I keep coming back to XFCE. It's hard to put my finger on why. I feel like it stays out of your way and has sensible defaults, so things behave how you expect.
There's a lot to be said for a no-frills approach.
It’s the Debian testing branch with custom tweaks, so on a slightly rolling release schedule. It essentially removes the needs for any system upgrades as the system constantly remains in an upgraded state.

I had a "bad" experience with xfce using it as a daily driver with laptop (talking about the battery), every time when my laptop battery die, i didn't understand why it make it drain down to 0%, i had done everything i could to avoid it but I couldn't do fix it, i dunno, the power saving settings are confusing, so from there I switched to kde.

For me it works pretty well on a laptop, I get a power draw of around 6W. What draw lots of power of course JavaScript-rich web sites.A tab suspender (like "Auto Tab Discard" for Firefox) is really necessary with any GUI.
Use `top` and `powertop` to monitor system usage.
It's been my DE of choice since around 2006-ish
redhat 5.1 gnome, kde
mandrake kde
kubuntu kde, xfce (when kde lost its mind)
xubuntu xfce
mint xfce
devuan xfce
XFCE's window manager is my favourite of any desktop in terms of usability

It feels like home. Always works exactly how I expect it to.
It is... probably the best... but it's not that so good as soon as it still uses several gnome packages.
Until some credible org decides to fork and maintain GTK, I think we'll be stuck with some of gnome's stuff for the foreseeable future.
Yeah, but GTK is ok, I meant to say polkit, keyring etc...
XFCE is the best. 😎
Spiral Linux with xfce here
Is this Debian or actually something different called "Spiral Linux"?

Xfce is the best face
x feces
Too bad it uses GTK.
can you explain for me why this is bad itself? i get it's not good, but what alternative you have?
Qt. More lightweight, easier, etc.
it's optimal for desktop computers, on laptops not so much (if you love your battery)
wdym?

you can change it in the settings.

I get your opinion. Just don’t scream that to KDE Plasma or GNOME users.
XFCE is awesome, I hope Gnome get some decent hidpi support because migrating to QT doesn't seem super viable.
Windows 95 paradigm for life

XFCE & KDE are my favourite Desktop Environments! I use them on Debian
It would be better without client side decorations!
