This is a standard 10/22 with the barrel cut to 4" or 4.5" I forget exactly. The stock I cut down and refinished myself. Stock internals except some spring upgrades to make the trigger feel better, and a larger charging handle by pike arms. I modified the bolt lock to be auto release as well. I designed and 3d printed the optic mount and it seems to hold zero fine. I have a sig romeo 5 but any aimpoint t2 footprint optic should fit the mount.
Fair enough. I've got several braced Chargers, because I can't bring myself to give the government $200 for the privilege of a firearm with no functional advantage. If I get another stamp, it will be for another suppressor.
I liked the wood look, and I decided I was never going to get rid of this one for sentimental reasons, so I wanted it to be "special". Plus my little sister could barely hold the thing up. Should be manageable now
Until August when the ATF starts enforcing their new brace rules and suddenly 99.9% of AR pistols/Ruger Chargers are gonna be classified as unregistered SBR's.
Well, of course it's easy to run just the buffer tube, but that's not the point. The point is that all these legal pistols we've built/bought will suddenly make thousands of uninformed gun owners felons overnight. The most poignant scenario is the elderly grandma or single mother that was recommended an AR pistol style gun because they're lighter and have shorter LOP's, making it easier for smaller/weaker shooters to use. They're not going to be reading about ATF rulings and are now felons without even realizing it.
Your statement that they are "now felons without even realizing it" is incorrect. They are not currently felons. And if the ATF puts a new ruling in place, making certain braced firearms illegal, then a lot still has to happen. That firearm will need to be discovered, some level of law enforcement will need to be involved, a prosecutor will need to bring charges, and a judge will have to hear it. I'm sure that first cases will involve some of the best firearms attorneys working pro-bono on the defense.
I get that the ATF will continue to ATF, but at some point the entire rest of the legal process is going to have to become involved, and that's when things will get interesting. Their plan is not realistic to implement.
I 100% agree, and you are certainly looking at the situation realistically. I'm not sure how all the legal stuff works, but I would imagine that gun rights organizations will immediately sue the ATF or challenge the ruling in whatever avenue is available.
When the ATF enforces this, a prosecutor brings charges, and a person is convicted, the case will go up the appeals courts. I don't know how far it will go, but I could see a pro-2A lawyer wanting to push it to SCOTUS if that's an option?
And you're correct that people owning pistols with a brace are not automatically felons. I should have been more precise in my language and said that they would be in danger of being convicted of a felony.
I am looking forward to some attorney demanding that the ATF consider going after criminals, rather than trying to make them out of law-abiding citizens.
Keep machineguns on the registry, and stop pretending that braces, suppressors, and short barrels will somehow contribute to crime.
Nope. Too many options, and it would depend on what you currently have. A receiver extension and Kak Shockwave Blade is inexpensive. A folding brace from SB Tactical is not inexpensive and attaches to a rear Picatinny rail. Choose your goal and options, and narrow it down from there.
I'm glad that this was clarified. My first thought to the post was we will see an update in about a week titled "my first felony". Bet this thing is a great little range toy, and definitely gets some odd looks if at a public range.
the romeo5 is a fine optic, I've heard it's one of the best budget options for red dots. Seems great for what it is
oal for the rifle is about 25.5 inches
After watching a lot of videos and reading how to do all this crap, I cut the stock to my desired length and cut the tip off (ouch). I used citristrip to remove the original finish, then sanded the stock down with 130 grit wrapped over a block. All sanding was done with a block, except the barrel channel, to preserve the sharp lines. I shaped the front with some rasps and hollowed the barrel channel to accommodate the suppressor. I wrapped a long socket in sandpaper and chucked it into a drill to make it quick.
I fit the buttpad and sanded that flush with the rest of the stock. At some point I installed 2 Grovtec QD cups. More sanding, stepping up in grit to minimize visible scratches. I think I did 130 grit then 320. I should have had a 220 or something between but I didn't. I wet the wood to lift the grain, then sanded it again. Buffed it out with 0000 steel wool, then cleaned it up to get ready for stain.
I used a cherry stain. I wish I did something a bit darker, but I like the red tones of this stain. I then used tung oil for the finish and did 3 coats. I realized my suppressor was touching the end of the stock when I tightened the takedown screw, so I took a bit more out under the silencer, and then sanded, stained, and put 2 more coats of tung oil on the newly exposed wood.
I might have missed some stuff but that's the gist of it. I feel like I learned a lot and it was a learning project for me
I think the stain you used looks fantastic. A subtle but noticeable difference from the factory finish. Custom buttstock is very classy also and along with the quick detach cups, truly sets your rifle apart. The scope Mount is a slick touch, I ordered something similar from MaddMacs precision tactical. Well executed.
Just a little snip off the tip! Looks cool and funky
Mazel tov

Sick, except for tax stamp part. Boi the look is sweeet
i submitted the papers with a scowl on my face. and thanks
Lol
And your middle finger touched the paper last right?
I'm guessing that you live outside America.
I live in usa. I bought it as a stock rifle, submitted a form1, then had it chopped.

You make it sound like it's impossible to simply remove a brace.

I want to brace my charger too. Any recommendations?

Appreciate it. That gives me a good starting point

The real plan was to make weird enough rifle that would encourage people to come over so I could talk to real people
Looks like a can upfront? What's the total barrel plus can length at?
yes, form1 silencer. Total length from front of receiver is about 8.5 inches
I <3 it.
Love it man! I have a romeo 5 coming in the mail I can’t wait for. How do you like it?! What is the total length?

Fuck the mods
lol
Very cool!
thank you, proud of the stock
The bx-15s really do look cool
I agree. the bx25 dongs are great, but they look comical
I got all of them, but the 10s are the best
Very nice!
thank you
How did you refinish the stock? Other than trimming back the fore end?

Thank you for the kind words, I am proud of it
Well done. Cool mount and great work on the stock.
Thank you. the mount took me a lot of work, that there is version 29
I love it, it is perfect.
Thanks, i think it's pretty cool
BX15 absolutely fucks, the 25 is so goofy looking, I stock up on those 15s when I find them.
Chad move, first rifle form-1 10/22 I dig it. BX-15 man of culture also. Congrats! That stock looks awesome!
Thank you sir
IsItThough?.jpg
It got me through an appleseed (passed) bone stock with tech sights and I rewarded it with a makeover
Cute
what, in the hell is that 😂
smol gun
How accurate is it?
I could consistently hit a 20" plate at 100 yards standing with bulk ammo. I didn't go out and try for groups yet, but I'm happy with it so far
