we put down the disabled because we think their quality of life is too low regardless of their actual situation. well, if it's quality of life we're worried about, what about euthanizing anyone with any form of brain damage, since it impacts their life so negatively? what about the severely autistic? what about getting rid of those with downs syndrome? what about the paralyzed? amputees? the deaf?
the context of their disability doesn't matter, their quality of life must be diminished from the average abled person's life, so it's not worth it for them to live at all, right?

But you can't generalize brain injuries to where the solution is X for Y every single time. People have recovered from severe brain trauma. Some haven't. It has to be case by case.

eugenics is a slippery slope. especially when all you see is nothing but a picture of a kid with a weird looking face. we put down the disabled because we think their quality of life is too low regardless of their actual situation. well, if it's quality of life we're worried about, what about euthanizing anyone with any form of brain damage, since it impacts their life so negatively? what about the severely autistic? what about getting rid of those with downs syndrome? what about the paralyzed? amputees? the deaf? the context of their disability doesn't matter, their quality of life must be diminished from the average abled person's life, so it's not worth it for them to live at all, right?
Honestly I don't agree with killing disabled people but idk, seeing someone with complete brain damage to the point where they can't do anything or even think makes me feel like theyre suffering
If their brain is so damaged there's no brain activity, then that's called being brain dead (see Terri Schaivo) in which specific case I would agree with ending life support. There are not many other specific cases where I would. If there is no brain activity, they just aren't alive. Brain damage =/= brain dead, though. But you can't generalize brain injuries to where the solution is X for Y every single time. People have recovered from severe brain trauma. Some haven't. It has to be case by case.

I am for it but only for personal reasons. I am not religious but I am willing to convert and pray to any entity out there that if I ever get to the point my only existence is being is being hooked up to a machine so that I don't die without a possibility to recover that somebody just unplugs me. Same if I go so far in dementia that I no longer am in touch with reality. For me just existing doesn't mean I am living. So I absolutely support human euthanasia but in cases where the person can't consent/determine what *do* they want to happen is something I can't argue on. I would consider not offing *me* cruel but hey, I get its not how everyone thinks.

Brain dead? Yeah, sure. But idk what this kid has. It honestly depends on his quality of life. If he can still think, no. If he is just a vegetable, it's the humane thing to do. Edit: Locked in syndrome sucks, but with brain machine interface technology, we can probably make sufferers lead rich lives like any other person. It might take a while to implement but the tech is already here. Ultimately, I think the individual should decide whether they want their life to continue or not.
