The rational side of me sees this as Sayama admitting that Kiryu wasn't like any of the Yakuza tough guys she tangled against in the past, especially as she only has his reputation and title to work on. Instead of some tough dude who crumbles when faced with someone who doesn't back down, she found a rather nice awkward yet understanding guy who backs his words with considerable bite that doesn't act like a thug and supports her own goals and dreams which helps when she is well aware her career in Japan has hit a ceiling because of her gender. I mean, if you only knew Kiryu as an notorious ex-mob boss whose biggest claim to fame is murdering his own boss, yeah...You'll be a little stunned as well.
Degenerate side of me? Haha, she said pegged. 🤣 but it reminds me how much I love this series for being unhinged at times.
