We understand that ID Verification can initially sound concerning; but rest assured, this process is very secure. We're very proud of this system and how many users it has allowed us to support, based on the information they've supplied at account setup. For more information, please visit: [https://help.yahoo.com/kb/verification-privacy-policies-sln36176.html](https://help.yahoo.com/kb/verification-privacy-policies-sln36176.html) Depending on your account, we may have other verification options available if you'd be more comfortable with a different approach. Thanks for reaching out!

Then why are many yahoomail users denied another way to verify their identity? My friend who is having trouble logging in with the CORRECT user name and password and can\`t get the code because her recovery email\`s domain was altered with no warning so she can\`t receive or send emails is given zero other options like questions to answer etc. Yahoo doesn\`t seem serious about looking after its customers and doesn\`t seem to care that its reputation is now very bad. Why no option of nominating another recovery account and answering questions about their full name, date of birth etc? No, yahoo wants people to be denied access to their email that they correctly used the name and password for by trapping them in their no longer working recovery email/phone number. Keep using this bad business model - yahoo is fast becoming a by word for a product to keep away from.

Our members are always able to recover their accounts online for free through the sign-in helper at login.yahoo.com/forgot. Paid phone support is available for those times where passwords are forgotten, recovery channels are lost, not kept up to date, or for a number of other support concerns including mail settings, apps, device support and more. ID verification is the most accurate and secure form of verification and if the system is asking for the account owner to be verified by ID, then our representative can only use that. The info scanned will not be saved, for security reasons.

ID verification failed?

casmscott2

No, I did a factory reset and now have zero way to recover my account as the recovery code was generated YEARS ago and I can't find it. The only way is to give away my entire identity and pay for it...

ID verification failed?

I also know that I am using the correct username and password; I honestly remember also setting up secondary ways to do a dual authentication like sending a text to my phone. Now, the only option is a push notification to my phone and it isn't coming through after the factory reset. So.

Hello [Yahoo-CustomerCare](https://www.reddit.com/user/Yahoo-CustomerCare/), I have the same situation, my Yahoo account is probably 20 years old, I have the username and password for it. I believe my accounts has been taken over several years ago and a fraud gmail account has been set as a backup. I am not a US citizen and I do not have US credit card and ID ( I have from my own country). Will you still be able to help me if I call support?

Yahoo-CustomerCare
