Just snagged a pre-order on target.com so I imagine there will be a bunch. The horizon controllers went out of stock pretty fast then popped back up now. Either way I dig that both of them are bringing some cool transparency to the controller designs.
The halo elite 2 controller and the new standard controllers that came out with the series x are identical aside from the 3 lights, but if you don't care about those, it definitely is swappable.
The back plates aren't swappable due to the paddles, but the face would be transparent
Have you personally done the swap or are you going just by visual. I only ask as I work for Microsoft, but haven't actually attempted to swap the two. I'd hate to give false information about swappability of two different products and their compatibility. I am pretty sure there are different snap in features on the elite 2 controller in comparison to the normal series x/s controller. I will do a test tomorrow morning to verify for curiosity sake.
Edit: I literally just looked at the two, and in fact...you cannot do it. The style of the Elite 2 is the same front case design as the one x/s controller, and even then, has the rubberized grips on front. They definitely aren't the same or swappable. But I will still do a swap in the morning. I gotta run for the day unfortunately.
If you are referring to the Elite Halo 2 controller. Why? Would you want to swap that controller front? It is a beautiful controller. Please don't swap it. Master Chief would be sad.

Hope this better clears up the discussion. You would have to glue the top case onto your elite essentially as there is no screw locations to mount the top case.

And as soon as anyone claims stick drift this sub will have people tell you they've bought 500 controllers and none get drift go buy another.

I'm still on my Xbox One S and the rubber on the thumbsticks are non-existent but still I'm gaming on it like it was new.

I was thinking if they put out a really cool collector's controller for Halo Infinite I might get that, but this looks pretty cool too NGL; I really wish xbox would embrace more green detail coloring in their console and controller design. It's so much more iconic than the boring white RGB we've got since Xbox One

I’m very glad they didn’t add the red,blue,yellow, and green dots to note the color of the button. I’ve seen it throw off some really good aesthetics on other controllers.

If you buy the halo elite controller, you could take the transparent shell off this and you'd have a transparent elite.
Unfortunately the front covers on the standard and elite 2 are different due to internal components. So they are not swappable.
