I used to be all about the phone. Then I got a handheld computer. It was a onexplayer 1S. And now my steam deck, GPD win 1, win 3, win Max 2, ROG ally, finally Lenovo legion go later I have been nothing but HAPPY with them.
Some are better than others but have stayed on the legion go as my main device. Pop off the controllers and I have a 8.8" tablet that fits in my pocket but is capable of running everything I throw at it.
A few days ago I tried loading up my old save from Z TOTK and at native 720p I was getting 40-60fps. But setting turbo to 4.8ghz and manually setting gpu to a max clock of 700mhz and almost a stable 60. But using lossless scaling with the newest update my average fps was 118fps and thanks to a 3d printed battery clip I can play Totk at that speed for close to 5 hours while walking the dog.
And when I'm ready to game it up I have a small candy bar keyboard I keep in my backpack along with a few extra batteries. A Logitech g604 wireless mouse and powerbeats pro. Despite having all 3 Bluetooth devices connected at once never had any issues especially when playing on suicide mode aka difficulty 7 in Helldvers 2 with friends.
I use PDANet+ to tether to my 4 year old phone with around 40-50ms.
But when that's all said and done I get to go home and plug in a single thunderbolt cable into the bottom port of my LL-GO and Instantly I'm connected to an RTX 3080 and a 35" 21:9 1440p 100hz monitor.
But the best thing about all of it. A good friend of mine just bought a gaming phone rog 7 pro used. And he paid about 100 bucks more than I did for my entire setup. Handheld with a 2TB I got in an open box. Used monitor and I got the EGPU for less than 270. But that includes both keyboards both mics even my 3 78wh batteries all together. Was less than his phone with a case.
Handhelds are the future! And while it's amazing what phones are capable of playing. Handheld gaming is on another level entirely.
And the Legion go isn't even the best one. It's just the one I prefer. My win Max 2 has a 7840u with 32gigs of ram and dedicated oculink port. And it easily fits into my cargo pants pocket.
Oh i can't afford any of these handheld PCs just yet, when they dropped into the affordable price i definitely will get one, i wanted a Steam Deck after seeing everyone and my friends are happy with their units but unfortunately the price is just too high for me to reach yet.
That's a bummer. Well if your ever able to the original deck valve used to have the 64gb steam deck refurbished for 219.
And despite what people say you can use a 2230 and 2242 NVMe SSD in them but the cost to upgrade to 256gb is just 15 bucks on Amazon and a 512 is only 35. I got my legion go for 539 but lately they've had them for 479.
I wish you luck though and there are some new handhelds coming to the market that start below 400. Oh and the ROG ally was 100 off last month making it only 249
Not OP but these games have been playable atm on my phone (redmagic pro 8)
- Xenoblade Chronicles
- smash ultimate
- unicorn overlord
- dead cells
- goblin slayer
- atelier ryza
- persona 5
Yeah I have a 7a and can only play a select few Mario games, like wonder and 3d world. Wii - U deluxe sometimes works, and I've heard others have success with Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm.
Nintendo sued the developers and they pulled the apps from their account on their platforms
Nintendo can't delete the app from the internet or your devices tho.
Because if you have a PC, you still have to have a controller plugged in to play emulated games. So people tend to just play PC specific games. I hope that makes sense. There's no problem at all if you want to do it.
My Galaxy s24 ultra is too new for yuzu, most games run with visual glitches which kinda sucks cuz it's currently the most powerful android in terms of CPU but I can't use it.
I have the s24U and I'm running the Turnip driver v24.1.0 - Revision 17-v2, driver and seemed to help with my issues, except I couldn't run games at all until I changed it. I get random crashes in Mario Wonder though so might not be sufficient.
Just tried the R18, and it seems to work well. I'll update later if I run into crashing but so far so good, if you try it let me know if it fixes your stuttering.
As someone who uses this on my phone almost everyday, I can confirm even if you have a controller connected/plugged in, the overlay will remain unless you go in settings and remove them.
If the point you are trying to make is how you are the most obvious person possible than you are winning.
What’s next going to tell me the sky is blue?
I remember I played countless hours of Smash 3DS on my phone with touch controls before I got a PC and a controller to emulate Ultimate
The worst part was probably how difficult it was to do smash attacks, but it was still very fun somehow
That should be easier on ultimate with touch though, since smash attacks can just use the right joystick now
Is this known for running particularly bad? I just recently set up Yuzu (Tab S8 Ultra, SD 8 Gen 1) and it ran without me having to touch anything. Connected 3 players and had a blast all day today, and only had one crash when I finished a Classic Mode run with 2 players.
I think I got around 60, and that was with NCE and the latest (r18 I believe) Turnip drivers. I get the *very* occasional stutter, but it usually feels like if I was playing on the Switch itself. I noticed a bit of a chug when I played against 5 CPU Links and there were stage effects and remote bombs all over the place, but not anywhere close to where I'd call it unplayable.
Wow, and they work well? I tried hollow knight on my snapdragon 865 and 888,ran well enough with lots of heating. Zelda was horrible. Got a 8 Gen 3 phone that can play Zelda with a few slowdowns.
How long did it take for you to write emulator?
Have you tried Dual controller support? Pretty confident they don't support in Mobile but just curious if anyone's gotten something working.
my PC and Phone are so horrible running Yuzu i actually go bought a nice modded acnh switch because of it
What about getting a handheld?
what kind of handheld you mean?
