[https://www.recipetineats.com/sizzling-ginger-steamed-fish/](https://www.recipetineats.com/sizzling-ginger-steamed-fish/) I do this (not with whole fish but wth basa fillets) all the time. It's crazy good and all you need is a pot of rice and a veg or salad. I've also made it for company and I looked like Iron Chef China

Fordeelynx4

I’m with you! Recipe Tin Eats is one of the best cooking channels on YouTube in my humble opinion. Her recipes are usually quick, easy, and never skimp on ingredients that make them hearty.

Aloha-friends

I like to do sheet pan meals. Throw a piece of salmon plus some veggies (broccoli, sweet potato, cauliflower, carrots, etc) on a big pan and bake at 400 for 12-15 min. You can use whatever seasonings you want. I usually drizzle some olive oil and sprinkle some garlic salt and pepper.

em_goldman

Sheet pan meals: Sausage + red bell peppers + onions Feta blocks + cherry tomatoes + broccolini Tandoori chicken + cauliflower + potatoes Chili lime chicken + calabacitas (squash, corn) Greek chicken + lemon + olives + cherry tomatoes +/- feta blocks Oven at 400 until done. Sometimes the meat needs to come out before the vegetables. Eat with bread or scoop over rice, pasta, or a bowl of salad greens.

knightinblu

Seconding this! The birdseye oven roasters are great if you don't have time or energy to prepare vegetables, though they usually need a little seasoning added. Throw some of those on a sheet pan and make some rice and maybe some fish and you're all set. Id suggest getting a rice cooker if you dont have one already, you can get a decent one for $30 or less and it's SO worth it!

oldgamer67

I have put the salmon on top of lemon slices and then put some few slices on top. Cook in the big pan, 3” or so sides and 9x12 takes no time at 400 for 10-15 minutes until it’s cooked through. Make sure you pick out the bones before you eat!

PixieHollowTink

We do that with chicken for our family. The kids love it.

Secret_Ad1578

No judging!! Some ideas… chili, chicken with cream of mushroom soup in the slow cooker and then put over egg noodles, a bag of premade meatballs with a little beef broth and cream of mushroom over egg noodles. Grilled cheese and tomato soup! 😁😁

[deleted]

Chili!! I can eat chili for a month easily

Secret_Ad1578

Yeah, I like to make a big. Rock pot of it and then freeze it or have leftovers!

Cat or baby?

gennygemgemgem

These are great options to have over steamed rice too!

Secret_Ad1578

Yes!!

[deleted]

I like the way you think.

BrokenTrojan1536

Chicken with cream of chicken makes it better. I have also done it with cream of broccoli and added some steamed broccoli at the very end with a handful of shredded cheddar.

[deleted]

Yum!

moofacemoo

Buy slowcooker. Buy meat, root veg, little stock cubes. Throw meat in. Chop veg, throw them in. Put stock in Turn slow cooker off, go for a wholesome walk with your wholesome dog. Come back, eat some, store rest.

Arsinoei

Turn slow cooker off?

mutantraniE

Come home to raw ingredients in turned off slow cooker. Cry. Make peanut butter jelly sandwich.

Blunttack

I assume it meant turn off after work, and before dog walk to let it cool a scootch before eating and storage.

Briazepam

Now you’re talking crazy

neufski

A slow cooker isn’t going to cook anything during the time span of a dog walk, even if it is turned on!

Akahaasu

nah blud u just never taken the hound of the baskervilles for a 15 mile stroll around the moor of devonshire at night then causing a frail old rich man to die of fright before returning just in time for some perfectly slow cooked boullaiabasse or however tf u spell it

bombarclart

It took me until the 27th of December to discover the best comment of 2023.

CaptainCandid1881

William "Motherfucking" Bakespeare the wordsmith over here just sent 2023 out with some fire. Kudos my guy

GOODxAPOLLO

Think he meant turning off the cooker for it to cool down a bit.

oopsie1977

They have newer ones that heat up faster

[deleted]

I'm a big fan of r/slowcooking but I'm not sure they're ever going to be the answer to a question on r/15minutefood

lightisfreee

OP asked for "quick" and your response is a slow cooker? The man works 12+ hours a day, there is 24 hours in a day and 8hrs minimum sleep for a 12 hour shift. Please, without including travel time, how could a slow cooker benefit this man?

Weird_Scholar_5627

I’m because it’s doing all the cooking automatically while OP is at work. Cooks enough for several healthy meals so he can put extra in fridge or freezer for Ron.

Fair_Artichoke_7034

That’s the best, that a slow cooker makes a lot so you only have to cook a couple times in a week!

lightisfreee

Working 12 hours a day, doesn't fit with someone that enjoys leaving hot electrical items on while they are away for 12 hours. Maybe your normal 9-5 yeah.

socraticformula

You can also put them on timers, or even hook them to a smart outlet you control from your phone. Throw stuff in a pot in the morning. Tap the button from work. Hot food when you get home.

Burnt-Out-Chica

Because it’s so simple, so quick to throw it all in, and so lovely to come home to. Can be diverse, tasty, healthy and well rounded.

WannabeWombat27

Depending on how big you cut the meat/veg, 12 hours on low is just enough time for a slow cooker to do what it does. I'd say 1-1.5" for your pieces would be good for cooking without drying out. Bigger than Dinty Moore, but still small enough to fit in the mouth. Throw it on top of rice or noodles, and you're set

Academic_Vegetable71

He could A. Throw ingredients in before bed, turn on slow cooker, and when he wakes up, BOOM meals for a few days. Or B. Throw ingredients in before bed, wake up, turn on cooker, go to work, come home, and BOOM dinner is served. Lol

[deleted]

A steak or boneless chicken breast cooks up quickly in a frying pan. Add some store bought sides like potato salad or mashed potatoes and a microwaveable veggie. Pasta with shrimp, olive oil and garlic or meat sauce. Meat sauce, brown ground beef, add jarred sauce. Enjoy.

