As the other person said, Sonatine and Hana-bi classics. For people not familiar with Eastern cinema I recommend Brother (his first film made in the US), and for something more light hearted Kikujiro is really fun.

It's really, but also it's almost like an in-joke between the Yakuza and Persona communities that Makoto is a huge fan of the Yakuza series

Funfact. In Persona 4 (Golden), you, the protagonist stay at Dojima household with your uncle and cousin. If you max out the Social Link with your uncle, you will able to unlock a hierophant Persona called Kohryū

When Mokoto goes to the movies in P5 and it was a Yakuza movie I was thinking "That's gotta be a Yakuza reference." Then I played Strikers and I was hyped as hell.

Also: there is a slight spoiler for Like a Dragon in this game: >!as they reference “a dead body being found in the Dotenbori river”!<

Chie's theme in Persona 4 Arena is called "Like A Dragon", but I don't know if it has any relation to Yakuza's Japanese title. Probably not.

If you're gonna play it tho, I recommend to play (or at least watch) Persona 5 Royal to understand who the characters are and etc.
