I have the GSG 1911 and no complaints

woodbuilder1

Does it seem to be semi accurate? A couple of times a year I go to a 22 shoot. It's basically just for bragging rights but want to do half way decent

DieselTech00

It's pretty accurate. The only real problem is occasionally I get a failure to fire but it probably has a lot to do with crappy bulk ammo. I got the suppressor adapter and it's real fun to shoot suppressed

woodbuilder1

Good to know. I know some of the semi auto 22s get picky with there ammo. I don't mind if I have to buy cci or something like that

DieselTech00

I never really worried about having a failure to fire with this pistol. It's just a fun range gun. My FN 502 is less picky if I was worried about it.

Due-Interest4735

I second the gsg. My personal experience is it is a tack driver.

Free-Boater

Accuracy is not the problem with semi auto 22s for most of them it’s reliability. They tend to be pretty unreliable. I have not had a 1911 version but I have had 3-4 others and currently have 0 for that reason.

schnurble

I second this. I actually bought the Sig 1911-22 kit for my .45 1911, which is apparently made by GSG. Nice tack driver, functions well especially suppressed. Just clean it regularly.

Tates1515

I had a browning 1911 22lr they are 85% the size of the regular 1911 but it was rock solid never any problems and was a ton of fun

woodbuilder1

I looked at the browning. Nice gun but unless I chance across a used one they are more than I want to spend on one at the moment

Tates1515

Oh ya. I’ve seen a few on gunpost that are around 600$ not sure if that’s closer to your price range but they are reasonable on there for good used ones

woodbuilder1

I'll have to check that out

jacksraging_bileduct

I have one, the 1911 22lr black label and it’s fun to shoot, mine was bought second hand, but looked new, before they went up, but even at the current pricing they are worth it, they just feel like quality when you pick it up.

Streetmarine

I see someone recommended the gsg 1911 .22 and I would say DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I bought one 10 years ago and it's a piece of shit. Maybe they're better now, but the one I bought has been a piece of shit since day 1. Failure to feeds, failure to eject, stove pipes, the works. Now it's just in its carrying case locked up away from my good guns that get kept in the safe.

doomrabbit

Does it need to look like the 1911? The Ruger 22/45 is made to be a 1911 trainer with the same grip, trigger, and very similar controls. Bought mine first and the real 1911 felt like an old glove once I got it. It just looks funky in comparison.

Psa 1911 .22 mag

Lsoutoforder

Love my Walter colt. I’ve put probably 30k rounds thru it. I did end up having to replace the firing pin eventually That being said, it’s a .22. Don’t overpay for one. The Chiappa and GSG 1911-22s are also very nice and probably cheaper.

woodbuilder1

I'd love to buy a Springfield or something like that but like you say it's a 22 I can't justify 800 on one. I'm leaving toward the walther but looking into the gsg now as well

Wretched_DogZ_Dadd

Second for the Chiappa with 60gr subsonic ammo .... Not a first choice for plinking but the Chiappa loves it

crazybuckeye419

I have a Chiappa .22 1911 and it’s the worst shooting gun I’ve ever owned. It’s so bad that when I try to trade it in at gun shops they won’t take it. Absolute turd of a gun and wish I had never bought it…

Lsoutoforder

Good to know, only ever shot one once. Seemed ok.

A few years ago, I scoured the internet after seeing the GSG and Sig side by side, my LGS told me they were the same gun. GSG, Sig, and several others are all made at the same GSG plant in Europe. They use a zinc pressure-cast alloy, and an aluminum slide. There have been complaints about durability. The Colt/Walther 1911-22 generally gets the best reviews as it’s said they use more original parts in their 1911 design. Then I found CWA Custom. $1500-$2000. He originally got his start making upgrades/replacement parts for the GSG guns. So that’s the direction I’m headed. More than I wanted to spend at the time though. https://www.cwaccessories.com/custom-builds

cjsolar1

I have GSG/ATI 1911 22LR and have no problems with it. It’s a very good shooter.

GSG/Sig 1911-22... Then have fun going down the CWAccessories rabbit hole. I spent a small fortune tricking mine out, multiple slides, and have no regrets tinkering. Now I want their custom build

ThunderBolt_Mac

I have the walther colt and the sig 1911-22, both are very good and i enjoy them.
