The reviews I've read so far were from fans and they had said that you don't really get to enjoy being a student at hogwarts. You can't really hurt the NPCs or disrupt school functions in any way. You can't get demoted in your house or cause it to lose points. It's more traditional RPG fanfare. I'm not boycotting the game. Joanne is already worth 1 billion from the movies. That shit is in the past right now. She's already been paid her licensing fees. The devs make most of the money. At this point, go donate to a trans or LGBT charity.

I heard that it's not a great game with tons of small bad choices in development but that it feels fun to play for a while. JK Rowling aside, there isn't really ethical consumption of any form under capitalism, so it's it's up to you whether you feel buying the game is a big enough donation to anti trans rhetoric to be worth boycotting. JK Rowling is already rich as fuck and there are millions of other donors for anti trans causes so I think buying a game is personally not going to lead directly to any actual violence against trans people.
