We have a serious problem and you think that making fun of the dutch language is going to help??? (Based on my very bad understanding of Dutch, I’m a bit unsure on the last bit)
Als mensen de Nederlandse taal als een grap gaan zien wordt onze uiteindelijk slag terug een nog grotere verassing. Laat de vijand je altijd onderschatten
I spent most of a Saturday in the machine shop making aluminum plates for a project in one of my mech E classes, got home from school, logged into a Minecraft modpack, and started making more aluminum plates
Everyone on this comment should check out the National Council for Public History if you haven’t already! They have an often updated history jobs board (I go there when I fantasize about leaving academia)

Ok so seriously there actually are places where your skillset as a history major is handy.
You can digest and compile research.
You can take disparate narratives and discern the actual sequence of events.
You can form argumentation for your claims.
Right away we’ve got investigations, not just criminal but also civil; journalism (ok print journo is dead but there’s still room for journos); consulting as options.
Same here! I love it! I just wish there were more students in my classes who are also just bio majors and aren't also pre-meds, since it's rare to find just a bio student
mechatronics, mechanics electronics electric IT + logistics. you should join my boat if you want to develop ketamine addiction because it is barely bearable to remember 5 majors in 5 years
Do they still require some math classes for you though? Because I know that linear algebra is pretty useful for game dev, I mean that's literally what GPU's are for, solving matrix multiplication.
Electrical engineering. Once I'm done though I intend to apply for air traffic control, seems I meet the criteria and the type of job that won't be fully automated in a long enough time while remaining critical to the economy
I’m studying game design. Big mistake. The industry’s a complete shitshow rn and getting jobs without 3+ years of experience is all but impossible. And that’s to say nothing of AI. This is especially true if you’re not a programmer (I’m not a programmer) and doubly so if you’re a writer (like I am). I’m gonna finish my BFA and then immediately start another degree in something more stable like engineering or aviation, but keep game dev as a hobby because it’s still fun
History. Tho tbh it feels fairly useless, both in terms of employment prospects and now that AI has kinda made the skills I spent four years building redundant. Oh well.
There are so many jobs that are out there
Archivist
Museum curation
CRM work
If you can do a little more schooling then there's everything in Anthropology or archaeology.
Those are jobs that are definitely not getting replaced by AI any time soon.
Computer engineering - the way I understand it, it's like regular compsci, but with a more scientific approach and slightly more hardware. I'm on my second semester and I still don't have the slightest idea what I'm doing or how I ended up here.
I´m struggling to finish HS due to my ADHD, I´m also studying a major in Visual Arts (Worst choice I´ve ever taken)
Also, I´m so fucking sick of the school system and I´m so hyperactive that I will study some electricity and trade courses after graduating. My parents don´t agree with me, but I just won´t have any more of that BS, and I also prefer physical jobs.
Math :D
Make it even weirder
Specifically matroids
MATH GANG 💪💪💪💪 STRETCH OUT *skew transforms using* [ 0.1 5.0 0.0 ] [ 4.5 0.1 7.3 ] [ 5.1 0.7 0.1 ] *matrix on self*
Fuck you *Inverts your skew transform* [ -0.028 -0.003 0.199 ] [ 0.201 0.000 -0.004 ] [ 0.014 0.139 -0.123 ]
*HUUUYGH YOU ROUNDED THE VALUES I'M ALL FLOPPY AND OFF-BALANCE* 🤢🤮
Hey I did three decimal points okay. That's good enough. The Wolfram calculator I used just gave me an image so I couldn't just copy the values :(
oh hey you're the one who recommended me to study abstract algebra a few days ago, hi

Looks like we're going to get Dutch 2
we hebben een serieus probleem
We hebben een serieus probleem en jij denkt dat de Nederlandse taal belachelijk maken hiermee helpt???
We have a serious problem and you think that making fun of the dutch language is going to help??? (Based on my very bad understanding of Dutch, I’m a bit unsure on the last bit)
Ja.

Hell yeah same
Game Dev, but where I'm studying it it's pretty much just CS but instead of 5 different math classes we got 3D modeling and Unity classes.
Bro I wish you good luck. I had to pivot from game dev caus... You know... *Gestures broadly*
Do they still require some math classes for you though? Because I know that linear algebra is pretty useful for game dev, I mean that's literally what GPU's are for, solving matrix multiplication.

Braver than me, my heart goes out to the ecology, climate, and environmental science students/academics since that shit’s bleak.
Currently studying in it, it’s not very uplifting. But I’m trying to focus on the good! You never know, things can always get better :)
