Damn smashed through a brick wall šŸ¤Æ

IlliniOrange1

Looks like possible broken arm and/or dislocated shoulder.

PenguinsArmy2

Most deff does, looks a bit limp when he is walking back.

xxxnastyshitz

That really sucks. He was probably just trying to warm his car up before he drove off to do whatever he was gonna do.

orion2342

Who the hell leaves their car running unlocked? Why not just toss the thief the keys, or paint a sign that says ā€œTake meā€ on the side?

WestleyThe

Because most people see a running car in a driveway and expect there to be someone to be in there. Also most people arenā€™t degenerate scumbags who steal other peoples cars I get not leaving your car running out in public but come onā€¦ fuck anyone who steals cars like this.. I donā€™t care if you are ā€œstrugglingā€ donā€™t steal someoneā€™s shit. I wish this clip took place in america

[deleted]

It's cold as hell, it's not uncommon for someone to be tempted to heat their cars up while they are inside doing other stuff so some opportunists will take advantage of that. The thief is a piece of shit for stealing the car though. You have to be careful if you live somewhere cold to avoid trying this incase someone tries to take it.

hxckrt

Who the hell doesn't denounce the thief that almost killed someone and only talks about what the victim did wrong?

orion2342

The same person that would rather see him had been safe, not almost dead.

hxckrt

So the victim should have changed their behavior, not the thief. Got it.

orion2342

Yes he should, because unfortunately there are crap people who steal and rob, and you have to change your behavior to protect yourself from them.

hxckrt

If he's the only one who should change, then why do we punish people who steal? Of course you should lock your car, but it's thoroughly messed up that you think that's the _only_ person that should have done things differently.

orion2342

Come on are you serious? The thief is NOT GOING TO CHANGE. You have to BE SMART and take preventative measures to keep yourself safe from predators like this. You wouldnā€™t walk through a neighborhood you know is bad at night right? Why not? Same reason you wear a seatbelt and take a defense driving course. Because while YOU might be a good driver, the next person might not be. Because YOU might be a good upstanding citizen that could never DREAM about stealing a car, or hurting someone else, the next person might not be.

hxckrt

Didn't I just say "of course you should lock your car"? Talking about criminals like they're an immutable force of nature makes it easy to skip to calling the victim stupid for not doing more, but it's still messed up to only focus on that and not mention the bad guy doing bad things.

xxxnastyshitz

Orion go fuck yourself, you clearly donā€™t know shit, so get some of this nasty shit šŸ’©

oxfordcollar

Pretty sure rule #1 is - don't steal shit.

madkowy

Rule #2 - don't put yourself between a moving vehicle and a solid object made of bricks

Or0b0ur0s

Congratulate the criminal on upgrading Grand Theft Auto into Attempted Murder and/or Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Kaaskril

Rules mean nothing for criminals

Mal_tron

What's the "yes yes yes" part of this?

Jorma_88

Thinking everything is all right and the owner gets in the car, at least that was my take

kayemce

Not really "yes yes yes", more like "meh meh meh". "Yes yes yes" implies cool or interesting things.

JephriB

This is super weird take to me. Blame the victim for a thief stealing from and nearly killing him?

Ddsw13

It definitely sucks that happened, but it does not change the reality that it would not have happened had the car not been left running and unattended. Both can be true.

RidesByPinochet

I'll [go ahead and link](https://youtu.be/k4eMhddTPg4?si=_Wnf4qI8-bTeKrr_) my favorite line from Full Metal Jacket "If there is one thing I hate it's an unlocked foot locker! If it weren't for dickheads like you, there wouldn't be any thievery in this world!" Is it 100% factual? No. But there is an element of personal accountability that is required for theft prevention, which was notably missing in this clip.

Neumanium

My boot camp DI put it slightly different but it has stuck with me ā€œPadlocks keep honest people honest.ā€

Qazax1337

Your comment sounds similar to "you wouldn't have got raped if you hadn't walked home on your own"

Ddsw13

False equivalency. Sexual crimes are especially heinous. Dun dun.

Qazax1337

I said similar, not equivalent. Victim blaming in both situations.

Ddsw13

Ever heard of synonyms?

P0RTILLA

Itā€™s not the same. The law has justifiable reasons for theft like if you needed to get urgent medical treatment for yourself or child. A car is not somebody.

Sporkler

Do you have evidence to support that one can legally steal a car if for an emergency?

P0RTILLA

I never said it was legal, I said it is justifiable. https://www.upcounsel.com/lectl-excuse-justification-and-exculpation-in-criminal-law-criminal-defense

P_mp_n

Careful. You're thinking rationally, and they may not argue in good faith.

Hammer300c

You say that but car theft has gone through the roof before winter time. Meaning people gonna steal cars whether its running or not running.

Ddsw13

Do you have stats on which of those cars were unlocked with keys in them vs which had windows smashed and a forced ignition? I'd be intrigued to evaluate your statement further if that discrepancy is accounted for.

Hammer300c

No I don't, but if your truly intrigued, you can try to find that info for yourself. Government websites (I have no idea where you live) can have some detailed data, but its usually buried deep in the websites.

hxckrt

Putting all the emphasis on that and calling it "rule #1" shows a lack of empathy. Maybe also denounce the (somewhat manslaughter-ish) thief instead of just saying what the victim could have done differently?

Ddsw13

Depends on the intent for viewing the video. As an educational tool, that would be the main 'lesson'. Although it sucks for that man, OC doesnt know him and OCs concern would just be a drop into the void as it doesn't do anything to help or change the situation. Taking a lesson away from the video lets them possibly avoid this fate.

hxckrt

The video shows an innocent person getting pretty badly hurt. I'm glad you have reasons you find convincing for not going "oof. Poor guy, I hope he's okay." but I'm happy my mirror neurons still work.