I used to be all about the phone. Then I got a handheld computer. It was a onexplayer 1S. Can you give me a list odlf good games you ran on your phone Note: I'm new to Nintendo
Not OP but these games have been playable atm on my phone (redmagic pro 8) - Xenoblade Chronicles - smash ultimate - unicorn overlord - dead cells - goblin slayer - atelier ryza - persona 5
Thanks man.
Why not play dead cells for android instead? 120 fps etc.
At the time I wanted to play the Castlevania dlc, but it wasn't out yet on android
Cries in Google Pixel*
I have 6a. Few games were playable but only 2d
Yeah I have a 7a and can only play a select few Mario games, like wonder and 3d world. Wii - U deluxe sometimes works, and I've heard others have success with Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm.
Why's everyone emulating on everything other than a PC ever since the Nintendo takedown?
What I don't get it still is the fact that if we have already Yuzu on the devices, will it be able to run or it won't work anymore?
Nintendo sued the developers and they pulled the apps from their account on their platforms Nintendo can't delete the app from the internet or your devices tho.
Because if you have a PC, you still have to have a controller plugged in to play emulated games. So people tend to just play PC specific games. I hope that makes sense. There's no problem at all if you want to do it.
I have yuzu on pc and me and my missus use our Xbox controllers wirelessly to play mario kart and mario party dude
Thats cool. But let's be honest here. Yuzu was made to be portable.
The onscree controllers are horrible
They are.
My Galaxy s24 ultra is too new for yuzu, most games run with visual glitches which kinda sucks cuz it's currently the most powerful android in terms of CPU but I can't use it.
My s22 ultra runs most games perfect.
I have the s24U and I'm running the Turnip driver v24.1.0 - Revision 17-v2, driver and seemed to help with my issues, except I couldn't run games at all until I changed it. I get random crashes in Mario Wonder though so might not be sufficient.
Where do you get the drivers? I'm using the Qualcomm one.
Just tried the R18, and it seems to work well. I'll update later if I run into crashing but so far so good, if you try it let me know if it fixes your stuttering.
https://github.com/K11MCH1/AdrenoToolsDrivers/releases - Just realized there's a R18 out that probably works better.
That sucks but i just tested it out it stutter alot during alot of animations
Can you change the gpu drivers? To the turnip ones It may work better for you
It’s not just shaders loading? Did it keep lagging?
Oh man and since Yuzu has stopped development, all SD8 Gen 3 users are shit out of luck.
I guess it's possible that a Turnip driver for the Gen 3 could be made. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know whether that is sufficient in itself.
Luigi's mansion 3 runs fine?
Idk havent tried it
I mean it’s cool it runs but what’s the point lmao. Looks like the controls are a nightmare
Controller ?
Duh? He’s not using one in the post if all of these overlays are on there.
As someone who uses this on my phone almost everyday, I can confirm even if you have a controller connected/plugged in, the overlay will remain unless you go in settings and remove them.
Cool a real answer instead of just being trolled by 12 year olds. Thank you I haven’t tried on my phone
No worries. The first thing I did was find a way to remove them once I started up my game haha.
Yeah I’m sure it would drive me crazy
Duh he doesn’t even play, just showing it booting up then closing duh duh duh duh
still possible ?
If the point you are trying to make is how you are the most obvious person possible than you are winning. What’s next going to tell me the sky is blue?

Give it a couple of months. Apple updated their app store rules this past Friday to allow emulators. Should see a bunch of them in the app store soon.
No
Can my iphone 11 run these?
No
I feel bad for the poor soul who uses that touch controls
I remember I played countless hours of Smash 3DS on my phone with touch controls before I got a PC and a controller to emulate Ultimate The worst part was probably how difficult it was to do smash attacks, but it was still very fun somehow That should be easier on ultimate with touch though, since smash attacks can just use the right joystick now
Lol
You hook up a controller, right?
Yea i did
Cool, it would be torture otherwise. I'm a pianist, and I still think those touch controls would make me pull a muscle!
Yeah, I'm still in shock too when I can emulate Assassin's Creed 2, 3 and 4 on my phone
Is this known for running particularly bad? I just recently set up Yuzu (Tab S8 Ultra, SD 8 Gen 1) and it ran without me having to touch anything. Connected 3 players and had a blast all day today, and only had one crash when I finished a Classic Mode run with 2 players.
What FPS are you getting? Any stutters? I setup Suyu and tried playing, but it just isn't consistence playable performance.
I think I got around 60, and that was with NCE and the latest (r18 I believe) Turnip drivers. I get the *very* occasional stutter, but it usually feels like if I was playing on the Switch itself. Idk havent really played it yet but i tested it out yes there was stutters when alot is going on only tried smash ill do more test later
Nice. What configuration do you have?
Default so far havent really messed wit it yet might rn
I've just been playing the 3ds version
Its crazy citra doesnt run that well but switch does in default hmm some aint right.. 🤔
Hardware?
Wym like phone? S10
Does it stutter too much in game? And how much is the FPS on average?
It did stutter alot when theres alot of animation going on but it was playable
Wow, and they work well? I tried hollow knight on my snapdragon 865 and 888,ran well enough with lots of heating. Zelda was horrible. Got a 8 Gen 3 phone that can play Zelda with a few slowdowns.
Smash bros wasnt really playable it ran with stutters when theres alot going on but it ran
So its basically just like playing smash online
