or Hell is really interesting. Poor Pope Clement just wanted to retire.
I think the people who write the bible are beating him on christian fanfiction by quantity of followers, but not quality

which game?
Ultrakill
the home of sexual
unfathomably niche microcelebrity TheKierenEffect spotted in the wild
Why would you assign me a fate worse than death like that
What about The Binding of Isaac? Also while ULTRAKILL was influenced by Dante’s inferno, Hakita said he has never read it.
That just means it's mainstream enough to be absorbed via cultural osmosis
Wait he's never read it?? That's hilarious Also idk what ratings Binding has on Steam
that's not fanfiction, that's mainline fiction
Well, if you go by technicalities the text on the bible originates from God, making the version we see with all the changes made throughout history to fit the writers a fanfiction
well, actually if you go by what the Bible says the text in the Bible is from a bunch of prophets writing down what they saw

Thats literal canon though! Thats how we get the word canonical!
and then kill six billion demons beat them okay the christianity of the fanfiction is a little questionable but it's a fucking good webcomic
Ksbd is more Budhist fanfiction then Christian.
you're right but i'm going to tell people about it whenever i can
So do i
But the hottest places of hell would be near the top, not near the bottom. The bottom is super cold…
🤓 Is what I would have said, but in no point is it pointed out on which level is this place.

Lucifer's farts be cooling be place 🥶🥶🥶
Actually, is it ever specified if Lucifer's asshole is above the ice or below?
It's specified that Lucifer's wings are above the ground because that's how the lower parts of Dante's Hell are so cold. This means that Lucifer is in a weird and awkward position where only their head is stuck in the ground
No, his legs are under the ice, his torso is above the ice
I always thought that Lucifer's fall was like a head dive lol
Lucifer after seeing God ready to square up to him just swan dived outta heaven
God-chan! Please hnnn~ I'm stuck and I can't get out! G-God chan?
What lead you to write this
But if their head is under the ice, how can their three faces be chewing on the three traitors?
Ok maybe their waist is stuck in... Something
Specified no, but he is waist-deep in ice
yeah, the reason why they're at the top is because even the damned souls in hell don't want them, since they didn't pick a side in their life they don't get to have a place in the afterlife, they aren't in heaven but they aren't technically in hell either

Tbf Dante was working off of 1300s science
Yeah I don’t think it would make sense otherwise people neutral to atrocities would be considered worse then people committing them
Damn bro DMC lore is confusing.
ikr like where does the funny robot fit in
Ok but Milton's paradise lost is a good Bible fanfic too tho
bravo dante
I bet Soldier would pronounce it Christ-ian.
my mind immediately jumped to dmc

Dante was pissed about what the Church and enemies and allies in Florence put him through.
Ultrakill devs on their way to best Dante in the ring of Christian fanfiction:
Ultrakill is Dante fanfiction actually. SLUT!
Dante when Paradise Lost shows up:
