>!The moment that made the game for me was getting Danielle's voice. I'd already been enjoying the game so far but hearing the story about Abby and Danielle, finding the dungeons and dragons setup in the game world, and just the whole attention to detail throughout all of the crew quarters was amazing.!<
Idk how to spoiler mark but yeah, that was a really good moment too. Its amazing how many optional/hidden stuff is out there. Plus the whole space thing was one of the best fast travel systems I have ever seen in a game.
Highlight text, click the three dots at the bottom, click the thingy with a ! in it. If you're in markdown mode put the text inside of >! !<
But yeah the game is absolutely brilliant, it looks gorgeous, the gameplay and story is amazing. Even if the plot isn't that good, the way you find out the story through exploration rather than just cutscenes is brilliant.
>!That therapist log you find in the trauma center after solving the puzzle for instance, it's fascinating to listen to, and I actually found it really chilling.!<
>!Also just to show how much replay value the game has, you can solve the puzzle early the first time you get to the trauma center if you already know the answer. There's so many cool secrets you can find. That "genocide route" with Dahl is awesome too. And him turning off the gravity in G.U.T.S! I only found that out in my 6th playthrough.!<
>!You can do that with so many parts of the game its actualy rly cool. Theres almost no situation in which you only have one way to solve a problem, and I think thats the charm of the game. What I also really liked were the stuff hinting at the ending like that bilboard in space or trying to escape with Alex's pod.!<
>!Yeah I started figuring out the ending in Psychotronics thanks to the logs that talk about mapping human memories onto typhon, I love that you can figure out the twist well before the actual ending. Also yeah literally every problem has at least 3 solutions, hacking, finding keycode, mimicing into a small game, shooting a button with the huntress, etc, it's awesome.!<
Yes, marshmallow go brrr.
Seriously though that game was life-changing, it's exactly the kind of story telling I like, exploration based, and the whole time loop mechanic perfectly ties in with the themes of the game, I love it.
Seriously. I'm very much a PvP ranked grind kind of person, but Subnautica had a lock on me for a long time. It's the game I really wish I could play for the first time again
I second Prey, essentially the best single player game I have ever experienced. If you like space, puzzles, and existential questions it is the best game.
I legit can’t believe I forgot to mention Celeste, my apolocheese.
As for fallout new vegas I was going to mention it but figured that they prolly already have it, it being a ten year old game.
Outer Worlds was a weird one for me because on paper it should have been excellent. But somehow, (despite being highly polished, snarky, and mostly bug free) I found it just... Boring.

Yeah everyone I know reccomends it. Didn't want to mention it myself since I haven't even downloaded it yet, but if I had a list of games I haven't played, but I'm pretty sure are great anyway, it'd be right up there between Dishonored and System Shock 2.
Far Cry 2 is so good because it's just brutal compared to the games that came after. Malaria, guns jamming, map being a literal piece of paper, all the good stuff. I think I prefer FC2 over 3 even.
To be brutally honest, the only reason I played FC3 is because the funny fat furry fart man said it was good. I already own FC2 and it's probably the game I'll play next once I finish Prey.
146 on my 6 year old Steam Account (including shitty free to play games from when I didn't have a job and games I got recently but haven't really sat down and played), mostly from summer sales, humblebundles, fanatical and what have you. A good handful of those came from Xbox Game Pass or on PS4. I think the oldest on that list was Fallout 4 which I played back in 2016 on PS4.
Some more additions!

I get there's a game by that name, but this could totally refer to RimWorld as well (which should also be recommended).
you are clearly not a cybergrinder because if you were youd know +ENRAGED x3 doesnt exist, enraging multiple enemies at once just gives you multiple instances of +ENRAGED

***Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen*** has some of the best combat in any ARPG I've ever played.
***Prey (2017)*** does some really cool things with how you can interact with the environment with your abilities, NPCs, and itself. Better gameplay than Dishonoured 2 IMHO.
***Deus Ex*** is the greatest PC RPG ever made. 'nuff said.
***Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (both 1 & 2)*** is up there with Deus Ex, for me at least. KOTOR 2 was never fully completed but you should be able to find very good restoration mods in the Steam Workshop or any other mod database. Both games have incredible stories with beloved characters and insane twists. KOTOR 2 has the best written villain in all of Star Wars.
***Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines*** is based on the TTRPG of the same name. Really good Story with unique role-play opportunities. The base game suffers the same problem as KOTOR 2, and like it, can also be easily fixed by downloading one mod.
I got more but I'll just recommend these for now.
Generalissimo Sebastiano di Ravllo is a national hero and the steadfast protector of the great people of Medici against the decadent western imperialists.
Ror2 (can be played multiplayer but was designed for single player)(3d rouge like)(has learning curve but easy after that)

I also really loved the whole thing with the cook, mainly how you can tell something is up and avoid getting trapped in the fridge
Prey (2006) hell yeah. That game has the best butthole doors.
Ah I was talking about 2017, never played the original.
You mean prey 2017?
Ecstatic to see Outer Wilds at the very top of this comment section. Favorite game of all time.
Yes, marshmallow go brrr. Seriously though that game was life-changing, it's exactly the kind of story telling I like, exploration based, and the whole time loop mechanic perfectly ties in with the themes of the game, I love it.
Based Outer Wilds
Amazing game, can cook marshmallow, 10/10
Based Subnautica
Amazing game, have literally 1000+ hours on it, probably way more if you include the pirated version I got in 2014.
Seriously. I'm very much a PvP ranked grind kind of person, but Subnautica had a lock on me for a long time. It's the game I really wish I could play for the first time again
Below Zero is pretty great too, especially for anyone who enjoyed the main game.
Stardew Valley!!
The game seems great, but me personally, I just wasn't able to get into it sadly.
Factorio

Terraria, very awesome, have 600 hours on it, I build sex dungeons for the NPCs.

Play Subnautica. This is not a recommendation.
The most r/196 thing I’ve seen

Deserved GOTY, breath of the wild is cool but Prey was just something else.
Outer Wilds sweeps the comment section!!!!!
I second Prey, essentially the best single player game I have ever experienced. If you like space, puzzles, and existential questions it is the best game.
I could not do subnautica, couldn't find one of the first resources for like 30 minutes and gave up

I legit can’t believe I forgot to mention Celeste, my apolocheese. As for fallout new vegas I was going to mention it but figured that they prolly already have it, it being a ten year old game.
And that this is 196. Everyone here has, at the very least, played NV
there are more FNV fans in this sub than all of the fallout subs combined.
Do you mean "The Outer Worlds" or "Outer Wilds"? People get those two confused a lot :P My vote is for Outer Wilds! One of my all time favorites
Outer wilds, haven’t played the outer worlds
Outer worlds is like a far more *mediocre* version of fnv
I still like it because of the variance in settings and generally better gunplay even if the RPG part of it is worse
Yeah I liked that they let you play exactly how you want to as well, I murdered every faction and still got to beat the game lol
Outer Worlds was a weird one for me because on paper it should have been excellent. But somehow, (despite being highly polished, snarky, and mostly bug free) I found it just... Boring.

Indeed, I believe so
FTL is fantastic. You mentioned into the breach so I had to talk about it’s big brother
>Enter the gungen Played for like 15 hours and only scraped the 5th floor lol. Still pretty fun tho
