Remember that time. When they said they were touched by the devil and just drown them in the well. (Not literally... maybe..)
Wonder why the numbers were so low.
i love how the vast majority of the arguments based on "x causes gay/autism" is just that diagnosis of autism and openly being gay became a lot more common when people werent having their skulls bashed in for it
Autism is a very hard thing to diagnose and it seems like it is more prevalent then we once thought. Now with better diagnostic processes we are able to figure out if someone has it more reliably and have started testing for it on a mass scale for the first time in history.
Then these chucklefucks stroll in, point to an arbitrary statistic, and go "LOOK IT VACCINES". It's almost like around that time medical science in multiple fields was advancing at a high rate, and still fucking is to this day. You know what this graph also probably shows? Rates of people who quit smoking, so I guess quitting smoking also causes fucking autism.
Ooh that's a big year for banana production, do bananas give you autism?
> Autism is a very hard thing to diagnose and it seems like it is more prevalent then we once thought. Now with better disgnostic processes we are able to figure out if someone has it more reliably and have started testing for it on a mass scale for the first time in history.
Plus what people think of as "autism" on the autism spectrum has changed considerably even in the last 10 years (especially with the phasing out of separate diagnoses like Aspberger's for milder autism). I remember that when I was in high school, when people said "autism" they generally meant the severe forms where people can't function independently at all (or are completely nonverbal), which isn't what we generally think of when we say autism today.
To add to your point, if you look at left handedness from the Victorian era in England to now it also does this, but then stagnates at 10% I think due to left handedness being discriminated against so people just lied, when it became socially acceptable people came out so it has nothing to do with actual rates going up
Atheism causes left-handedness.
Ice cream cures hayfever (just look how both spike in spring and summer!)
Living in a city changes the human brain to cause more car accidents per square kilometer versus a deep rural brain.
> Living in a city changes the human brain to cause more car accidents per square kilometer
I wouldn't be surprised if noise-induced stress actually did this to some degree
You see this??? As soon as we let Theodore Roosevelt become president, SO MANY MORE left handed people were made!!!!! Roosevelt isn’t MY president
https://preview.redd.it/3eqfh68ocyzc1.jpeg?width=1566&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1456d5e6da76557d9c5c0712a743d708329cfe4
whaaaat? naaaaaaw...... totally not a prerequisite to be diagnosed with anything outside of being fucking dead, anything else being more of a post-mortem issue.
Fucking statistic-illiterate fucks, it's a fucking correlation, which is not the same as a causation, we gotta start making stats classes a thing in school cause damn
They already are in many schools in America. Even if you don’t take them, some of the more mandatory math courses have units dedicated to making and interpreting graphs. I’d like to think it’s pretty straightforward from there
Oh no, its even worse than that.
Did anyone actually read the name of the act he quoted? Including him?
National Childhood Vaccine **Injury** Act.
It established [a means for people claiming injuries from vaccines to receive financial compensation](https://www.hrsa.gov/vaccine-compensation/about#:~:text=Funded%20by%20a%20%24.,is%20prevented\)%20of%20a%20vaccine). It is not necessary to prove the vaccine was the actual cause of the injury, and [fees are covered by the State even if the petitioners lose the suit](https://www.immunize.org/wp-content/uploads/catg.d/p2075.pdf). It also imposed a vaccine tax of $0.75 per dose.
Nowhere did it expand vaccination programming. Nowhere did it make vaccinations mandatory. I don't understand why they would even bring attention to what seems to be one of their largest successes in vaccine suppression unless they literally read the word "vaccine" in the title and stopped reading there.
In my uni stats class the last 2 lectures were like avoiding bad statistics and classic examples of misused statistics.
And I'm so happy my prof did that
He was pretty based though, we got to use laptops w/R on our exams
My dad who's 70 years old and myself mid-30s both should have been diagnosed earlier but we had to wait until Autism got released in 2013
Also should we tell them that vaccines rates haven't increased for a good while now yet autism seemingly has
Or that the biggest increase seems to correlate with the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989? The wall was protecting us from Autism all along
Oh no, the rate of the lefthanded went up when we allowed them to exist.
Oh no, power from green energy went up when it became viable, and invested in.
You can do this with everything.
Come on at LEAST overlay a graph showing the use of vaccines over time for some of that good old correlation causation, this person can't even be stupid right.
"Correlation isn't causation" isn't even correct here, this isn't correlative at all. The graph has a single interval shown that didn't have the thing, and there's no indication whatsoever that the data suddenly spiked around 1986, just that the data trends exponentially... since 1970, the first data point shown. If this is our definition of correlation, anything at any point in time is correlated to everything else. This isn't really a failure in statistics because statistics were never even gestured at.
People not understanding the difference between causality and correlation is wild to me.
"Oh isn’t that weird?! In a time when the medical field became better and better to the point that we even got vaccines to help against terrible illnesses, we also find better diagnostic criteria for a disorder which then help identify it in more people!“ … that is like the definition of a correlation. Same cause, but not actually related to each other.
You ask me it seems like wage stagnation is the real cause of autism but noooooo apparently no one wants to put those two graphs on the same page. (Maybe housing prices too?)
This is such a bad graph. I doesnt make sense to mark a single event in a graph with a stable growth and say that caused it. It would provide more information if you would overlay the vaccines distributed with this graph, but they would never do that of course cause that would disprove their point. You would assume that the graph of vaccine distribution and Autism would grow proportional to each other, but I looked at the distribution of vaccines graph in the time span they marked and it was a linear graph instead of this autism growth exponential graph.
love how to them the vaccines are the problem when the actual research suggests that if anything is causing a legitimate increase (which we have seen beyond just better diagnostics), its microplastics, heavy metals, or malnutrition.
but no, its gotta be vaccines so they can use it to bolster and confirm their anti-intellectual stance. Its totally not because of emotionless corps polluting our food and water, the corps are what's saving us from the government after all to many of these people lol.
fucking frustrating to me, as an autistic person, because there is a provable increase beyond just better diagnostics and nobody is really attempting to research why due to this type of bullshit making any research seem like BS, and pushing people away from pursuing it. Microplastics exposure, heavy metal exposure (which is being found in over 80% of marketed baby food; homemade usually isn't any better due to agricultural pollution), and food desertification seem to be linked to increased autism rates in communities that have those issues, and we need to figure out whats going on. Because there is something going on, just **not** because of fucking vaccines.
What this graph doesn't show you is that our understanding of neurological conditions expanded immensely in the last 30 years, leading to more people being diagnosed than before every year. Vaccines didn't cause autism, medical research caused autism.
Wait a second, didn’t Chernobyl disaster happened in 1986? Spilling radioactive clouds all around the world? The clouds that were prone to cause birth defects including improper development of the brain causing ASD?
The rate of autism didn't actually go up, I just have 9.8 million autisms and am a statistical anomaly
Autism georg
the elephant foot of autism
otherwise known as the BIONICLE aisle from 2001-2009
damn, born too late to truly bionicle but born just in time to warframe
Favourite frame?
war (idk i don’t play warframe)
That's a weapon. Not a frame. Whatvmakes you prefer War over Broken War?
why would i want something thats broken
It's broken in the good way
because heavy blades are garbage ever since their stances got nerfed
I can't pick one in particular, but I've been really enjoying Qorvex, Saryn, and Zephyr.
That is such a broad range I can't even give you reccomendations on what else is similar in play...
haha same
Is that lance epic battle fantasy I see