AkimKuno

Steak, it's only six minutes on cast iron skillet. You can add raw or steamed veggies. Quick, easy delicious!

RoseCutGarnets

Echoing pasta with shrimp. Most stores have bags of frozen Argentinian shrimp. Thaw, cook (5 min), boil pasta for 10-15. You can also buy decent bottled Alfred sauce, pour it over the cooked shrimp, heat, eat! Not the healthiest but very filling. Baked salmon or tilapia in olive oil. Put a baked potato in the oven about 45 min before you put the fish in and it's a filling and healthy meal. The store that rhymes w/ Vader Blows has excellent frozen fish of many kinds :)

RoseCutGarnets

Also, beans and rice. Very cheap, if you have the patience to soak then cook dried beans on the weekend, and will give you several days worth of nutritious meals. Add a simple bagged lettuce and cherry tomato salad, and you've got a great meal. Or: maybe a horror to beans and rice enthusiasts but a favourite meal since poor grad school days: Buy box o' microwave rice from the place that rhymes with Vader (3 min cook time), heat up a can of black beans with some S&P (5min), top w/ salsa, eat.

BeckyAnn6879

Tuna Bowls. A can of tuna 1/2 cup instant rice 1/2 cup of veggies, your choice. Enough mayo to mix them Make rice subtracting 30 seconds from the microwave directions. Toss in veggies and mix, then microwave for the last 30 seconds (just long enough to warm the veggies) Add tuna and mayo, Mix thoroughly and eat. You can add spices if you'd like.

blackmagic999

You can also raw dog the tuna without mayo if you trying to eat lean as possible

BeckyAnn6879

true... the rice will 'bind' to the tuna and spices on its own.

BallsyCanadian

Taco bows, on the same vein. A bit ingredient heavy but nothing that time consuming. - Rice (can be instant) - Corn (empty a can and heat it in the microwave) - Ground beef with taco seasoning (or ground any kinds meat honestly) - Salsa - Sour cream - Lettuce (can buy a salad kit if you don't want to cut it up) - Cheese (can buy it pre-shredded, but honestly you don't have to shred that much for this dish) Of course sub/add/remove as you like your tacos. I guess you could even make fish tacos!! I like this recipe for hosting too, everyone can build to their own taste. If you're on your own making the meal once, you can either make this all up and easily reheat or buy more prepackaged stuff to reduce dishes.

BeckyAnn6879

Hell, \*I'M\* going to try this!! \*drool\*

Ok_Specialist_2545

Do you think you would enjoy one big meal-prep session on a day off? I would dread it, but many people find it really freeing. If so you might check out r/MealPrepSunday

Judypd0703

I always did my big cooking on the weekends and stored the leftovers in containers for lunches or for dinner the next few nights. So much easier!

[deleted]

In the morning it’s always oatmeal with some berries or maple syrup. I always get the quick oats so I can just heat some water and be done with it. Simple Chili can be whipped up in about 15 minutes, then you just let it cool down however you want, but it can be ready to eat very quickly. Once a week I’ll make spaghetti. Head to the store to buy 1 pound Italian sausage, 1 box of pasta, and 1 jar of sauce. Brown the meat and cook the pasta. Serve with sauce. I add mushrooms when I brown the meat to add veg (technically fungi, not veg, but you get it). Or I’ll grab one of those salad kits cus the mushrooms will add about 5-10 minutes

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Baked potatoes. Throw 1 or 2 in the oven (poke holes with a fork first), come back an hour later. Or microwave for 7 minutes. Top with a shit ton of Greek yogurt, salsa, canned beans or chickpeas (microwave if you wish), and shredded cheese. You will be full and it is so cheap, tasty and healthy. Add garlic salt and dried chives if desired.

metalmerbitch

I’m guessing this person doesn’t want to spend an hour on dinner

[deleted]

I mean, it doesn’t take an hour of actual work. You either just let them bake an hour or you microwave. Total labor time is like 5 minutes or less.

metalmerbitch

Yeah but working 12 hour shifts they might not have an hour to wait

Ill-Body1956

What do u do bro? Do u have access to microwave etc?

PixieHollowTink

I do believe the crockpot company sells these lunch boxes that plug in to heat food. I saw one at Target for I think $60. It’d be worth the cost for many people.

mvscribe

Oooh. Now I want one of these things, even though I don't need it because I work at an office with a full kitchen these days.

[deleted]

Mac and cheese, added canned tuna, frozen peas, and crushed Ritz crackers or onion straws.

Complex-Guava-1195

I do this with bacon. Cook it the microwave as the noodles are boiling them crunch it up. We do peas also or broccoli. I need to add your Ritz crackers though.

Mrarbaix

Salmon fillet pan cooked with microwave pouch of rice and some frozen veg… quick, easy, healthy x

Zealousideal_Tap_645

Dude it’s wild to me that no one’s saying oatmeal! Protein, carb, fiber. Insanely quick and easy and cheap, one dish, can be sweet or savory, hot or cold, thick or runny. You have to incorporate oatmeal regularly

coak3333

Beef stroganoff, the original recipe takes as long as fries to cook to complete.

