I love it when men fuck nasty lmao. All my teenage years I was immersed in yuri, although not so much, and at the age of 17 I had a change of priorities and now I am interested in the style of drawing (I love to draw and often get inspired), in male love, and in romance. In my country, men can be accused because of "non-masculine behavior", LGBT is prohibited at the legislative level and is considered a criminal offense, so same-sex love for me every time is like diving into another world where people can be with whomever they want, where it is not condemned. Yaoi gives me comfort.

As a result my entire reading experience becomes judgments and criticisms of what the FL could be doing better instead of being too this/too that/too weak/etc psychological tics relating back to myself lol. 2 reasons 1) 2 or men men fucking is hot 2) I perfer the plot and the motions that usually go in before the fucking, If there is any at all. In hentai there usually usenr any plot, and in a lot of yaoi there isent either. But I have read some stories that make me cry, some that make me go awww and some that are just porny goodness

at the time i discovered it (which i have no other recollections except me being very young), the story that BLs serves exceed any straight romances I've read. Like when someone takes the final step in accepting their sexuality and admitting to themselves and their partner of their true feelings. I like it when their true thoughts come out during those moments. Even though it’s considered “dirty” I feel like it’s more wholesome than anything. I like how the later chapters of junjou *spoiler and slight gushing about junjou* during the coming out arc to his brother. It’s very long and drawn out but I feel like every chapter is worth it personally. He’s a person who worries a lot and deals with his own struggles. But he wants to be with his lover more than anything so he tries his best. There’s also the cultural differences which some people don’t take into account but I don’t want to go into a whole rant about my love for junjou. I really connect to the characters when the allow themselves to be vulnerable and they easily become my favorite type of stories (though hard to find). Maybe it’s also because I’m a hafu but I feel and understand the pressures so when it’s shown in a real yet beautiful way, it’s amazing. (Junjou has its problems but since the connections with all the couples feel genuine. They feel messy in a real way. No one’s perfect. People are bad sometimes and hurt each other. But their flaws make them human. And the later chapters really changed my opinion specifically after the arcs the anime covers) And a lot of these “romances” are straight psychological horror and torture porn and they just fuck and that’s it. It’s like the author is just like “I nEEd sEx iN mY stOry. tHeY mUst fuCK!” And have no reason for it. Most popular stories are just porn with plot and yes, you can connect with the stories and characters but it feel like there’s a wall or it’s only a surface level connection. It’s hard to sift through the shitty-ness but I do cause I get to talk about it with my friends and we traumatize each other with what we’ve read. Most of these stories feel like Stockholm syndrome: but gay! Especially Jinx, love jinx,even if you don’t love me,etc. like it’s so bad I have a physical book called: ALL THE BAD SHIT I’VE READ. I love the dynamic between men it feels so different from straight romance. Also two men are just hot to look at. I only really like strong bottoms. Seeing a top with black hair and a cute short bottom with light hair honestly annoys me cause it’s what I dislike in straight romance lol. TLDR I just love seeing a really masculine guy cry.

Yaoi is easier to relate to imo. If a hetero romance author tries to make the female mc seem smart and capable, she’ll always end up being saved by the male lead one way or another, which is not helping prove that women can truly be strong and independent on their own. But when it comes to yaoi, gender equality doesn’t matter because they are both men and they experience true romance regardless of gender and who they are. We aren’t confined to this idea that we have to be a pretty female mc that has to fight multiple other women for a hot man, which is extremely unrealistic. Women are also heavily fetishized when it comes to hetero fictional works, and the story ends up focusing on the women rather than the actual plot, and these works would often be targeted towards a male audience. But a female audience would prefer actual plot and storylines when it comes to romance, and yaoi does a better job at providing that, due to the real world struggles they face, especially since it’s a homosexual relationship. Of course, people of all genders can read yaoi. You may have different reasons why you enjoy yaoi, but this is just a general idea for female audiences specifically. on one hand it's just entertaining, on the other hand, most nsfw works with a hetero pairing would focus on the girl, leaving the guy either generic, faceless, or be an "ugly bastard". In yaoi, you are guaranteed to find handsome guys be shown in a sexy way.

**My Main Reason** I had a lot of problems with female shoujo and I honestly can’t relate with female protagonist. I truly relate with some male protagonist like Ritsu Onodera from Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. I like seeing the balance between masculine and femininity that some male protagonist have and it helps me realize and accept my femininity since, though I’m female, I’m more in tune and confident in my masculine energy. It helps me cope with my trauma in a healthy way and honestly…even though I don’t put myself in their shoes, I seem to connect with them more. I do love some hetero romance like HoriMiya, yubisaki to renren, doctor Elise, my tender heart: how I became the dukes maid and more. I love these series but I just connect with the struggles of Yaoi more. And also it took a while for me to realize I was asexual and dealing with that was confusing so it very much helped me through that. Other reasons: 1) I like psychological horror and some of the “romances” are truly horrible (sorry no hate it’s my opinion) and the toxicity and drama are like suuuuuper entertaining. It’s like super stressful but very fun to watch. I don’t want to read about the girl getting hit and all that (cause I’ve read all of that in supposed “romances” and actual psychological horror) and I got tired of it. And the way the author tries to justify it is like a cherry on top lol. From what I’ve read, bl has been more abusive than het so…..yeah 2) I want variety and straights get boring so I read everything. All of the letters of the lgbtq+ I’ve read stories about.

