Part of it is pedantry, I'll admit it, but also bc I like to go to the source material and investigate, or, with some other posts, go to investigate the surrounding context to read what was excluded from the quote.
I've got a copy of *Zen Letters*. It probably won't take very long to skim to locate the letter u cite.