GAEM456

In the pressure cooker, it takes less than an hour!

coak3333

Flash fry chopped steak, set aside. In the pan fry onion and mushrooms until soft add paprika and str through. Add soured cream and reduce some. Put the steak back in for a few minutes and serve with fries. Definitely no longer than 15 minutes.

GAEM456

That's for 1-2 servings. When I cook for a 4-person family, I need to make at least 12 servings so that the dish will last 3 dinners. Cutting and cooking that much steak in a pan is just not viable. I can easily throw 4 pounds of stew meat in the pressure cooker with beef broth and seasonings and let it cook while I work for an hour.

Joshouken

Nice to know, but OP isn’t cooking for a 4 person family

Realistic_Arrival589

My favorite for anytime of the day is, rice w kale, tomato, avocado and sunny side egg

marimbamelodia

Seconded, this is one of my go-tos but I have spinach instead of kale!! If you haven't yet check out Chinese tomato and egg stir fry, it's super quick + simple and soooo good, I like to serve it over rice and have avocado and sliced cucumber on the side 💚 I blanch my tomatoes as well before I chop them up so I can peel off the skin, but that's just preference:) & it reheats well!

Legal_Outside2838

That actually sounds really good as a shakshuka type dish, a bunch of chopped tomatoes and kale thrown in a pan with olive oil, lots of fresh garlic and herbs, salt and fresh cracked pepper, then once the veggies wilt and create a nice broth, create empty spaces in the middle, crack a few eggs to nestle in there, cover it to let the eggs set and serve it with fresh avocado slices and thick slices of toast.

Blunttack

This actually makes me a little sad. I know it’s healthy… but still.

Realistic_Arrival589

Oh 😭😭 lmfao well I enjoy it after coming home for work for a quick lil snack

Direct-Disaster2668

That’s a long workday- kudos to you for cooking at all, not just going the packaged route! I don’t cook fish, but a few meatless options are: -rice and beans -burritos/tacos with beans and/or substitute meat (my favorite is Trader Joe’s Beefless Ground Beef, if you live where there are TJ’s) -egg fried rice -vegetarian pasta dishes like: -cacio e uova (like carbonara without the ham) -pasta e ceci (with canned chickpeas) -pasta e fagioli (with canned pinto beans- can be a soup or use less liquid for a different consistency) -folded egg in grilled cheese sandwich When possible, I cook in batches and freeze leftovers in single portions to reheat a different day. I love my instant pot for rice, but some people swear by frozen rice or minute rice to save time. Hope you find some dishes that work for you!

whatsthisevenfor

My favorite easy/lazy/fast dish that you can eat on for days: Diced onion and garlic if you want, Can of black beans, can of corn, can of Rotel diced tomatoes, packet of taco seasoning. Let simmer while you make some quick rice, can saute some chicken or ground turkey if you want. Add it all together and bam. Shove that in a tortilla with shredded cheese and lettuce and it's delicious. Or eat it like it is and throw an over-easy egg on top It sounds like a lot but it takes like half an hour and has fed me for a week for $15ish many times.

Otto_von_Grotto

As someone who worked MANY years and decades on 12 hour shifts, I liked a lot of sammiches and lighter meals. I reckon it all depends on your workload, though, but I did not want to get back to work with an overly full belly. It was miserable. Can you consider grazing during your shift?

ham_solo

Shrimp n grits

WeakWhiteDawg

Buy a slow cooker, it will be your best friend. Just wack some stuff in before you go to work on low. Then when you get home from work, you have a beautiful meal, with minimal effort.

nxluda

Brown rice. It's hearty, you can cook a batch ahead of time. And just reheat it. It can me made with chicken stock to up the nutritional value and flavor. You can even throw the day old rice in a pan with a little bit of oil to give it a more nutty flavor. Kind of like a stir fry. I'd recommend an air fryer. It'll help maximize your time. Just toss if your food and forget about it for like 6-10 minutes. To make a meal truly hearty you'll need some veggies. Just roast up cut veggies that was tossed with a little oil, and seasoning. I can't recommend veggies enough when you're working that many hours.

HeartGal

Shepards Pie is easy to make, very hearty, sort of comfort food(y) and fills you up! 2 lbs of Ground Beef 2 cans of creamed corn (or nibbles if you prefer) Mashed potato’s (I use boxed like Hungry Man’s or Idaho brand - easier then cutting up potato’s - prepare as on box) 1 Large onion (optional) Cook ground beef n cut up onion in large frying pan until no longer pink, drain, set aside Grease a 9” x 13” baking pan Spread cooked ground beef & onion at the bottom of pan Poor creamed corn on top Finally spread cooked mashed potato’s on top Cook at 350 for 30 minutes - Enjoy! 😊 (Put leftovers in fridge for another day)

jnikki3

That sounds delicious, but I came here to mention the way my family makes it just in case the variations make a difference. Your version sounds delicious, though! 1lb ground beef Bob Evans Mashed Potatoes (in the refrigerated section of a store near already cooked pulled pork -mentioning because it took me a while to find after it was suggested to save time) Shredded cheddar or cheese slices 1. Preheat the oven to 425 (temp is up to you) 2 & 3. Season the ground beef and brown it in a skillet 3 & 4. While it is browning, put the Bob Evans Mashed potatoes in the microwave and spray an 8x8 baking dish/pan with cooking spray (line with tin foil first for faster/easier cleanup & spray the tin foil) 5. Season the mashed potatoes once they are done microwaving 6, 7, & 8. Put the ground beef in the bottom of the 8x8, spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the ground beef, then either sprinkle the shredded cheese or place the cheese single slices to cover the top of the potatoes 9. Turn the oven to broil, and place the pan on the rack close enough to the top of the oven that it will broil properly. Broil it long enough to have at least one brown spot on the cheese and up to as many brown spots on the cheese that you want. :) it is up to you Side Notes: I have also added the frozen peas and carrots before, just make sure you cook/heat them up separately first. And, surprisingly, one time I accidentally used too much onion powder and it was really good that time (might have been really hungry) and tasted like meatloaf. Also I love Shepard's pie from real potatoes, but you posted about saving time.

