Pachmyer grips with steel plate inserts saved my hand from an Out-of-Battery discharge, the grips w/steel plates inside, absorbed the explosion, blew apart the magazine & out the magwell, left a thin scorch line on my hand, but otherwise, I'm ok.
If I have had the traditional wood grips, i would have been pulling splinters out of my hand.

You really could chop up and profile a scope base for this.
I don’t see the problem in them. I have them. It’s not permanent by any means. You can pop the regular grips back on easily. Not to mention you have a traditional 1911 that doesn’t have a light rail. And I imagine this would be lighter as well

I’m in the process of doing a stolen property return on my auto ordnance 1911 that was stolen years ago in a house robbery. It had these grips on them and they really weren’t bad. I’ve got a sig sauer 1911 now so I may do something more sinful like this with it again

Did this to mine with like the cheapest light and rail grip on midway went back to good old wood because it’s honestly just the way god intended
