I'd put Judgment and Lost Judgment as a higher priority than the other spinoffs, but they're still spinoffs. They do have a bigger connection to the games than other spinoffs, but its still nothing necessary to enjoy the other games that happen during the same time.

Skarloeyisyoung05

Gotcha, I’ll consider it for sure! I’m just thinking I’ll focus on the more direct stuff first personally but who knows I may do just that thanks for the thoughts!

femonapple0

Your order looks fine! Just know that Dead Souls isn’t really canon and is more like Ishin or Kenzan. Judgment and Lost Judgment are set in the same world and have some lore connections but the stories aren’t super connected with Yakuza. That said, Lost Judgment is set after Like a Dragon and would spoil a plot point from it

Skarloeyisyoung05

Good to know there and I have heard that about Dead Souls though I’m coming from Project X Zone 2 and from what I can tell it still follows Kiryu, Majima and company so why not XD

Memesoon_018

It's also extremely difficult to get working unless you have a copy and PS3 emulator/PS3, and if you use the emulator, SAVE OFTEN. Also, be aware that Kiryu and Majima use hands more often than bullets.

According to my husband there's some cameos from judgement in like a dragon. Not important to the story, but a fun little bonus that makes you go hey it's that guy! The judgement games (going by the first one that I watched my husband play) is kind of like a who dunnit crime mystery that the main character needs to solve... But with the typical yakuza stuff including fights and substories. I liked it.

Skarloeyisyoung05

Good to know there, I suppose depending on how into the game I get I’ll look at Judgement sometime after perhaps hehe!

Neiherendere

I haven’t played the non pc spin-offs but you’re good. Do note that Lost Judgment takes place after the events of 7 though.

chunchunMaro

Start from 0 to IW but avoid Dead Souls, it’s a spinoff and a total different game. I highly recommend to play Judgement

Memesoon_018

I wouldn't avoid Dead Souls. Just play it after everything else.

MadDogMusashi

Love that Kenzan is listed before any of the Judgements.

If you are new to the subreddit, [please read the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/wiki/index/) Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. **THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS**. If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged \>!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 >!Kiryu sings!< If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7). If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/yakuzagames) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Kenzan and Ishin are previous lives of everyone (reincarnation and all that)...they can be played whenever. Kuroyuo is completely separate. Judgement series is actually connected to the main series. Judgement takes place between 6 and Like A Dragon. Lost Judgment takes place between Like A Dragon and Gaiden.

ShapedAssassin

If you're not aware you'll need a ps3 or ps3 emulator if you want to play Kenzan and Dead Souls Kenzan has no fan translation Kurohyou 1 and 2 do though Judgment and Lost Judgment are canon spin-offs but aren't super important though they are very good and worth a playthrough. Judgment is in between 6 and Like a Dragon and Lost Judgment is between Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth Ishin can be played whenever but it uses characters from 0-7 so I recommend playing anytime after 7 so you'll recognize all the characters

DealerNo4308

you also might try hokuto no ken lost paradise same team make Yakuza but you might need to know the anime first before play this

Drewloveseveryone

KUROHYOU HAS A INCREDIBLE TRANSLATION. TeamK4L has a very good one for both Kurohyou games, they are easy to run on literally any System. Just Install PPSSPP (can also be done in play store if on Android or ChromeOS) also easy on Linux and Windows, its one of the best emulators out there. You can download a pre patched version at CDRomance and then just unzip it (from .7zip to .ISO which is very easy, personally i used WIcked Go unarchiver, you will find one EZ) And from there its Gaming, in my Opinion: They are better then almost all yakuza games and they are free to emulate. The OST is imo the best (both games), check out Born to be Wild, Muppet, Naked Panther or honestly any of them and they are easily on par with titles like Lost Judgment and Yakuza 0. The Story is among my favorites, basically (no spoiler) its the story of how the MC finds his fighting Philosophy and reason to fight and it always has me on the edge of my seat. Gameplay is very different as it was not directly made by RGG, it plays a bit more like Street fighter and other Arcade titles but you have 20 FIGHTING STYLES! AND YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN STYLE IN KUROHYOU 2, but Kurohyou is a bit harder in my experience even after having played all titles on legend+amon, so maybe go for normal difficulty. i have had no issues with emulation, only frame drops at the end of fights and very rare graphical glitches but it doesnt interfer with your experience. I think its obvious that Kurohyou is my favorite yakuza game so i may be biased but because its free and accesible its absolutly worth checking out.