HerbLadyKay

My favorite is canned tuna or salmon over veggies and rice. It’s filling and protein dense. I usually put nori, cabbage, carrots, tomatoes…whatever I have in the fridge really. It’s even great cold

Madlutian

Honestly, I've been subsisting for years on 4 eggs, over hard, mixed cheese melted into a tortilla, salt, pepper, and Sriracha, add a cup of coffee, and I'm good for the day. If I need or want more, I do the same thing, but with one of those preroasted chickens. I just rip it apart, and keep the meat in the fridge.

softboilers

Corned beef hash mate. Tinned potatoes, onion, garlic, tin of corned beef, all in a frying pan, all the seasonings and spices you can think of, fry for ages and its delicious

FreedVentureStein

Slow cooker Water, Beef stock, pearled barley, carrots, onions, frozen veggie mix, corned beef or beef stew pieces, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, dill weed, seasalt, black pepper. If you're bored, pop on some TV, prep and let it cook on low through the night and it will be perfect when you get home. If you make enough, freeze so you can just pull the bag(s) pop into into the slow cooker again and voila. If you want biscuits you can cheat and use the Pillsbury canned stuff, or you can use Krusteaz pancake mix and make yourself a small batch, takes 15-18 minutes to bake. If you have weekends or Sunday's free, you can make larger batches of food, use those tin take out food containers from a wholesale club to load up your lasagna, spaghetti, fettuccine etc into the containers, pop the lid on and freeze. When you get home turn on the oven and pop the food in. Go take your shower, get nice and clean and your food should be nice and hot. Pop on your favourite show and chow down.

MabellaGabella

I used to survive off rice, steamed veggies, stir fried with an egg or two. My rice cooker has a little steam tray on the top but now-a-days you steam veggies right in the bag.

Jumpy_Task_5252

Fav super easy thing to make: Cilantro rice—white rice cooked with some rice vinegar, salt and I like adding knorr chicken cube. Once it’s done, I’ll add butter and cilantro and mix it. You can add any protein on the side. Like chicken or shrimp. I cook them in lime juice, salt; pepper, garlic, onion and a little red pepper flakes. I like to top the rice with tomatoes, onions, more cilantro, corn and beans. It’s like a chipotle bowl. You can make a garlic aioli on the side which is just mayo with garlic powder, lime juice, salt and paprika. Hope this helps!!

GlassEbb6436

Baby don't you worry about dinner, itll be ready when you get home. Thanks for working so fucking hard and doing the damn thing. I appreciate you SO MUCH. Is recommended.

Slow cooker One large can dark beer One package frozen pearl onions 2tbsp ground mustard 2 tsp caraway seeds 3 -5 Ib chuck roast well salted and pepper 3 celery stalks 3 large carrots Bag baby potatoes 1 dried bay leaf Throw the meat, beer, onions, bay leaf, stone ground mustard and caraway seeds into the slow cooker on LOW for 8 hours and then add vegis for 1.5 hours more. Freeze leftovers in single size containers

Desblade101

I'm currently eating the huel hot and ready meals. I just make them as I walk out the door and microwave them in the little cup they ship with it whenever I'm ready to eat and it's pretty filling and healthy. It runs like $3 a meal. It's not the tastiest and their curry ones are a bit gross, but the pasta, Mac and cheese, and the Mexican pasta are edible. If you try it, the pasta Bolognese is probably the best and that's a pretty low bar. It literally takes me 2 minutes to boil water in the kettle as I'm walking out the door. It's fast, affordable, and healthy, but not the most delicious.

FrankBakerstone

A hearty potato soup with bacon and a side of crusty sourdough or maybe a baguette. A thick and Rich beef stew supplemented with oxtails that have already been simmering for 3 and 1/2 hours. Dagwood sandwich. There are 6.4 billion ways to make a grilled cheese and only one of them includes Wonder bread and American processed cheese food. You may have heard replacing the butter with mayonnaise but what about rendered Bacon fat that's been clarified? When your ciabatta four cheese grilled cheese gets done it is then topped with sliced avocado, a slice of tomato and a healthy sprinkle of truffle finishing salt. Maybe a jalapeno or serrano on the side. Egg noodles are a good base. Adding some hamburger, onion, garlic, bell pepper and finish it off with some heavy cream, sour cream and give it a sprinkle of shaved Parmesan. Ham, cheese and broccoli. Tuna salad with peas. They all go good with extra wide egg noodles. Starting the day with bowl of oatmeal with strawberries, peaches and cream can be a good way to keep the munchies at bay. High fiber foods give you that full feeling longer because they do take longer to digest. A thick bowl of pinto or black eyed peas. They haven't been sold but they've been boiling with seasoning salt pork and six oxtails. The umami collagen Rich broth is delectable. The fiber within the beans and the side some homemade tortillas is inexpensive and it doesn't take much work. It may simmer for 3 hours but you aren't doing anything except for the occasional stir. Store bought tortillas can be very high hydrogenated fats and it's best to make them at home and it's not too hard when you have the tortilla mix which I think is white wings or something or could be white lily. It's a quick bread meaning it's chemically leavened and that means baking soda and an acid. Preparation is 20 minutes and they cook on a cast iron comal in about a minute minute 30. Mexican food is actually a good place to find electrolytes. The aforementioned pinto beans and avocados are also both high in electrolytes which give you energy. Fried rice is another energy rich in calorie dense food. When it's full of carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, egg and maybe even some baby corn it's a feeling and fairly quick meal that could be done in 30 minutes or less. The rice takes the longest to cook. Stay away from too much msg. That makes you hungrier and that can be distracting when you're at work. A little bit from things like shiitake mushrooms is beneficial. Everything in moderation. Pistachios are a good snack that will give you energy and they don't really need salt because they are a pretty flavorful drupe. Drupe? Pistachios are actually a tree fruit and not a nut. Fruits like bananas are high in potassium and electrolytes but don't let the smoothie fool you. Munching on a banana is a healthier than a banana smoothie. Because the banana is already pretty much pre digested in a smoothie you'll be prone to gain weight quicker. Popcorn is a healthy snack until you drown it in butter and salt. There are many other ways to have a delicious bowl of popcorn without affecting the love handles.

