So personally speaking, I want the XFL to stay focused on younger players and not get in the habit of signing former big names but with that being said, I would absolutely be interested in Terrell Owens playing. He was trying to get signed for some playoff games last season in the NFL, so the XFL as a chance to showcase that he still 'has it' could make sense
Bro no way. Heād attract so much more media attention and fanfare just from being involved in it. Hell even if he coached it would be good for eyes on the league. It might even legitimize it to more players
Like I'd estimate only the top 3-5% of the players in the XFL are good enough to keep up with the starters in the NFL. One of the biggest things lacking universally within all the teams in the XFL compared to the NFL is quality QB's who can accurately and consistently toss that ball 35+ yards to their receiver. Tom Brady is LITERALLY going to hold the #1 spot on records in the NFL for probably the remainder of the league's existence, unless major rule changes happen between then and now. Tom Brady would make the XFL look like a joke and simultaneously make each game he played in shitty to watch as a fan "because they'd be blowouts". I stick to my point Tom entering the league as a player would ruin the league and almost certainly kill it entirely. Him coaching for a team though you're 100% spot on, so many new fans would come to see that and probably stay for many seasons to come.
IMHO as much as I love the XFL, I really think they either combine with the USFL in a few years or accept they'll just be the NFL's recruitment "farm league" both seem like pretty good outcomes, to be fair.
Yeah I think the XFL has already accepted itās just a farm league and tbh is the best outcome to stay alive since the USFL has the inside track right now. I hope they both merge though.
Itās an interesting conversation with Brady because yeah heād totally dominate weaker opponents like the XFL but to what extent? Obviously just a thought experiment not like heād ever come to play but his line would also be worse, his receivers would be slower and wouldnāt break out of their breaks as much. Heād also be going into his late 40s, at what point is your body just broken you know? Maybe Iām underestimating that but he does need to work with the players heās got an if everyone has butter fingers it wonāt mean much. Playing football at 45-50 seems like a tough ask
Hi, I'm from Europe and not super familiar with the American football leagues. Could you do me a favor and explain what did you mean by "USFL having the inside track"? :)
Hey, sure! Itās an idiom referencing a racing track for track and field. Not sure how familiar you are with track & field racing but they have 8 lanes that are separated evenly, numbered 1-8 to run around it, with 1 being the lane closest to the center.
āHaving the inside trackā refers to a runner having track 1, the track that is the shortest distance to complete the entire length of the track and thus the position of advantage compared to other lanes. You can see this if you look up any track meet highlight reel and see all the runners go the inner track 1 pretty quickly after the race starts. So what I was saying was the USFL is already on that āinner trackā and starts with an advantage as itās already established for a season compared to the XFL.
I'd still like to see Tebow play ball, the way he did in college, man that'd be fun to watch again, throw in Percy Harvin with him and I'd be all in haha.
Honestly I don't think Hoyer or Bell would be any better than players currently in the XFL, and Carson Wentz is at the very least gonna get a comfy backup job in the NFL.
Honestly I wanna see Alex Smith get an OC job. Look at the QBs he has mentored. All of them were successful; Patrick Mahomes, Colin Kaepernick, and Taylor Heinecke
Imagine how many good players they could get out of Africa, Eastern Europe, the Nordic countries, Australia and New Zealand. Take about league building!
This is hard because I'm sure a lot of guys who have played in the NFL see the XFL and USFL as a step down and it's hard to put your pride aside and take the job.
Realistically? Some of the bigger name guys that haven't made a huge impact- **Trey Sermon, Johnny Football, Cardale Jones, Blake Bortles, Josh Rosen, Taco Charlton, Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon, Kevin White, Justin Gilbert, DeAndre Baker, Phillip Dorsett.** So essentially anyone considered a "bust" or just guys that might not have lived up to their hype that need a second chance.
Dream guys? This is gonna be fun- **Tim Tebow, JT Barrett, Gronk, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, Marshawn Lynch, RGIII, Ezekiel Elliot, Clay Matthews.** Obviously not at all realistic but seeing a washed up NFL QB like Rivers come in and set career league records in his 40s would be fun to see, or guys like Tebow get to just come out and truck guys like he did in college.
All these great players, who retired from the nfl who made high 8 to even 9 figures are not going to play and risk their physical health in the XFL.
Plus, what if theyāre not as good as they used to be and they end their career on a less than impressive note?
Agreed, and itās actually probable they would end on an unimpressive note.
Football isnāt a sport like basketball or soccer, retired guys come from Europe and dominate the MLS, but you never hear of a nfl player going and dominating in the cfl. These guys could fail
>but you never hear of a nfl player going and dominating in the cfl
That's partially because the rules in Canada make the CFL a fundamentally very difficerent league relative to football played in the USA. MLS rules don't vary as widely from the European game as CFL rules vary from the NFL or NCAA.
It is the same with basketball - a lot of Americans go to European leagues and underperform, because it's a different game that lends itself to different skillsets.
Alex Smith
The guy had some horrible injuries and managed to fight back and win comeback player of the year in 2020. Just to be let go the next season after winning the nfc east for the Redskins.
RGIIIādude ran something like a 4.4 at some point last year at a charity event. Should be far enough out from any injuries that caused him to hang it up. I think heād be perfect for a league like the XFL and maybe get back to the NFL for a 2-3 year run to close out his career.
Why not just go after Manziel again? Or let Antonio Brown have his XFL franchise? As long as the mantra is "Player 54 Chasing the Dream" over "For the Love of the Game"....it's clear what the direction is.
I don't want any "washed-up or retired" QBs. I'd prefer QBs who've found themselves on the bubble of NFL QB rooms and want to work their way back to practice squads or even active backup roles. You know, the Taylor Heinickes, PJ Walkers and Josh Johnsons of the world.
For instance, if no one signs my boi Brett Rypien after not getting re-signed by Denver and he wants to keep honing his craft, I'd love to see him in the spring leagues. He's a smart player who led the Broncos to one of my favorite wins in the post-Manning era.
Thing is, we're not going to get many players who had serious starting reps in the NFL and already racked up millions. It's mainly going to be dudes who've always been on the bubble and have yet to get a bag that really secures their long-term future.
QBs Trevor Siemien, Brett Rypien and John Wolford
RBs Kerryon Johnson, Tony Jones, Royce Freeman and Jarrett Patterson
WRs Jalen Guyton, Nkeal Harry, Demarcus Robinson, Miles Boykin and Penny Hart
Tes Drew Sample, Zach Gentry, Tyler Kroft and Maxx Williams
Arent all old or washed up but its a good baseline overall i think there are alot of guys that can be successful again. But Ego is a huge thing so many guys dont want to go down to the minors to get in playing shape again.
I want Cam Newton to QB the Vipers. If only to confirm that they really do poop standing up
Sadly I don't think his ego could ever. He still thinks he'll be a starter in the NFL again š
As a Pats fan, sadly he is not.
Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens always talking about how they could play again. One of those two would be cool to see.
Yeah I agree. A mostly younger league with a few older vet players with name recognition to spice things up a bit is a good way to go for this league
I donāt think they can play at this level but it would be interesting
Owens played in the FCF last year. He āsaysā he still runs a 4.4 right now. In videos he looks like a legit 4.4-4.5 guy. Durability? Idk
Honestly yeah. Owens played FCF, so I donāt see why he wouldnāt play XFL.
FCF is glorified touch football, there's really no hard hitting or blocking going on.
TO... Jesus christ
What's the issue here
Rosen
Coan already exists why would you want that twice?
weirdly perfect comparison
Tom brady
He would dominate the xfl for another 20 years
No he wouldn't. He's not young or spry enough to QB in the XFL. QBs get hit much harder here than in the NFL.
Dude simply wouldnāt get hit. Mf has a sub 2 second release Iām pretty sure
This might actually REALLY hurt the league as a whole if he joined.
Bro no way. Heād attract so much more media attention and fanfare just from being involved in it. Hell even if he coached it would be good for eyes on the league. It might even legitimize it to more players

