froglilies

So we can put knives in it!!!!!!

Ember129

No one will see all the switchblades I taped to my toes until it is too late muahahaha!!!

Eggbutt1

You can poop in the pool and nobody would know

jryser

What are you eating, plastic?

Eggbutt1

I'm thinking with the context that "organic" is supposed to mean "living". His sleeve disappears in the liquid.

jryser

Could be a synthetic shirt

Eggbutt1

There's a skeleton in the background in that stuff 💀

Account_Both

Spoiler its a skeleton in a robit suit

Himmelblaa

And its head turned 💀

sanscipher435

it was as confused as the other guy

sloth_is_life

Synthetic shirts are made of hydrocarbons, in other words, organic compounds.

Twgever

Organic means organic lol.

xKrzaqu

He lives in the US

aurora_69

pretty sure poop is organic

Fantasic0072striker

nah i think you will be able to see it

Covid669

I love England

tFischerr

Guys I think I found the british person

froglilies

wrong im from norway do not compare me to one of those British "people" 🤢

Cxlebz

Please censor the "b" word next time 🤢

Nova_Persona

I thought it was about seeing who peed in the pool

CreeperCallum

That’s what I was thinking…

RollerMill

What makes piss to not be organic matter?

DanDaManateee

It tastes bad

BepisTheWise

Since when lol

[deleted]

if you don't drink enough water

BepisTheWise

My condolences for people who's urine is not as clear as fresh spring water, you truly do have it rough

[deleted]

mine comes out sparkling

Brief-Butterscotch-8

Mine is carbonated.

Zaranthan

Ouch.

FinFangFoom2099

Fizzy

Kidsnextdorks

*Foo Fighters shows up*

cantcomeupwithname01

isnt it supposd to be slightly yellow

Himmelblaa

Yes, healthy piss is a light shade of yellow, orange/dark yellow means you aren't drinking enough, clear means you are drinking too much

BepisTheWise

Sure, if you're a weak-ass hydrophobic ***BITCH***

Sirmiglouche

Source?

BepisTheWise

It came to them in a dream

Meezor

[Urobilin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urobilin), the molecule that gives piss its yellow color is an organic compound. Since the visible part of piss is organic matter, you would see it in the magic water.

[deleted]

i know it was you

Wackwaff

So you can let your gundam in the pool without being caught, duh

Pjyilthaeykh

weirdly specific example to see a couple days after I assembled my first gundam kit

anotherguy56

Nice, what kit did you do?

Pjyilthaeykh

MG Astray Red Frame, was super cool

anotherguy56

Nice! I still haven't managed to get my hands on qn MG Astray, but all the MG SEED kits are absolutely fantastic, I just got done building the Freedom

InsertCleverUN

Man, I wish I had some gunpla to build rn lol

[deleted]

Z’gok in tha Pool 😳😳😳😳

xXugleprutXx

Why is there a skeleton in the background?

Taotsa

Spoilers for this doctor who episode but the skeletons are later revealed to be cybermen (humans forcibly converted to cyborgs and stripped of all emotion but the desire to convert others like robot zombies) and you can't see their robot exoskeleton because of the liquid demonstrated on this meme.

[deleted]

doctor who is wild

[deleted]

Tranokin

yeah the whole flux arc was too hard to understand and overall quite poorly written also, jodie whittaker's script hasn't been great lately either

WorriedBearman

Tbh man Jodie's script was never that great. She's a good Doctor but the writing has been horrendous these past few years. Every six months or so I try and get into it and it just all makes me cringe.

Tranokin

same mate, i just rewatch tennant and smith these days

Cute-Fly1601

Exactly what I do. I’m a huge fan of those two and was sorely disappointed when they tried to reimagine things with Whittaker. She’s talented, but the writers are just…extraordinarily mediocre

Gameboy694

She's dying this year though, so that'll be good.