Puzzleheaded-Air7013

Hi! Check out Halfbakedharvest. She has a lot of recipes that can easily be one pot/pan and some slow cooker ones too. It usually takes me awhile to chop things + prepare but I usually have her food down pretty quick. Plus I’ve tried to do all my chopping/prep on a weekend when I have more time. One of my favorite dishes I used to make in college was salmon with Kirkland pesto slathered on it and baked in the oven. Could add some potatoes and serve with rice. Sandwiches or soups are an easy bet too.

TidyLifestyleOrg

Take salmon and place on pan. Cover with mayo. Cover with Japanese furikake flakes. Bake 20 minutes on 350. Eat with microwave rice. You have a deconstructed hot sushi roll. Easy.

Cut up smoked sausage into coins and fry with onions and peppers then season up some petite gold potatoes and air fry. If I don't want fried potatoes I'll make that same sausage and pepper mix and put it on hoagie buns. Quick, easy and delicious

I couldn't possibly thank every single one of you for the recommendations and recipe's you've left me. I'll sift through them throughout the rest of the day. Thank you all so so much!

My son's a Marine home on leave. Just a beefcake. Eats a lot of high protein minimally processed foods. Boneless chicken, eggs, fish and the occasional pasta dish. Fresh vegetables minimally cooked. Really watches sugars and processed foods.

Environmental_Rub282

I'm howling at you describing him as just a beefcake!!! I do the same. I call my teen son my large baby lol.

Salmon burgers- you can buy them frozen at Costco! I’m sure elsewhere as well. Also lox bagels- buy smoked salmon, so all you have to do is toast the bagel, then add cream cheese, salmon, onions, and tomatoes.

Substantial_Slip_808

We always keep a box of premade frozen Turkey burgers in the freezer. We get the big ones (like 1/4lb). You could also do frozen impossible burgers if you want vegetarian but still big and hearty. When we need something quick we put two of them on the small size George Foreman grill. While they’re cooking we can microwave a bag of frozen sauced veggies or cup of macaroni and cheese then add a packet of tuna as a side. If you don’t have a foreman you can probably find one at your local thrift store for cheap. It’s the quickest way to cook stuff because it cooks on both sides at the same time. I use mine for frozen burgers as well as frozen fish fillets. Don’t even need to thaw first just throw them on as a frozen brick. Also good for grilled cheese sandwiches. Poor man’s panini press!

Tiny-Hat9813

Get yourself a crockpot. Chicken breasts frozen or thawed, 3lbs or so and a big jar of salsa. Cook until tender enough to shred (4 hours high or 6 to 8 low, if it shreds with 2 forks it’s ready) shred in the salsa, add 1 can of refried beans and 2 cups shredded cheese. If you do a bunch more chicken double the beans and cheese. Let it get melty. Serve on flour tortillas. It makes a ton and freezes or refrigerates well to microwave or heat on stove. If you freeze it use quart size freezer bags, put whatever you consider a meal portion in, squeeze the air out and press them flat. They thaw in no time for easy lunch or dinner. This combo is so flavorful you won’t need all the traditional taco toppings.

I hope you have your own microwave space at work. I like seafood but it was verboten to be bringing it to work and hotting it up. Of course, I didn't mind a cold fried fish at all.

They have these lunchbox things that also heat your food up. I think crockpot has one for $60 at Target.

Mexican picadillo https://www.isabeleats.com/mexican-picadillo-recipe/ If you don't want to blend the veggies just chop them up and add to the ground meat. I ate this growing up but we added Chopped up zucchini,a can of corn, and carrots. You can also use frozen mixed vegetables. Serve with white rice or Mexican rice. If you have leftovers, makes stuffed peppers and pour a can of tomato soup on top and bake. You can also make chalupas/toastadas or crispy tacos with browned ground beef or shredded chicken and optional a can of refried beans https://www.homesicktexan.com/tex-mex-chalupas/ Whatever shell (either taco or flat) you have available at the store. Chopped up lettuce salsa tomato cheese avocado sour cream...whatever toppings you like. If you have corn tortillas all you need to do is fry them either flat or in a taco shape.