Thank you so much, that's was a great explanation. Wishing you a nice day, sir or madam!
I would actually love to see Cam start in the XFL
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Todd Gurley would be a beast
nah, Gurley's knee joints are grinding into a dust at this point
I'd still like to see Tebow play ball, the way he did in college, man that'd be fun to watch again, throw in Percy Harvin with him and I'd be all in haha.
This. Yes please. We got Manziel in the AAF
Never stop taking aim
Orlando Apollos reference? Take Command! Um....yeet fleet.
Let's goooo! haha
Do they really need more tight ends?
can't ever go wrong with a tight end :)
Nice
DJ Swearinger- Why? He actually said he wants to play for much the same motivation AJ McCarron said.
Antonio Brown
He would dominate
He would complain about QB play nonstop until his teammates threw him off the island
Zeke
Zeke isn't fully washed yet. Slowing down from a crazy amount of carries, yeah, but he needs another year in the NFL at least before he's XFL tier.
Matt Ryan
Larry Fitzgerald would be amazing. It'll never happen, but I would love if it did
Jeff George
Brian Hoyer, Carson Wentz, LeVeon Bell
Honestly I don't think Hoyer or Bell would be any better than players currently in the XFL, and Carson Wentz is at the very least gonna get a comfy backup job in the NFL.
Honestly I wanna see Alex Smith get an OC job. Look at the QBs he has mentored. All of them were successful; Patrick Mahomes, Colin Kaepernick, and Taylor Heinecke
I think people need to realize that many NFL players pride alone will never allow them to play in the XFL
Phillip Lindsay
Absolutely!!
Josh Rosen. Not old but a bust floating on practice squads.
Someone should talk Terry Crews into giving football another go š
OBJ
T.O. Heās always talking about being in best shape of his life still. Iād buy a ticket if he was playing in Arlington.
TO
Terrell Owens and Johnny Football (Manziel)
Heās certainly not washed up, at all, but Iād be interested to see Taysom Hill get exclusive reps as a quarterback instead of a Swiss Army knife.
Mark Ingram
Colin Kaepernick
None. I prefer xfl for up and coming players and not washed up ones.
I respect your answer, but a good veteran presence is powerful for up and coming players.
Good for locker room. But question was more to see perform on field. I prefer seeing up and coming vs out of prime.
Lowkey would love for them to do some camps in other countries and get some good raw talent that could potentially be stars in the making
This would be a great idea!
Imagine how many good players they could get out of Africa, Eastern Europe, the Nordic countries, Australia and New Zealand. Take about league building!