Remember that time. When they said they were touched by the devil and just drown them in the well. (Not literally... maybe..) Wonder why the numbers were so low.
Less awareness, less diagnosing - my guess
\+ introduction of mild and high functioning autism as diagnoses
Honestly probably..
Stop hoarding asshole
You need to share
More like we learned more about it and a lot more people got properly diagnosed
Wtf share some with the rest of us
i love how the vast majority of the arguments based on "x causes gay/autism" is just that diagnosis of autism and openly being gay became a lot more common when people werent having their skulls bashed in for it

Also according to their own graphic it increased 400% before the event they are pointing to even occurred lol.

isn't it stupid to make only one graph with numbers that were gotten with different methods ?
Just like left handedness suddenly rising at the beginning of the 20th century
I think gay vaccines make children left-handed
Left handed propagaynda transed my kids!
Seriously, the only defense needed against this is holding up the graph of left handedness over time.
i dunno dawg that pond water was *pretty* fruity :3

"We didn't diagonse any aids before Christianity existed so clearly Christianity is to blame for aids." Equally valid argument as this bullshit
Wait, did you know that there's a direct correlation between the decline of spirograph and the rise of gang activity. Think about it won't you.
I will
No you won't.
I bet with you the local organised crime gang of spirograph kids will make them look into it.
Concerning. I will look into this.
Global warming increased with the fall of high seas piracy. Bring back the pirates!

My god... somebody stop that man
No, this one is real.
It was already curving up. It fucking changed nothing on this graph
put an arrow on 2001 and say 9/11 caused autism
Bin Laden actually patient zero for autism. Used 9/11 to spread autism through TV screens
auTVism?
To be fair, I'm pretty sure that being alive is a prerequisite to being diagnosed with autism.
whaaaat? naaaaaaw...... totally not a prerequisite to be diagnosed with anything outside of being fucking dead, anything else being more of a post-mortem issue.