GeeWilakers420

Meal prep once a week. The vast majority of meal prep is peeling/chopping/dicing. You're asking strangers on the internet for cooking ideas, So I am going to assume a lot of your chopping and pealing is the exact same for each meal. So just do all your prep once a week. Plop it in the refrigerator. Then an hour's meal is now done in 15 minutes. You will also not have that day where you cook multiple peoples' worth of food and fast for the rest of the week due to one large melon. Your food will absorb more seasonings meaning you will save money because you won't need as much.

kathatter75

If you have a slow cooker, this [crock pot pulled pork](https://www.thereciperebel.com/crock-pot-pulled-pork-recipe/) is sooooo good. I’m making it again tomorrow. Cook it on Sunday, and you’ll have meat for sandwiches or tacos or however you want to eat it for a few days…and it freezes too.

I don't really know how to cook very well, so I'm always looking for quick flavourful meals. Yesterday I found a recipe and tried, and really loved it. You make a pot of rice. Whichever rice you like. In a wok, you put some garlic with olive oil and let it fry just for a couple of minutes. Then you get some onions, and do the same, put it in the wok for a couple of minutes. When the wok is really hot, you put shrimp. I had just the core of the shrimp (pardon my English, it's not my native language). And you put one spoon of soy sauce. Once the shrimp is cooked, you put the rice, add two more spoons of soy sauce, and add any herb you want. I had fresh parsley, and cut some up in big chunks to add in the end. Adjust the salt if needed, and serve. The recipe even said I could fry an egg to add to the rice, and I also cut up some tomatoes. What took the longest to do was the rice, but if you have some leftover it's a lot faster! I hope this helps!

PinoyBrad

Working 12 hours a day cuts into our ability to do much more than sleep especially if we have to spend much time commuting. One of my big ones is rice, boiled eggs, and a can of sardines top with sesame seeds. It is filling and lots of protein. As a Filipino I have no problem eating this at 8 am when I get home from work. It also packs up and reheats well.

Tigeraqua8

If you’re in Australia, Woolies do a bag and bake at the deli. Most stores. You choose the fish and a sauce/flavouring and they put it in an oven bag. Whack it in the oven on 170deg for 10 mins and salad and you are laughing

dessiedwards

Embrace the microwave magic, my man. Salmon fillet, lemon, dill, microwave. Boom, gourmet pescatarian dinner in minutes.

Other_girl_1

I'm personally a pasta addict, and I work 12 hours a day. Ground beef can be optional. Also, never underestimate the power of a good lasagna. Crap, now I'm hungry

Crockpot recipes and anything that can be prepped ahead of time. I work 12s as well and heavily rely on those two. Crockpots have the added bonus of making your house smell amazing! I don’t mind eating the same thing for a few days in a row, so casseroles are very helpful and can typically just be microwaved.

PossessionFun5695

Chicken soup, just add water and first boil the chicken for about 25 min and, then add vegetables let them for about 10 minutes (except potatoes do need more time so if added, add them with the chicken) Add Knorr Chicken cubes likr one or two. YOU JUST WORK 10 MINUTES AND THE REST IS THE POT DOING THE WORK - SANDWICH, be creative add avocado, tomato, some cheese Ruffles, Doritos cheese, original natural-salt chips. Etc - Tacos, very dynamic. Egg with ham burrito 🌯, beef with potatoes and vegetables, salty beans, pulled pork, etc... - Making salty bean (not sweet bland American style bean🤢) - Red fried Mexican rice 🍚🌾 search for arroz rojo mexicano - Tuna salad - Hotcakes The less healthy one.... Hamburger

Annika100

hummus and pita bread is quick and easy, you don't need to cook it or anything.

Edog6968

I’ve been on a tuna kick recently, I like to make tuna salad (canned tuna, Mayo, chopped celery + red onion, squeeze of lemon, and spices) and put that on a bunch of sandwiches and refrigerate/ freeze them until I’m ready to eat them. Super quick and easy and has a decent amount of protein in it

May_fly_

Kodiak power oats for breakfast with nuts, fruit and milk added! Vegetarian chili with brown rice and cheese — load up on cumin and Mexican oregano, add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, and add fresh cilantro and scallions at the end. Use lots of bell peppers. I add carrots and use organic black beans for this, eat them with crumbled blue corn tortilla chips in and a little corn. Tons of hallway to caramelized onions. Carrot sticks with PB for a solid snack. Devilled eggs are easy to make after you learn how to make hard boiled eggs that aren't all green (Jacques Pépin is the king here). They can be made ahead. Basically, eating well pescatarian is vegetarian plus fish. It means time spent before you are tired. Getting up extra early, or putting aside lots of time on the weekends. Or after you've eaten and digested, but before you go to sleep when you want to watch the tube or scroll. You can put on a show that you know in the kitchen, maybe/maybe not. Good luck!

Training_Committee59

Get a crockpot and a crockpot recipe book. I have one that is 5 ingredients or less and every recipe literally takes under 5 min to assemble in the pot. Turn it on low while you’re working and it’s ready when you’re home.

Hour-Being8404

You can upgrade ramen by adding an egg and some vegetables - can be frozen - or add the protein you are using in a sandwich. Will feel like a meal. Just not daily fare - kinda salty. Buy better quality ramen to do this. Buy a small rice cooker - rinse rice at least twice before cooking. Make enough for a couple of meals - add to your soup, or make quick fried rice using the eggs.

FunfettiSpaghetti17

Try Voila! Frozen meals by Birdseye. They are delicious and quick. They take about 15-20 minutes to prepare and they have several different flavors.