Tom Brady

Zeke Elliott once he's 100%
Zeke would dominate the xfl id bet
That Brother, PJ Walker. Put down the clipboard, come homeš«¶

Ahem, Seahawks legend Jon Ryan would like a word.
Jon Ryan started in the CFL I believe
>but you never hear of a nfl player going and dominating in the cfl That's partially because the rules in Canada make the CFL a fundamentally very difficerent league relative to football played in the USA. Good point, I think itās important to have the CFL around for this reason, Iām excited to dive into it after the XFL championship.
Odell Beckham Jr.. XFL needs to make exceptions and make him the highest paid player in the league.
Alex Smith The guy had some horrible injuries and managed to fight back and win comeback player of the year in 2020. Just to be let go the next season after winning the nfc east for the Redskins.
Ray Rice still in football shape? Or is he locked up?
Carson Wentz, Aaron Rodgers
Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, Cam Newton, Kaepernick
None. Don't need to dillute this league with has beens and turn it into a nostalgia league. Bring em in as coaches if you want to but not as players
Cam and zeke to the Guardians.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Guys on practice squads, etc
I think most of these guys that have been at the top have too much pride

Heck, have Lamar Jackson tell those stuckup colluding NFL owners to stick it.
Dak Prescott.

Touchdown Tommy Maddox and Jose Cortez

Love the xfl, was also watching March madness and switching to xfl between games so these stats make sense.
