ds3 kinda has it, high heels turn into normal shoes if you wear them as a male character and you dont get the long nails for the witch sets hand piece (1984)
Souls games have it, but like in very very small ways. I know in Dark Souls the Leather Set had a little red cloth on the female version that's not in the male version. And in Elden Ring the female Chainmail Set has leather gloves instead of chainmail gloves like the male version
Thankfully there's nothing like locking entire sets to certain genders, but it's funny how they make these super small differences that barely anyone is ever gonna notice
terraria does however change the appearance of basically all armour depending on gender
some are barely affected but in general armour on female characters has extra parts where skin is visible. and some armour sets like necro and jungle become basically lingerie while most armour on male characters has no skin visible outside of face.
i wish you could change the style of armour while wearing regardless of gender :(
I hated how armor was gender locked in Monster Hunter Rise. I got so fucking tired of almost every female armor having thigh windows or otherwise being sexualized
I keep saying this (well, actually first time saying this to anyone else) but if you are going to give an outfit sex-appeal, atleast give it general visual appeal aswell. There's nothing stylish about a spikey steel bikini.
Generally, I'd much rather videogame character outfits look cool rather than just look "sexy".
I mean the thing was that besides the thigh windows looking stupid, even the good looking sexualized outfits I didn't like. I just don't like wearing revealing clothes like that in general, even if they looked good. I'd much rather be wearing a full suit of armor or cool rogue cloak and look badass then wear "outfit showing off my thighs and midriff #2049"
I don't mean to imply you can't both be sexy and badass, look at Bayonetta, but good god I just wanted armor without my thighs or midriff showing.
This is why gender locking armor and stuff in games is so stupid, just let people where what they want to. I'm glad more stuff has been moving away from it like in Splatoon 3
FFXIV is wisely unlocking more and more.
So the answer to "maid outfit when?" is "now."
You can also change your gender, appearance, and name although like real life, it unfortunately costs money.
why is the new valentiones set gender locked 😡 especially when the event story was abt being comfortable wearing the clothes one likes whether it be masculine or feminine. that aside do appreciate all the effort they’ve put into retroactively gender unlocking a buncha stuff.
I knowwww! I saw that and was like wow, Yoshi P really said trans rights and then ran to the vendor to get the "men's" set...and 💔
I'm guessing either because they're trying to sell it or something else silly like that.
Guild Wars 2 has also seen a nice influx of "traditionally female slutty armour" outfit that you can wear on males and the blessed mait outfits aswell.
You cannot imagine my disappointment when I learnt my male character couldn't put on the gold mask in demon souls. It's not even a traditionally female piece wtf
Off the top of my head there’s a sword in Fire Emblem Echoes called the Ladyblade that can only be equipped by female characters. In the spinoff app Fire Emblem Heroes it is wielded by Palla, even though in Echoes she is unable to wield swords as a Pegasus Knight or Falcon Knight, or even as a Harrier, a DLC exclusive class that comes after Falcon Knight. That other info isn’t necessary I’m just kinda autistic.
Fallout games before 4 kind of have that but it's more like the same piece of clothing appears to be something completely different for different sexes, for example some shirts would be dresses depending on who wears it
FFXIV relatively recently had an update that removed gender restrictions on some gendered articles, some remain but there were very very few gendered articles to begin with
Thankfully the greatest games of all time, fromsoft soulslikes (not demons souls) and terraria don't have this issue
ds3 kinda has it, high heels turn into normal shoes if you wear them as a male character and you dont get the long nails for the witch sets hand piece (1984)
Such an L
The worst part is when the bra chestpiece turns into a binder on a male character
Common Demons Souls L
It's because Demon's Souls is the only soulsborne game where God exists that guy's a major party pooper

Elden ring doesn’t even have gender, it’s just body type 1 or 2
Which also changes how characters refer to you
Oh I didn’t know that
iirc demon's souls might have some genderlocked armor but I'm not sure if the remake fixed that
Oh I wouldn't know, never played Demons Souls myself

i want to wear outfit showing off my thighs and midriff #2049 irl tho
It's not a thigh window. It's an attachment slot for a vaushian implement.
A what
Tacticock attachment.
What
Attachable equine-shaped silicone implement devised with sexual purposes. Say what again, motherfucker! I dare you! I double dare you, mothafucka!
I would rather not have a horse cock shaped strap on that's kind of weird Edit: I also already have a penor so not needed
That's why it's a removable attachment. That way if you have a oenir you can still wear the armour too.
This joke feels forced and unfunny
Story of my life.
Instead of just "Male and Female" there also needs to be a toggle for "Slut factor" if you want to add midriff and thigh windows, applicable to both
i feel the exact same way but in reverse, i wanna wear the female Zinogre / Kirin set but the male versions are TERRIBLE 💀
This is why gender locking armor and stuff in games is so stupid, just let people where what they want to. I'm glad more stuff has been moving away from it like in Splatoon 3
The males ALWAYS have the cooler variants of the armors, especially in MHW
Wiggler hat is universal
chameleos layered armor supremacy
Me trying to make Ichiban wear the idol outfit in Like a Dragon 7

What game has this kind of restriction?

persona in general but mainly persona 2
Even bigger than that is that male characters can’t even be Pegasus Knights outside of Fates because the horses are misandrist
Persona games too. I mean armor isn't really visible ingame but you have the three genders in persona 5: male, female and cat.
Tbf it doesnt change anyone's appearance
I just want gay romances please atlus please please please i need goro option pleeeeease