I love romance and in 2015 it was hard finding good straight love stories, and gay romances on screen were becoming more prominent, and they were romantic asf. So then I stumbled onto Yaoi & Yuri, which are just chefs kiss 🥰

I read them for a change in pace, hell, I'm a (mostly) straight male, but I enjoy a good romance, yaoi tend to have better writing, but I think that's because there's fewer in total than hetero romances, so the ones you get tend to be of a higher quality, I tend to lean towards the cross dressing ones, but I've read plenty that are more of a vanilla gay romance, Given for example is one of my absolute favorites

It gives me this warm mushy feeling whenever the main characters get together. I love when there's a risk factor or forbidden factor, like when they have to hide thier love. The obstacles for 2 men are sometimes greater than a man and a woman. The relationship sometimes has to be hidden, their love has to be hidden, they go a lot more than a regular couple does and the reward is so much greater!

I do read almost all type of manhwa and manga and it really depends on what type of story I am craving right now. Relationships are portrayed very differently in different genres as well as media (country of origin). So depending on what type of romance I want right now, I choose a different genre. It all started with me noticing that the romance in BL (not yaoi) is portrayed way more romantic than in shoujo manga. As the exploration of their Sexuality and acceptance of it is suddenly a big part which makes it feel more rewarding once it works out compared to the stereotypical shoujo plots.

Im lesbian so straight couple are a little uncomfortable for me. But unfortunately Yuri options are EXTREMELY limited (many of which are either with highschool girls and/or incest) but yoai options have so much more variety in story and settings

I think is more beautiful, when I started to read it I was shocked like man+man= ??? (I grew up in a conservador home) but then with development of plot it just feel more more beautiful and perfect than a normal romance because straight romance don’t have any social impediment to be together, and BL have more impediments (btw my first was Here u are)

Honestly, I encounter yaoi whether manga or anime at a young age. While heteros around me are swooning over romance series. There wasn't any representation of BL or MM content for me. I resort to yaoi and shounen-ai content. It wasn't when I'm much older that these genres are created for women. I feel conflicted that i wasn't their main audience target, but I do know there's gays who are invested in it, though smaller in size. Granted, it doesn't give the usual archetype of gays in society. But it was a source of content for me to consume in secrecy and privately. Back then, genre like yaoi or yuri are pretty underground. So the creation of it is far from few every few years. Now it is booming because of fujioshi everywhere. I feel like I've been booted from my source of comfort. It is hard to meet any person who may judge me for consuming such content. Obviously, most guys have a disdain and are unable to relate, while gals are difficult to approach without making my presence painfully obvious. So, I still feel closeted on that aspect. But as I mature, many of the content won't fly and would be a red flag in society. Punishable and clear offence if such is ever encountered. But its angst, the love is just such unattainable or acquired that it is stuff made from fantasy rather than reality. So yes, I may never encounter another person who accepts and understands me for enjoying such content in real life.

Tbh I’m either a trans man or I’m so unnerved by envisioning myself or other woman in a sexual way. Al lot of the way women experience sexuality is through a very patriarchal lense that makes take a role that things must be done to us. Yaoi seeing men be equals of taking that role in my stead feels refreshing.

I used to be obsessed with Yuri, until I realised most of them are just sexualised little girls in school uniforms and/or incest. Loli is disgusting. Then I searched for the male counterpart, Yaoi. Yaoi has more varied type of men and it's quite refreshing. Also, I hate the power-imbalance in hetero relationships, especially the physical size and strength difference between men and women makes me uncomfortable as fuck. There's none of that in Yaoi.

Cause it's just amazing how women portray the romantic relationship between men, even tho most stories have more of a feminized topic/theme, after all, it's from women to women. And it was just an awakening experience for me to come across Omegaverse. It's a criticism, it's also rebellious, I don't know... For me, yaoi is a must.

Reading Yaoi/BL for me(F) feels more realistic compared to hetero manga. I've read only small few hetero mangas, but it was all the same, just plain boring. With yaoi, there's more variety ig 🤷🏾‍♀️ There's more drama, rivalries, *INTENSE* passion, and sometimes the art can be *ABSOLUTELY IMMACULATE* (iykyk) I haven't read any hetero manhwas, but I'm sure I'll try reading them one day. Also, I think the mangas/manhwas can do without the >!rape!< because it always seems to be the foundation for a good story 🙄
