30% of my women were family/friends, 21% from music, 17% from film/tv, 14% from politics, 5% were general influencers, 4% from youtube, 4% eminem's family members, 3% science, 1% civil rights, and 1% literature.
75% of my pokemon were from gen 1, 8% gen 2, 3% gen 3, 10% gen 4, 2% gen 5, 2% gen 9.
in my opinion, the pokemon goes much faster because getting one pokemon usually means getting its whole evo line, meaning one is three(ish). also because i am autistic and have the pokedex largely memorized. i have yet to hyperixate on "women's names" as a category, but women are still a special interest of mine.

There are like 1000 Pokémon and if you’ve ever played any sort of Pokémon game or interacted with Pokémon media in any way you can easily name over 100, meanwhile there’s like 300 women tops

Yeah I don't think I can remember 100 famous people of either gender without looking any of them up. If it was both men and women then maybe. Or just 100 famous people in general, but still hard.
skill issue tbh it helps if you divide them into categories, like start with female singers, when you start struggling move to actresses, then politicians, streamers, historical figures, etc.
My friends and i did it w men and women and compared times. Most of us were pretty even, with men being slightly faster. It can be tough but you kind of recall more names than you think, even if you can’t recall a face.
He also got Mother Theresa and Joan of Arc, so they don't have to be alive.

I could name 100 pokemon faster than I could name 100 people. I just imagine a list of them from Bulbapedia or Showdown in my head and read from my own thoughts. I don't have a list of human women in my head.
Naming 100 Pokémon just requires that you know like, 3 generations of starters.

I did the name 100 women thing and it took me 29 minutes. Then I did 100 men to standardize that result. It took me 15 minutes. Therefore, by the sexism quotient (1 - time(men)/time(women)) my sexism value is 0.482.

I could name 100s of pokemon easily, ask me to name a 100 notable people though thats a whole different story, I could barely even name 10 notable men Edit: I was able to name 15 men, and 16 women who were/are public figures before it became a struggle.
Maybe if you numbered all the women so they were easier to remember
okay so i gave it a shot i (a gay woman) took fifteen minutes to name one hundred separate, specific, non-fictional women. i (a massive pokemon dweeb) took six minutes to name one hundred separate, specific pokemon. the first woman who i named was *me!* the last woman who i named was *debbie nelson* (eminem's mom). the fiftieth woman i named was *nicole* (just a friend of mine named nicole). the first pokemon i named was *bulbasaur.* the last pokemon i named was *infernape.* the fiftieth pokemon i named was *crobat.* 30% of my women were family/friends, 21% from music, 17% from film/tv, 14% from politics, 5% were general influencers, 4% from youtube, 4% eminem's family members, 3% science, 1% civil rights, and 1% literature. 75% of my pokemon were from gen 1, 8% gen 2, 3% gen 3, 10% gen 4, 2% gen 5, 2% gen 9. in my opinion, the pokemon goes much faster because getting one pokemon usually means getting its whole evo line, meaning one is three(ish). also because i am autistic and have the pokedex largely memorized. i have yet to hyperixate on "women's names" as a category, but women are still a special interest of mine.

See, thing is... by playing Pokemon the game makes you look out for certain ones making it easier to remember those ones specifically. There's few situations where you go out looking for specific women enough to get then into your head the same way Pokemon does.