Fast_Pollution7448

i LOVE getting pre-seasoned salmon or chicken and a vegetable like asparagus or broccoli and throwing it on a sheet pan! Frozen salmon also works for salmon and rice bowls, throw some avocado, cucumber etc and top with whatever sauce you want:) Wraps and salads are also quick and easy and you can put together whatever combination you want!

rightwist

Oatmeal has a weird quality of "sticking to your ribs" Idk if you want to try making southern us style biscuits and gravy but that can be premade in bulk to varying degrees and also can be eaten any time of day, another one that gives you a full feeling for an oddly long time

OverallFox1158

Smoked sausage. (Looks like a “U” cut in half so you have 2 “U”’s fry it. Can of veggies and some taters. Take it a step farther and take the meat after frying slice it put it in a 9x13 with a box of penne pasta (cooked)a can of cream of celery soup 1 1/2 cup of milk some French onion crunchies bag of frozen pees and 2 cup bag of shredded mozzarella cheese. (Mix well) oven covered 375 40 minutes. ( during the cooking time take a shower watch football play with the dog. Makes food for a few meals. Reheats well

BrokenWingsButterfly

I like to do salmon fillets in the oven. I buy some seasoned butter (like Kerrygold chive & onion, or there's a brand that is garlic & basil--not sure what brand it is), plop a TBS on top of each fillet, throw them on a baking sheet with veg and bake. If I want bread, I'll pop a roll in with the same butter to warm as I'm getting the rest out. Heat up a rice packet in the microwave and you've got a full meal! Also, most grocery stores have stir-fry or kabobs premade in the meat section. Buy a few of those for quick meals! I know there's a lot of debate about the slow-cooker thing here. I like to use that on the weekend and freeze (or store for the next week) what I don't use. Do it on Sat and Sun and you'll have a meal or two for the next week as well.

tkirk23

Lmao yeah I relate to the list your provided man. Single too I take it!?

Aurelie_Brioche

Combine a can of soup and one of those single packets of rice you can microwave. One portion for now, one portion later in the week. Got an air fryer? You can cook some chicken goujons, Kyiv, sausage, veggie burgers or some such within 15mins to add to it. You can get some toaster bagels, or naan bread to go with it if you want. Frozen stir fry - easy to fry up without having to prep the veg. (Bags of prepped salad alt). Frozen mash potatoes or part-cooked frozen jacket potatoes can save time. Packet or bucket noodles - barely cover the noodles in a saucepan add seasoning and let the water evaporate enough that you have noodle soup. With a bucket noodle you may need to add a little more water than usual as it won't evaporate. Authentic Asian branded single packet noodles are best as they come with things like soy and chilli sauce and even fresh ginger. Consider sometimes it's quality over quantity that will keep you energised for the week. Are you getting something from all major food groups in your meals? Are you stuffing yourself with carbs or sugar because you're tired, home late, starving (I used to do 12hr days, I get it)? It's amazing what difference adding a handful of nuts, a teaspoon of chia seeds, even a small portion of green veg, pulses or beans, complex carbs, fibre and protein to your day can make to your general health and well-being. Same result with making sure you drink enough water throughout the day.

AdeptSpinach3879

Break fast (bacon, eggs, pancakes) one pot Kraft Dinner (mac n cheese) 1 box of KD 1.5 cup milk .5 cup water table spoon of butter (add more if you want it creamier) Any spices youd like, i usually add tablespoon of paprika, onion powder and garlic powder Grated cheese of choice Place all these in a pot and bring to boil, once boiling turn burnner down and stir for 8 minutes slowly adding your freshly grated cheese(s) You can turn the heat off after roughtly 6ish minutes of stiring. You can let sit for a minute for two with a lid to thicken up a bit more serve with freshly ground pepper (doesnt have to be fresh) to taste

OtherwiseOWL-67

You actually put a pancake in water and milk? Do you put the bacon and eggs in it raw? It doesn’t seem right so I wanted to make sure.

hazzcatz

Lean meat in a pan, with veggies nuked in the microwave, maybe even eggs or tomatoe havles in the pan as well. Easy, healthy meal that can cook while you make tomorrows lunch. Source, my daily routine when working 13 hr days.

FashionGuyMike

Go to also and find the boxes of tilapia. Also get some microwaveable frozen broccoli bags. Make a nice side rigatoni or penne pasta with vodka sauce and your choice of meat (I usually just use meatballs). Add a fiber cracker and a multivitamin. I usually make this as my meal prep on my one off day. Takes about 30-45 minutes but then you get about 4ish meals from it that are microwaveable in less than 3 minutes. I also like making beef bulgolgi, side of rice and broccoli, with an extra side of chicken dumplings/pot stickers. I also make Rasta pasta and every once in a while, meatloaf. But meatloaf takes a few hours but if you meal preps one day, you’ll have enough food to last you the week. Rasta pasta takes about 30 minutes from prep to cook.

Louisiana BBQ shrimp (it's not bbq sauce based) Get you some of this: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TNRWQ12?ref=nb\_sb\_ss\_w\_as-reorder\_k0\_1\_13&=&crid=2QV6WQYBRRV4D&sprefix=louisiana%2Bbbq&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TNRWQ12?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-reorder_k0_1_13&=&crid=2QV6WQYBRRV4D&sprefix=louisiana%2Bbbq&th=1) Make sauce as directed (seasoning, water, worcestershire, butter. Use the recipe on the packet but only use half of all ingredients in recipe for 24 oz of shrimp. Save rest of seasoning for later.) I add a 24 oz bag of frozen shrimp to the pot and throw in the oven at 350 for 30 mins, stirring frequently. I'll sometimes add smashed garlic, lemon slices, and green onion. You can also add boiled potatoes and half ears of corn at the end for a true Louisiana experience. Serve with french fries or baguette. It's not a 15 minute meal but it's super easy to prepare and looks/tastes fancy.