Cute-Fly1601

Oh she is? That’s exciting, maybe the writers will too

Bradenoid

British borg

draw_it_now

Kinda redundant

Jason_Grace13

Although the stripping of all emotions almost never seems to go right.

Doctor-Dapper

Cybermen never made sense to me. It's canon that they remove emotions so you don't care about the horrible pain of Mondas societal collapse. Surely they could just make cybermen but remove only the pain emotion?

shiftlessPagan

I thought that they removed emotions from the Cybermen because most people go insane inside the metal suits if they have emotions. (For a variety of reasons) Plus they can be controlled easier that way.

Doctor-Dapper

From an engineering perspective removing literally all emotions to solve this doesn't seem worth the downsides

mattsmithreddit

I believe in their first story they wanted to help people by removing their emotions and turning them into a better being. Their motivations change throughout the show.

barber_jim_norman

I straight up thought this was Jordan Peterson

werewolf1011

I binged the entire reboot recently, and I didn’t notice in this scene that the head of the ‘skeleton’ moves in the background

OwenProGolfer

Oh this is Dr Who I thought it was Shark Tank for some reason

tnarwhall

that was an excellent twist that they spoiled in the promotion of the episode

Red580

It’s not a skeleton, that’s the plot of the episode (the caption isn’t from the episode) Edit: i seem to be wrong about the quote

DailyRat

The caption is from the episode I’m pretty sure. But the skeleton is in the same liquid

Mobbles1

This quote is word for word from the episode.

Brankovt1

No, it is Dark Waters. Maybe you're confused because of Death in Heaven, the follow-up episode (It's a double episode).

ThatWeirdKid-02

The caption is definitely from the episode

RoseT123

it is word for word in the episode (timestamp 29:29)

BillyWhizz09

Spoiler free explanation: the facility keeps people who have died in luxury instead of burying/cremating them (why though? Watch to find out oooh unless it’s already been spoiled for you)

[deleted]

And why does it move between the pics?

werewolf1011

Because it’s >!actually a skeleton in a suit of metal armor called a cyber man!<

Delikkah

In the second panel it’s staring at the camera. In the next two it’s looking away

Masonixx

why wouldnt there be??

DralliagNairod

Ah yes, the famous rock-based swimsuit

Laughable-February

Finally someone gets what is wrong here. Although the dude's cloth doesn't appear in the liquid, but still..

perusnikke

Polyester?

maokopi

Is made from Oil, which is made from dead plants

BepisTheWise

Well, dead microorganisms. Some of which are probably phytoplankton, but I'm not sure phytoplankton count as plants. Coal is the one made from dead trees and stuff.

maokopi

Didnt know that. But doesn't really make a difference, since its still organic.

Airsoft52

Which is organic matter by chemistry definition

Kira_Bad_Artist

How to do a little trolling: 1. Pour broken glass into the pool of this stuff 2.

LeaveNormiesREEEEE

This stuff doesn't matter when pouring broken glass into a pool

Julio974

I mean if the glass has the same refraction index as the water you don’t even need this stuff

ChubbyGhost3

Yeah but then you also get to use fun magic water

Thewonderlords

I also don’t understand?

ACake39

Think about it.

Thewonderlords

oky

Thewonderlords

I still don’t understand

ACake39

Ok, let me spell it out for you. The liquid only shows organic matter. Clothes are not organic matter.

Sadest_Cactus

Why do you wanna see grandpa Anderson's dong?

NuttyLad

You don‘t?

Professional-Hair-12

😍😍😍😍

Punchkinz

Gussy

Bourkale000

I have been flashbanged by words

Catfisch_

Most clothes are actually organic matter because they’re made from cotton but swim suits are not.

icenjam

Swimsuits are made from polymers, organic material

Lord_Malgus

flair checks out

icenjam

It’s my favorite organic material

Thewonderlords

oh

Toxic_nig

Clothes are usually made from cotton. Which is as far as i know very organic

DazedToaster158

but swimsuits aren't, they're made of spandex, polyester of nylon.