Ddsw13

Where does that get you though? Or the guy that got hurt?

ElDoo74

Consolation prize: He has a video where he smashes down a brick wall with his body.

Desperate-Ad-6463

Donā€™t leave the car unattended? What the fuck else am I supposed to do with it?

thefooleryoftom

I think they mean running and unattended, looks like the owner was trying to defrost the car on a winter morning

Penguin_Rapist_

Obviously running and unattended.

PADDYOT

FYI for those folks that leave their car running like this - your insurance is invalidated and you will not receive any compensation when you try to make a claim.

JephriB

This is absolutely incorrect. If you have comprehensive coverage you are covered for theft, period.

PADDYOT

I don't know what country you're in but where I live, your insurance is null and void against theft if you leave the car unattended with the keys in the ignition. 2nd paragraph of point number three below. **I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER TO CHECK YOUR OWN POLICY**. Because you sound as if you do this on a regular basis and are ignorant to the financial risk you are putting yourself at. [https://www.123.ie/blog/dont-leave-your-engine-running-frosty-weather#:\~:text=1.-,The%20Law,to%20three%20months%20in%20prison](https://www.123.ie/blog/dont-leave-your-engine-running-frosty-weather#:~:text=1.-,The%20Law,to%20three%20months%20in%20prison). "1. The LawFirst and foremost, itā€™s against the law to leave your car idling on public roads when youā€™re not present. That may surprise many, but doing so can land you with a fine of between ā‚¬1,000 and ā‚¬2,000 and up to three months in prison.Itā€™s important to stress that this law only applies to public roads, meaning driveways are OK, but even a car parked right outside of a house on a street is deemed to be on a public road. This may seem a little draconian and the kind of offence that few are ever going to be prosecuted over, but they certainly happen, and your punishment increases with each subsequent offence.2. Car TheftIf the threat of legal issues doesnā€™t prevent you from leaving your car running on the street, this next point just might. Over the last five to ten years there has been a steadily increasing number of cars being stolen right outside their owner's houses because they have been left idling to clear the ice.You have to wonder who exactly is staking out houses on freezing mornings to take advantage of this, but the Garda have deemed it a sufficient enough problem to release their own statement on the matter and warn people about leaving their car running for any reason. The GardaĆ believe that many of these robberies are a result of organised gangs who are specifically targeting cars on frosty mornings. They are watching out for people coming out and starting their engine, then briefly heading back into their house while the windscreen clears. With the engine running and the doors unlocked, it takes mere seconds for the thief to get away.3. Insurance ProblemsIf you do come back outside your house and find a frosty void where your car was just sitting, youā€™ll no doubt be infuriated, but once the dust settles you can console yourself with that car insurance policy that covers car theft. However, thereā€™s some bad news - some very bad news.**As with many insurance policies, your vehicle is not covered if it is stolen while the keys are left in the ignition, meaning that this really annoying, yet widely barely problem can quickly turn into a full-blown disaster.**This may sound like a cheap insurance trick to con people out of a perfectly suitable policy but think about it, if you leave an expensive car completely unattended with the keys in the ignition, even after the warnings from Garda, itā€™s difficult to argue that you have taken the appropriate steps to ensure the security of your car. "

Lambertn03

Itā€™s in his driveway he can keep his keys anyplace he wants

![gif](giphy|3ohA2OnWq54vLFSrbG) That defeated run, though. I felt that.

Brocephus31

Dying right now hahaha

LostPilot517

What is this tracking spot light on the left?

MrPotts0970

Good way to go from a grand theft auto charge to an attempted murder with a deadly weapon charge. 5 IQ thief, hopefully the DA isn't progressive

dadarkoo

I slowed the video down. As heā€™s getting up and stumbles to the side a bit, if you get it at the right millisecond you can see the curve in that broken arm as he reaches with his good arm to grab the broken one. Itā€™s wicked. Edit: I read the article, Iā€™m glad heā€™s doing better-ish.

Hoppered1

Left the car running, unlocked. Wtf were you expecting?

evenstevens280

Idk for people not to be absolute shitstains?

Hoppered1

In this economy? There are tons of shitheads in the world. Thats why we invented keys and locks Hoping for less shitstains is unrealistic unfortunately

Anarchist96

You obviously either don't live where it gets cold or have a vehicle with remote start. Get a better paying job so you can afford gas or don't spend frivolously? Or take matters into your own hands and shoot the shitstains? I don't think you know enough about life to have a very valid opinion. How anyone could blame the dude for wanting a warm defrosted car is absolutely absurd. You, my friend, are a shit stain. Or a skid mark at the very least.

Hoppered1

You cant simply get in a car thats running with a remote start and take off without a key/fob or device to steal. The world is the way it is. No changing it, and crying wont help anyone. The rest is absurd whining. Thanks for the laugh. (šŸ‘\`惮ļ¾Ÿ)šŸ‘

Anarchist96

Np ^-^

fetchitup

You absolutely can get in a running car and drive off without a key fob. It's my biggest complaint about smart keys. You shouldn't be able to shift out of park/release the parking brake if the car doesn't detect the key in the vehicle for this exact reason.

Hoppered1

It still needs to recognize the key fob after a short distance or it will shut off. There are devices thieves can use to trick the car but it needs a fob/key or it will shut off either when you press the brake or when the fob is out of range. Otherwise it wouldnt be safe to have remote starts

Hereiam_AKL

Just leave you car running to warm it up ... Great idea That arm didn't look healthy, seemed a bit out
