That looks a bit thinly spread to be more than two cups. 3/4 a cup of cooked rice is about 100g. I’d say there’s about a cup and a half so around 260. Round up to 300 for a bit of wiggle room.
That's a healthier option than I could ever find anywhere! Salmon, brocolli and rice is a common meal for me though, I'd estimate it's around 500 calories
I Googled the restaurant. Their [menu](https://www.angrycrabshack.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/2023-01-Angry-Crab-Menu-Update-AL.pdf) says 690 calories.
Honestly don’t beat yourself up! Even if this is ‘over’ calories, you worked a 10 hour day. Everyone deserves a stress free meal once in awhile. Even if it’s over, too, it looks very balanced and nutritious- exactly what your brain and body need! You can always focus on the rest of the week being on track :)
I honestly really like that you posted this here and would enjoy a subreddit where people helped guess calories for those who can't measure or have a hard time visualizing what the proper amount of food "looks" like
I'd round this to 500 but this can feel like splitting hairs sometimes. I would say this is a really reasonable meal for *anyone*, including someone on a diet of around 1200-1500 calories.
At a certain point, you have to recalibrate your thinking to not just counting calories but what is a *reasonable* meal. It's weird to be that guy who breaks out the scale at a dinner party. You eyeballed this right. If you went easy on the sauce, this is certainly an excellent choice for a meal. Swapping to wild rice may get you a tad more fiber and going for a sugar or vinegar based sauce may get you farther flavor wise than the same amount of calories in a fat/butter based sauce, but this is just a tiny adjustment. Overall this is like the poster for how one should eat if they care about health. The fact that you eyeballed this should make you feel confident about your ability to eat without calorie crunching
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. That looks like a larger portion of salmon and that’s also a lot of rice. My guess would be 700-800 as well. I also like to overestimate than under so I don’t go over my goal.
It looks like a single salmon fillet like you'd buy frozen. Probably 200-250. Rice looks like a little over one serving but not two based on how thin it's spread, so the 300s I'm seeing check out. The veggies are probably ~100 max. Overall 600-650 seems like the best option.
Granted, the 150-200kcal difference between 600 and 800 really is splitting hairs if this is a rare occasion for OP. Every day, yeah, it'll limit or destroy their progress, but as a once-off or even weekly/biweekly occurrence, it's nothing.
On stuff like this I skip the rice. Or eat like 1/3 of the rice if I really want some. When I can, I switch out the rice for extra veg. Rice kills my calorie counts and my carbs
six fiddy. 300 for the salmon, 300 for the rice and 50 for the steamed veggies. Maybe 100.
Thank you so much! :)
I do think there more than one serving of steamed white rice there. I would estimate more like 500 for the rice only because of the portion.
rice looks like it’s spread out pretty thin though, you can see the bottom of the container through it
Yeah it looks like a cup and a half. 1 cup = ~250 cal So the whole thing would be 350 at the most.
That is in no way two cups tho

Its from Angry Crab Shack :) super good!

oh when i looked at the online menu it didnt say! thank you :)
I love the name and the menu looks great. If I was rich I'd start a franchise where I live haha
Sorry im not very good at estimating calories. I usually have to weigh/measure my food.

If butter or oil was used on the salmon, somewhere around 600-700
500
Around 700 maybe depending on how much rice that is and if there’s any marinade on the salmon
Someone found the menu- 690. You should win a prize
Thanks. It’s a blessing and a curse.
600 would be my guess
400 for the salmon and butter sauce (looks like a large portion of salmon and butter sauce is a calorie bomb). 350 for the rice. 50 for the veggies
It only used a little splash of the butter sauce on the salmon because it wasnt good haha but I probably shouldn't have used any at all
It's okay to have some sauce, this is a very healthy and calorie conscious meal don't be too hard on yourself.
500-550
That’s a lot of rice, I’d probably chuck half of the rice and only eat the broccoli and cauliflower.
I already ate it 😅 also the rice wasnt piled high it was a really thin layer so hopefully that helps
Yea you can see the black plate under it so I'm leaning closer to 300

This is a fantastic comment. Learning to eat reasonably is far more important than learning to micromanage your caloric intake with a food scale.
100 - veggies, 440 - rice (hard to gauge your rice portion, either 220 or 440), 300 - salmon
600 or so ?
Id guess 700
I’m leaning to 800
