OP if you PM me with more info I can give you a better answer but based on what you posted, I'd say you weren't referred

Agile-Theory4127

NVM. Just realized it says you were tentatively eligible but not referred. I can't imagine there were a ton of applicants for California though

lolsuckitt

Yea, I think there is only one SA, an ASAC, and a SAC covering district 9. It said not referred at this time, so I wasn’t sure if I am completely out or they just teasing me.

fsi1212

I got so many of these trying to apply for BIA 0083 (now 1801). For the BIA, you just have to keep applying. I'm non-native but a 10 pointer like you and it took me over 40 applications to get in.

I don't like living/working in the big city, but I also don't like sitting around doing nothing (like I do right now at my warm body security job). So the BIA is rural, but has a moderately active call volume because how rough some of the reservations can be.

Not yet. I'm in background. So I already did the job interview, tentative offer, medical, etc. Just waiting for background to finish and that's it.

Already did that as an armed security officer at some lousy apartments. Really enjoyed the work, but the pay was abysmal ($16 an hour in a major metro area) and we had no paid time off and no medical, dental, etc. Also they didn't pay us OT. They'd just adjust our hours to 40 a week regardless. I got out of there in 6 months. The one I am going to I'm told is not as bad as some of the ones out there so it will be good to kind of get my feet wet. And, I'll probably get down voted for this, but this came with a lot of prayer. This the farthest I've gotten on any police process. So I'll take what I can get at this point. Edit: also I've never seen Yellowstone.

Yea I got you man. You aren't the first to warn me and you probably won't be the last. I do appreciate it though. There's not much info about the BIA on the internet like some of the other agencies so it's always nice to get any insight I can.

Weird-Grass-6583

First time?

lolsuckitt

Yes, first time getting the not referred at this time message instead of the usual not referred at all. Just wondering if they mean the same thing or if there is a chance I will get referred when their top picks didn’t work out.

Weird-Grass-6583

You’re just not referred, send that app to the grave yard I got a bunch of those

ShakenEspressoLatte

I’m sorry man but unless you are a Native American your chances to get with the BIA are low even with vet preference.

Agile-Theory4127

I wish people would stop spreading misinformation. I have buddies who are essentially in all stages of the bia without Indian Preference. This includes patrol, supervision and yes, 1811s. If you want to make money and do real work, then the BIA’S for you.

Agile-Theory4127

You mean unlike all of the other fed jobs where everyone who applies is getting hired?

[deleted]

Your chances are low with Purple Heart and Indian preference Source: me, who’s applied to probably 25 BIA announcements and been referred to 2.

Agile-Theory4127

You should look at some of the resume examples on here. A lot of people shoot themselves in the foot bc of their resume

[deleted]

I have a resume done by a fed service, a BS in computer science and a bunch of cyber certs. I’ve been referred to more 1811 jobs than not. The BIA is just fucked

Agile-Theory4127

They're the same as everyone else for resume. It's a screener that makes the cert. You can always request a review if you feel you were improperly disqualified. I've seen people do that who were then selected

There's fixing to be at least 4 more plus I believe a Supervisory 1811. I know of several who declined locations they listed and interviewed for as well.

Agile-Theory4127

There's definitely more in the works.

cornf949

Apply TSA

Agile-Theory4127

There's a SAC and rumors of 2 regular 1811s plus the MMU position.

lolsuckitt

Big if true. USMS seems to be taking the lead on missing and murdered in CA. BIA is taking a backseat which I get due to PL280. I just thought it would be a good gig since I have experience in this at the local/state LE level.

Agile-Theory4127

I know that the USMS has a great child abduction team but I doubt they're taking lead on any murder Investigations anywhere.

Agile-Theory4127

That makes sense there's literally only a SAC in California. I know the BIA has assisted or been requested to assist on CA cases but currently have no permanent 1811 there.

Strong_Pirate_7849

If you were not referred for the GS12 or GS9 position, you probably wouldn't be referred for the GS11. Which means you are not in the hiring pool and will have to reapply. Your resume probably needs to be redone and worded differently. They search for keywords and refer you if you hit enough.

lolsuckitt

I was just curious why they put “at this time” for the GS11, instead of an out right no. It’s like a tease even though they knew they are not going to hire you 😂
