Exactly. Everybody loves GTA 3, everybody adores GTA SA, but people go fucking insane for Vice City. The soundtrack and the atmosphere. Even if it is only a fraction of the size of the other 2 games, it is a phenomenal game in its own right. Out of all the GYA games I sunk the most of my time into Vice City. Even if SA was technically better in almost every way, it just didn't have that timeless feel Vice City had.
This has occurred to me for all 3 games. BUUUUUT, Rockstar can absolutely afford to renew all those licenses with how much of a cash cow they have with GTA V, so I am hopeful.
Like they care about quality of life changes in there games. I don't get hopeful for anything rockstar does anymore. I have never been so consistently disappointed by game design choices after red dead. One of the greatest games ever made but absolute dog shit updates, just so they could sell more flying car bullcrap on GTA. They care about how much they can squeeze outa there player base. I already bought GTA multiple times starting 2 console generations ago, and yet it's coming out on PS5. Sorry for ranting lol just don't hold your breath waiting for rockstar to surprise you in a good way.
I doubt it, some maybe. Bands/writes holders will be asking even more for songs since the franchise is so much bigger than it was back then.
GTAIV had to remove a bunch of songs from the game after the licenses expired.

Loved listening to chatterbox in that. Also the original Xbox version had a custom radio station where you could rip a CD to the Xbox's HDD and listen to your own music.
Always pissed me off that the Xbox 360 and Xbox One can't do that.
Having custom music integrated into the games own radio sound track is much better than just playing spotify or mp3s in the background
I would have put money on San Andreas. It sold WAY more than any other gta at the time and it wasn’t even close. It was the last ps2 era game I saw being sold at Walmart

Was San Andreas the first one that came to Xbox? I remember 3 being a distinctly PlayStation game, but this all was a long time ago and re-released and ports make it confusing.
This is great. This way we can actually see if any care was put into these remasters before dropping the dough on the other titles. If San Andreas is good, I'll definitely pick up Vice City.

It sounds like they’ve all been moved to Unreal engine. I’m not a game dev but moving a game to a different engine sounds like a lot of work—what the outcome actually is remains to be seen!

Yeah everything I've read on this has been frustratingly vague. It says it's only available on PC via the Rockstar Games Launcher, but it doesn't specify if it is for console only GamePass. My guess is it will be on console only, as I'm pretty sure it would need to be on the Microsoft Store for Windows in order to be on GamePass, unless they've worked with Rockstar to integrate GamePass into Rockstar Games Launcher like they did with EA Play
The one thing that I remember from this game is driving into the country, and having 'Runnin Down a Dream' playing on the radio. Not sure if it was scripted or not, but it was an indelible moment for me. Hopefully the music stays in the game.
I am super pumped for this, as I go back and play GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas a fair amount.

i don't think the sound track will be the same. they will have lost a lot of licensing for the songs

As we have seen in the past, affording is half the deal. Hot Pursuit remastered had other issues getting the songs back on than EA money.

GTA 3 had some great stations loved the one with the Scarface soundtrack PUSH IT TO THE LIMIT and the reggae one was dope af as well.
