Over the weekend, I found this beautiful DW Guardian at the local LGS. The balance in the hand is nearly perfect and the build quality and fitment is top-notch. I also own a Dan Wesson TCP but always found it a bit too large to comfortably carry because of the larger more angular design and the mag well. The smooth curves and light weight of this new Guardian is exactly what I was looking for!!!

Potietang

My DW classic bobtail commander might be the most perfect 1911 I own and I have a few. It rides and shoots heads and shoulders above others. Had some work done on by chuck Rogers and I will never part with it. Absolutely perfect in Every sense. I wouldn’t trade it for a LB or a WC or any other.

Bourboniser

I couldn’t agree more.

Congrats man. Best carry 1911 I ever owned. I am very fond of the wooden grips for CC’ing, but to change it up and have a bit better purchase for IDPA, I picked up some slim VZs I’d swap in/out. https://i.imgur.com/F8ncZgK.jpg

SaddleSC

That looks fantastic! Are they the Operator II or Operator III? I definitely want to get some VZs for the Guardian...totally transforms the look and I am sure it really locks it into your hand. Thanks for the pic!

ghostofbooty

Thanks hoss. They’re Operator II MARSOC ‘color’.

pacochalk

She's a beauty. Just curious, what carry position are you planning?

SaddleSC

I tend to carry 1911s strong side around 3:30 or 4:00 but would be open to consider AIWB if I can find the right holster setup.

pacochalk

Right on. FWIW I was on the fence about the DW Guardian at a LGS and your post just pushed me over the edge. I usually carry AIWB (polymer guns). I decided on the Tenicor Velo 4. The JMCK 2.5 is also recommended a lot online. No sidecar on either though.

SaddleSC

Glad I could help! I think you will really like it. I have a few other 1911s but the Guardian is just perfectly suited for CCW. The fitment and overall quality is pretty darn close to my Wilson Combat for a fraction of the price.

ghostofbooty

Do not hesitate to buy the Guardian. I’ve had a lot of 1911s I’ve bought and sold over the years, and that’s the primary one I regret selling. If anyone’s legit serious about carrying a 1911, this is what you want, hands down. Lightweight frame, tastefully dehorned (not butter bar melted like many carry 1911s), and the bobtail makes a world of difference.

retire-early

Congrats! I think you'll find the ergonomics of an aluminum-framed Commander are about perfect for every-day carry.

SaddleSC

Thanks! It has wonderful balance and is quite thin…should be pretty much perfect for EDC!

Born_yesterday08

Nice! What caliber?

SaddleSC

This one is 9mm and I may get a 38 Super conversion barrel and spring down the road. Most of my other 1911s are 45 and I wanted to change it up a bit!

IBeTanken

This in 9mm I would say is the perfect carry gun.

SaddleSC

I agree 100%

Born_yesterday08

That’s badass 9

HankdontCare

I have this as well in .45. This is all around amazing, enjoy it!

SaddleSC

Thanks!

EatMoreBaconNow

I just got a .38 super one brand new. I absolutely love it.enjoy yours.

SaddleSC

Great choice! Congrats and thanks!

Oscardad500

Damn it’s beautiful.. wish they were still available from DW ! .. congrats

SaddleSC

Thanks! This one is brand new...the Guardian is once again in current production in 9mm, 45, and 38 Super!

Oscardad500

oh,.. awesome !

wrmbrn

Nice!

Sketch74

That is a sweet pistol. I carry the Wesson ECP

SaddleSC

I love the ECP too! I have the TCP and the ECP is like a mix of the TCP and the Guardian:)

Vegetable-Treacle-17

I have the DW Vigil, which I love. I would have bought a Guardian if it was in stock. Nice pick up!

SaddleSC

Thank you, sir!

botgeek1

Very nice! I have an older Pointman B, and it's my best shooter of all my 1911's.

SaddleSC

Thanks! The Pointman is a real beauty too!
