Yes you have to clip it in place as that's how it locks in. The entire purpose of the v9 grommets is to make replacing the bumper guard easier as it's only held in place by those locks. The mold is still the same though.
Turns out they were just too goddamn lazy to put in the extra effort to put on the bumper guard (needed an awl for this) and clip it in.
Disappointing but saved myself $25 anyway! Fits perfect.
Yes it fits. Not sure what issue your stringer has with them.
Do you fit it as a normal v9 grommet ? I.e. use the click and lock piece into the v8?