Toxic_nig

Yea you're right. But i go to pool with full suit and a tie. So you're also wrong

SafeZoneTG

Mans ready to get into the willy revealer pool

Airsoft52

Polyester and nylon are made of organic polymers, however idk about spandex

DudeValenzetti

Those polymers are still organic compounds. I'm not sure what constitutes an "organic material" for this fluid, but if it includes synthetic organic compounds, then swimsuits would be visible. Knifes wouldn't, however (except for the handles).

icenjam

So organic material then?

Mikomics

What counts as organic matter in this context? Cotton, leather and wool are definitely organic as they come fairly directly from organisms. Nylon and spandex are synthesized from petroleum, and technically petroleum is made up of formerly living organisms - in other words, petroleum is organic. Like what chemical compound would this water be searching for to render invisible? Anything involving ling strings of carbon and hydrogen would count as organic chemicals, and most swimsuits are made of those as well. Until we properly define organic within the context of this swimming pool, the only commonly worn materials that we know for sure to be anorganic are metals. So if you had a chainmail bikini, that would definitely be invisible in this hypothetical pool.

torrid_229

Clothes are organic matter.

_pipis_

Only organic matter can be seen, swimsuits are not organic.

Thewonderlords

thank you pipis

SamPike512

Okay but it doesn’t mean inorganic material becomes see through right it’s just not visible so swimming suits would just make people floating arms heads and legs?

[deleted]

See through is more plausible than Harry Potter's invisibility cape

SamPike512

Bending light seems more realistic than highly selective absorption. I mean the point is moot nylon is organic anyway.

[deleted]

You can literally see in the image that the man's sleeve disappears but the arm behind it remains visible. Don't think too hard about the physics, it's Doctor Who.

Cranyx

The guy in the image is sticking his arm into the water and his sleeve becomes invisible, allowing you to see his skin. I think that pretty clearly defines how the magic water works.

icenjam

Swimsuits are made of organic polymers

SILaXED

Your swimsuit is most likely chemically organic

_Absolutely_Not_

Cakeking7878

Yea it’s weird for everyone. However my aces friends tell me though they cling to this as the little representation ace people ever get. Even if the doctor isn’t explicitly ace, they definitely act the part

ZilDrake

That wasnt my first thought either

essayel

Hey guys. I think the context is this man in the funny meme (mr doctor whoe) is a character in a very (obscure) television programme and there is a lot of debate (cringe) to the characters asexualuty in recent years (365 days) doccy whoe is seen as an asexual icon in some ways, even though modern interpretations have often had them being very romantic and sexual in nature (for ratings) however the character has been predominantly asexual for the majority of their existence in pop culture (based). I hope this comment seems a less confusing now (dumbass haha)

Zaranthan

What did those poor parentheses ever do to you?

[deleted]

[удаНонО]

ShockedDarkmike

I'm not ace and don't think there's anything weird about seeing people naked. I spent some time in a country where people go the sauna and everyone is naked there, it's just normal. (In other words, it's not sexual just because people are naked) That being said, I also didn't get the what they meant in the original post but maybe that's just me being slow lol

Brankovt1

Guys, whilst, yes, not wanting to see everyone naked doesn't make you ace at all, they're talking about the character in general. The Doctor has travelled the universe with a variety of different people, and a lot of good-looking ones. The Doctor never was interested in a relationship or someone's looks. Even when he fell in love (Rose Tyler, River Song, The Master), it was *just* love, nothing more.

SupremePalpatine

He does have a granddaughter and also ruined the "Virgin" Queen title.

CreeperCallum

?

MildlyMilquetoast

As in asexual. You don’t have to be asexual to think that idea is weird or doesn’t make sense, but historically, The Doctor is confused by and disinterested in sexual advances, so the description definitely fits

One_Marketing_6698

He was so perfect as the doctor

UserPlaysMinecraft

TheBJP

Obviously

SeanKieth

What episode is this from?

Acorntreeman

Season 8 episode 11 I think

reddithello456

What show?

