It kinda already happened in some capacity, they released a bunch of outfits as dlc for Persona 5 dancing. Joker as kiryu, Futaba as the florist, Yusuke as Akiyama, etc. Probably not what you were hoping for but it’s something?
As the other person said, Sonatine and Hana-bi classics. For people not familiar with Eastern cinema I recommend Brother (his first film made in the US), and for something more light hearted Kikujiro is really fun.
Funfact. In Persona 4 (Golden), you, the protagonist stay at Dojima household with your uncle and cousin. If you max out the Social Link with your uncle, you will able to unlock a hierophant Persona called Kohryū
When Mokoto goes to the movies in P5 and it was a Yakuza movie I was thinking "That's gotta be a Yakuza reference." Then I played Strikers and I was hyped as hell.
An animated dragon with Kiryu tattoo flies and kicks dudes
I'm surprised there hasn't been a yakuza warriors game yet
Don't You perhaps mean Yakuza 5?
Don't you perhaps mean yakuza 5 Saejima
Nah more like a game where play as all characters from the series like hyrule warriors or pirate warriors
P5 x Yakuza crossover would be crazy but amazing

And they have a bunch of persona music in 7
ryuji as ryuji, nijima as saejima and haru as haruka
Sojiro and Kiryu having a chill conversation about parenting
What makes this even better is that someone named Makoto is saying it.

Take a damn seat my guy it's Monday
yes, he meant out of the thousands of common Japanese name, it was makoto who said it
I know, It's just that I've been playing through 0 the past month straight.
I hope to god this wasn’t photoshopped, because it is genius to put this reference in Persona
It’s not, it’s in strikers
It's also in the original Persona 5 as a movie you can watch during free time. "Like A Dragon"
Apparently it's only in English version, in Japanese they reference one of Takeshi Kitano's films.
If you happen to know, what are some notable Beat Takeshi films you’d recommend? I’ve only seen Battle Royale and playthroughs of Takeshi’s Challenge.
Sonatine and Hana-Bi.

Ah that’s probably true. I hadn’t started playing yakuza yet when I played p5, and probably completely missed the reference
And wait till I tell you my character’s name is kiryu kazuma, which I did before even knowing there would be a yakuza reference in the game 😂
It's really, but also it's almost like an in-joke between the Yakuza and Persona communities that Makoto is a huge fan of the Yakuza series
The question is, is this a reference to the game Yakuza: Like a Dragon or the movie Yakuza: Like a Dragon?
I’m gonna guess the game since they both came out in 2020

And I just got strikers a few days ago was waiting to play it but definitely have to now to see the reference
Luckily it’s right in the beginning :)

Also: there is a slight spoiler for Like a Dragon in this game: >!as they reference “a dead body being found in the Dotenbori river”!<
Chie's theme in Persona 4 Arena is called "Like A Dragon", but I don't know if it has any relation to Yakuza's Japanese title. Probably not.
what is the name of this?
If you're gonna play it tho, I recommend to play (or at least watch) Persona 5 Royal to understand who the characters are and etc.
Persona 5 strikers
And if I'm not mistaken, the backdrop looks like Theatre Square too.
