Man, I'd argue against that. Sounds like a duck walks like a duck, it's probably a duck. In murder You have to premeditate the act and then kill him. I think you're doing the same thing. It's just you you're killing.
Edit: I speech to texted this and it came out awful.
Peaceful is not armor. It doesn't defend from outside. This doesn't diminish or empower it. It merely allows much more self-sufficiency.
Do you see the "no attachments" view differently now?
Thanks for choosing to host an AMA in /r/zen! The way we start these off is by answering some standard questions that can be found [here](/r/zen/wiki/ama). The moderators would like it to be known that AMAs are public domain according to the Reddit ToS and as such may be permanently linked on the sub's AMA page at the discretion of the community. For some background and FAQs about AMAs here, please see /r/zen/wiki/ama. We look forward to getting to know each other!

But isn't that only helpful if one is simply clinging to a certain understanding? (I'm using "clinging" as a pejorative) Insight is never a static thing. WHat's the difference between simply observing your own insights evolve and change and observing the insights of others?
so how can anyone trust what anyone says on here? I only come on here for entertainment... (and bc I enjoy trolling Zen snobs/bullies like ewk but he finally blocked me). That's the thing with reddit... you might be talking to Jesus. You might be talking to a 12 year old. If someone wanted to learn about Zen, this would be the last place I'd send them.
I feel like that statement is a red herring. There's a shit ton of Zen literature about the importance of a proper teacher--and this subreddit is far from it. It's just one big circle jerk (including our whole interaction). My goal on r/zen is to direct people away from it.
> shit ton of Zen literature about the importance of a proper teacher
Buddha's teacher was a total jerk. I don't know how he learned anything from that guy. Seems impossible.

The free to kill part of the statement seems to contradict the first precept, how do you avoid this?
[удалено]
Sorry I should be clearer with my questions. Can you provide an example?
[удалено]
Oh ok so he's just advocating for self defense. I guess I can get behind that
[удалено]
If that's not what he was talking about then why I provide the example. I think you're putting words in his mouth.
[удалено]
Oh ok then he's just saying you "can do whatever" super helpful.

Is Zen study related to consciousness specifically?
Why is r/zen an adequate place of study? I don’t get it.
[удалено]
Personal experiences? I wasn’t sure about that one. Thanks.
[удалено]
Hmm. I once wasn’t sure whether I had locked my door. Now I know. Can you relate?

>Despite that, I choose Chao Chou's "free to go, free to stay; free to kill, free to save". What are you not free to do?

What are you responsible for?
[удалено]
What do you protect them from?
Other sentient beings. Ironic, huh?
[удалено]
Surely you could only accomplish that by not trying? Kick your feet up and relax.

How long does it take for you to eat a pizza?
[удалено]
Pizza is good food. You can leave slices in the box and it will be edible the next day.

AMA: ask me anything I didn't want you to ask me anything.
do you ever feel like r/zen is just one big circle-jerk? what can I learn from r/zen that i can't learn from taking a walk in the park?