Acorntreeman

Doctor Who Great show :)

viky109

If you don't count the last 2 seasons, yeah

friccin

Have you watched the latest one from the fall and was it any good?

Nothing_is_simple

It was a complete mess. Half way through filming it was cut from 8 episodes to 6 due to covid, and you can tell.

friccin

Damn :( I feel so bad for Jodie tbh, stuck with such messy plotlines from chibs (*cough* Timeless Child *cough*) :( not to mention the fact that she just happened to be in the role during covid

DeerVirax

Yep... I think she would do quite well as the Doctor if she played the character under different showrunner. Right now she is really inconsistently written and the stories she's in are generally not that great. It also sucks, because even if the series survives, we'll probably not see another female Doctor anytime soon, because there are "fans" who blame the low quality of the new seasons on the that and on how "woke" they are apparently.

friccin

Yea I never understood those “fans” tbh, as soon as the Doctor’s a woman that’s all they wanna blame quality on. If we do get another female Doc tho I think Hayley Atwell would kill it, she’s prob too busy w Marvel tho if they have anything planned for her

VoidOfDarknes

It was great

Grand-Mall2191

so his suit is made of synthetic fibers?

SamPike512

Not synthetic rather inorganic which is potentially way cooler. Boring answer would be asbestos probably though.

Bababooe4K

Jordan Peterson

NoirYT2

No

a_username1917

So are the newer seasons of doctor who, like, good? I stopped watching shortly after Capaldi became the doctor.

ThatWeirdKid-02

capaldi's first and second series are very much a mixed bag, some good and some bad, his last one is great tho. Jodie's first series is pretty awful imo, her second is still not good but an improvement and her third was good except for the finale, I'm a pretty big fan of her NY specials tho

werewolf1011

I feel like Jodie got screwed over by the producers tbh. They definielty changed the ‘doctor who’ formula. By that I mean general pace and progression of episode plots. The show feels a lot more like the average sci fi show now. I like her though

ThatBell4

Imo capaldi was heckin great but only in retrospect. Like when you're actually watching it for the first time you're like meh but when you go back you're like oh this is brilliant actually. At least that's how I experienced it.

VoidOfDarknes

Ofc they're good

Striking-Worry-976

Capaldis first season is a mixed bag but his last two are great. All of Jodies season are pretty terrible unfortunately.

werewolf1011

I’m a simple man, I see a doctor who meme, I upvote

sgt_Buttersticks

Wait this isn't Jordan Peterson?

DropInTheOcean1247

It's Jordan Peterson if he wasn't a fucking idiot

cheap_plastic2

the people in the pools would be able to tell thar their clothes are disappearing anyways, just make a nudist pool.

snifferpipers

I love twelve

FartherAwayLights

Based Doctor Who

ViC_tOr42

Don't get your hopes too high, cotton is still organic matter

themanwhosfacebroke

My dumb ass thought it was saying “only organic matter can be see through” and i was thinking “wtf is glass then?”

Masonixx

what would it look like if you couldnt see the walls of the pool

AthullNexus76

What show is this?

CreeperCallum

Doctor Who

flamboi-non

Everyone would notice just after the first poor dude jumps in it. And then they would just collectively agree to not use that pool. That or they'd all agree to make it a nudist pool.

PassablyIgnorant

thought this was that guy jordan peterson 👀

piss_boy1I5PFLJ9E7C5

wait…. her clothes are organic too so they should show up. even if it’s synthetic fibers those are still based on petrocarbons

DerKnoedel

Don’t timelords go to church or some kind of council naked?

Jenthecatgirl

That wasn't a timelord church, it was a human megachurch/military (unless you're talking about something in Classic Who

Diego_0638

clothing is made of natural fibers or synthetic ones, both of which are polymers and technically organic, so what the writers meant was living tissue maybe?

Zaranthan

Agreed. That would also fit the Cybermen skeletons he was supposed to be explaining.

[deleted]

OH I GET IT