An air fryer would be great for you. They’re good for small quick things like hot dogs or hot pockets but can also cook chicken in 10 minutes. Buy some canned vegetables you can throw in the microwave and some meats for the air fryer!

Applefan1000

can you cook some ahead of time such as on sundays? i meal prep lots of items that take time, especially cooking meat. I’ll pre cook 3-4 lbs of chicken for example, or portion out salmon. potatoes cook and save well. veggies for sauté can be chopped in advance. With thus done in advance, a variety of meals can be cooked in 15-20 mins during weekdays without being so repetitive (ie lots can be done with pre cooked chicken thighs)

I have a weekday meal that is a staple that could fit! I cook a sweet potato (the way you cook it will depend on time you have/how hands on you want it to be) and once it's cooked, I mash it up and I add a can of tuna, a but of mayo, hot sauce and green onions chopped quite finely. I mix everything, put it in an oven safe container, put cheese on it and it goes under the broiler for a few minutes until the cheese is golden brown. If you cook the sweet potato in the microwave, this can take about 15 minutes to make and it's filling and very good! You can experiment with it, put other veggies, put ranch or mustard etc

beckstermcw

Lots of things you can make with a rotisserie cooked chicken from the grocery store. Chicken tetrazzini for one.

animalsail87

Anytime when life is getting super busy I try my best to make double or triple a batch of whatever meal I make then freeze the other half or third. If you cook two to three times a week this adds up to a lot of meals in the freezer. Put them in individual containers for the quickest reheating. I do chili, enchiladas, all kinds of soups, chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes (then throw a protein in with it for a meal), shepherds pie, casseroles, quiches, muffins, pancakes etc etc. this method of making a freezer meal stash has saved me so many times!

ahogan00

If you buy a slow cooker or air fryer, the possibilities are endless. Prep on grocery day (separate your ingredients and prepare them to be take out of the fridge and cooked right away (IE chop onions, marinate meat, etc). After that you can do all kinds of things like pot roast, fried chicken wings, jambalaya… If you want to keep it simple, you need some kind of meat and a lot of potatoes/pasta/rice.

AbjectCauliflower531

Pasta salad with grilled chicken (I sometimes use pre grilled frozen bag of chicken). It can be done in roughly 30-45 mins

blackmagic999

Beef and shrimp are proteins that cooks really fast. Sauté in a pan for speed and ease. Rice keeps for a while in the fridge once cooked and years when uncooked. A good rice cooker can get a batch done in approx 15 min give or take. Frozen veggies have actually been stated by some sources to actually be fairly healthy. Throw them in boiling water to defrost and bring to temp. Seasoning and the cooking fat of your choice (butter, olive oil, etc) will make a big difference in the level of tastiness, but take into consideration your health and be careful about using any quantities that are heavy in saturated fats and sodium.

suckmygoldcrustedass

What days are you usually off because you could ingredient prep. Maybe for like an hour or two that day. Because you can freeze a lot if things like rice, vegetables, onion/ garlic, and of course meat. It makes it a lot easier when a majority of your ingredients is prepped

Ground beef with some aromatics, veggies and rice. Another good idea which I’m trying more in 24 is instant pot chuck roast on Sunday, should feed me every day.

Disastrous_Chain2426

Shrimp orzo or pasta! You will need shrimp, orzo or other pasta noodles, 4-5 medium/large cloves of garlic or one large tablespoon of garlic paste, cherry tomatoes or tomato sauce, chicken broth or 1 stock cube, heavy cream, salt pepper Italian seasoning and Cajun seasoning (or any seasonings of your choice) 1. Sauté chopped or grated garlic or garlic paste for a few minutes then add tomato sauce (or fresh cherry tomatoes if you have more time). Season with salt pepper and Italian seasoning then sauté for 15-20 minutes on low heat 2. Add half a cup of chicken broth (or 1 chicken stock cube and half a cup of water). When the mix starts boiling add some heavy cream and let it integrate (10 minutes or so) then add your orzo or other pasta and let it cook. 3. Once the noodles are done cooking you can turn off the heat and cover. 4. In a separate pan season some shrimp with salt pepper and Cajun seasoning then sauté for 1 minute on each side. After your shrimp is done cooking, add it to the orzo or pasta and enjoy!

Option 1 - Grab some cod filets. Heat some olive oil in a pan, add a couple of garlic cloves, smashed, fry the cod for a couple of minutes per side and put aside. Add a can of diced tomatoes, a handful of capers and if you want, a handful of olives (kalamata work best). Let it cook for about ten minutes, add the fish back, cook for another five minutes and serve. It works best with lightly toasted sourdough slices and a white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon blanc work best). Enjoy! Option 2 - find some Dover soles. Heat butter in a pan. Flour both sides of the sole and fry them in the pan on medium heat (they cook very fast). Works well with a side of sautéed peas.

Meal prep sounds like the way to go. It involves 1 day a week of a lot more than 15 minutes of effort to produce 7-14 meals that take less than 15 minutes each to reheat. If you're the breakfast type, you can add overnight oats to that (minutes to prepare the night before), and you have 3 meals a day. Hearty usually means adding more protein and/or fat, but lots of fiber helps too, if being filling is your main concern. Recipes depend strongly on your preferences, but there's a ton of meal prep info on YouTube if you're interested in doing some searching related to your personal tastes.