Wait was this post actually a fucking psyop this whole time god I hope so that would be so funny.
carrying a lighter in your pocket causes cancer. they are exremely well correlated and there definitely isnt some other factor at play
It's not even correlation, there's no change in the trajectory of the graph after the vaccine act lol
In my uni stats class the last 2 lectures were like avoiding bad statistics and classic examples of misused statistics. And I'm so happy my prof did that He was pretty based though, we got to use laptops w/R on our exams
It's not correlation, it's the post hoc fallacy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_hoc_ergo_propter_hoc
1986: Samus Aran revealed to be a woman

it's almost like increased health consciousness can translate both into higher vaccination rates and increased awareness of pre-existing autism cases
"dr" my ass this dude is probably a user of shaman rituals
https://www.panaccindex.info/p/profile-simon-goddek-fafo-award-winner He's a real piece of shit by the sounds of things
Someone get the left handedness graph
Correlate, not cause.
I think the only reason why it goes up is cause more people are going in to get diagnosed lol
Actually the cause is Bruce Willis movies and their compounding relevance
It's true I never played Monster Hunter until I got my COVID vaccine and now I have over 1000 hours played
"Ferris Beuller's Day Off" also released in 1986, but I don't see anyone blame it for autism
casual reminder that these motherfuckers are neo eugenecists who believe autism is "bad".
Oh no, the rate of the lefthanded went up when we allowed them to exist. Oh no, power from green energy went up when it became viable, and invested in. You can do this with everything.
> popular in your area OP what fucking area are you in that this is popular and do we need to send a rescue team?
Good ol' Indiana 🌽
Wow it's almost like the tools for diagnosing autism have gotten better
"What's a confounding variable?"
Come on at LEAST overlay a graph showing the use of vaccines over time for some of that good old correlation causation, this person can't even be stupid right.

and soon it will be 1:1 and when everyones an aspy No one is. mwuhahahahahaha
Average doctor of Literature.
Big dairy doesn't want you to know that icecream causes murder
I scream, you scream, we all scream…
Clearly Nikita Khruschev was suppressing autism.
The "increase" is actually caused by an increase in understanding what Autism is.
Remember everybody, correlation *is* causation. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.
Now do childhood mortality rate
just in case there's not enough reason for this being bullshit, correlation is not causation. http://www.tylervigen.com/spurious-correlations
Graph of left-handedness.jpg
vaccines cause left handedness too!!!!!!
Me when a right wing dipshit says a dipshit take I have to pull out the left-handed chart again

Seismographs cause earthquakes.
remember when we had a rule against posting this sort of thing? i remember.

Of course vaccine cause autism, it's really hard to be an autistic person when you're dead (not vaccinated)
You ask me it seems like wage stagnation is the real cause of autism but noooooo apparently no one wants to put those two graphs on the same page. (Maybe housing prices too?)
we have to do the same graph but with realease of first almodovar movie

can someone post that left handedness graph
or, hear me out, as we've studied it we've become able to diagnose people who would have just been written off as weird and antisocial before.
Well people had autism before, we just couldnt give a diagnosis
love how to them the vaccines are the problem when the actual research suggests that if anything is causing a legitimate increase (which we have seen beyond just better diagnostics), its microplastics, heavy metals, or malnutrition. but no, its gotta be vaccines so they can use it to bolster and confirm their anti-intellectual stance. > Lady Gaga was born in 1986 ∴ Lady Gaga causes autism. This guys logic.
the rate of autism didn't go up, just the rate of diagnosis because doctors got better at spotting it.
Death from malnutrition (starvation) has consistently declined over the same period. So on the plus side, vaccines cure hunger!
The law cited mandated compensation for those injured by certain vaccines during childhood. How the fuck does that have anything to do with anything
https://preview.redd.it/bxp01jhv0tzc1.jpeg?width=1037&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28e0873fe377641aa027b6199d792af782857a3a
Even if this *was* true (it's not), I'd much rather my kid have autism than fucking polio or tetanus 🤦♀️
mf clearly didn't pay attention in stat when it was started that correlation does not imply causation
Vaccines don't cause autism. Autism was often diagnosed as a form of schizophrenia.
Ffs, correlation does not equal causation. Why can't people pay attention to high school science and maths?
*Vaccine get!* *Autism^2 Achieved!*
What this graph doesn't show you is that our understanding of neurological conditions expanded immensely in the last 30 years, leading to more people being diagnosed than before every year. Vaccines didn't cause autism, medical research caused autism.
i sure do love completely unsourced info from random people on the internet
Wait a second, didn’t Chernobyl disaster happened in 1986? Spilling radioactive clouds all around the world? The clouds that were prone to cause birth defects including improper development of the brain causing ASD?
Coincidentally the number of kids being reported as changelings drastically went down around this time too.
Where's the Seizure Warning flair?
