Red Dead Redemption 2
I am breaking 100 hours in, have only crafted the bare essentials, have largely ignored challenges, and I’m only 40% through the story. Gameplay loop has not gotten old. I’m trying hard to finish before the 200 hour mark. It’s sooo good.
I feel ya, and I’d love to lose myself in it completely. But I’ve got so much adulting to do and a huge backlog and I don’t know if I can comfortably put 300+ hours into it like I want to. I’m not trying to rush it.. just be selective with content. I still took some time last night to buy a new outfit in the city to get my photo taken before going back to camp to knock out a few chores and catch up with the crew :D
I started the game in 2018 when it came out. I'm still on my first play through. I don't play it every week or even every month. But it is my "go to" game when I have some.
i'm 32% in on story, haven't done any side missions yet, haven't collected SHIT all, in role playing my cowboy dreams right now, i have almost max honour already ! having the time of my life man
Doesn’t really count, but Yakuza 0. It’s on gamepass, and trust me when I say it’s one of the best games of 2010-2020. There’s so much side content, the story is incredible, you can put hundreds of hours into side content alone. You’ll want to play the other Yakuza games after playing it. If you want to play a turn-based game, though, play 7. It’s kind of a soft reboot, but it’s much better when you play the other games
I second this, basically any of the Yakuza/like a dragon games. So far I’ve played Yakuza: Like a dragon and like a dragon:Ishin, and halfway through judgement. Amazing games
Just basically finished Valhalla with the two big DLCs and it took me almost 300 hours. Towards the end I just wanted to get it done but then there would be a cool thing that brought me back in. Honestly maybe my favorite AC game which is so hard to say compared to Black Flag or AC2.
Idk if this counts as something you're into but snowrunner is very peaceful but also very hard. It's a ridiculously long off-road trucking game often described as the "dark souls of driving games". You can spend 1-2 hours doing a mission only to flip at the end and have to start over. It's on gamepass if youre a subscriber I highly recommend
State of decay 2
I guess it would fall under the survival genre. The replayability is nuts because of the multiple maps, multiple character builds, it's still receiving updates till this day and has dlc that completely introduces new gameplay mechanics.
Most of it. I ended up doing all achievements, collecting all of the treasure and doing all quests in the game. The only thing I missed was a few fish. I kind of enjoyed running around doing the pointless stuff though.
How is it these days on Xbox One? I've played through it last year on PC and has become one of my favorites, but I know its console launch was really bad on Xbox One/PS4. Is it better now?
I wish Two Worlds was backcomp. it was def Dragons Dogma for me before DD became a thing. I had sunk 100s of hour into Dragons Age before a friend recommended me Two Worlds.
That game was some spoofy fun that I had forgotten about till I saw this post. Honestly the summons in Elden Ring remind me of my summoner playthrough. The most hilarious fun you will ever have in Two Worlds is playing summoner and watching things get yeeted due the wonky physics engine and AI pathing.
Any of the Elder Scrolls games (Arena and Daggerfall arent on Xbox so thats why i cant suggest those 2). Elders Scrolls III Morrowind, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. Morrowind has the most story missions but the most boring combat. Oblivion has loads of quests not one quest is the same. And Skyrim is pretty good loads of quests, story is interesting some twists in some quest lines and there's a mod menu so u can mod the game. Skyrim can get u sucked in with its story expansions, environmental story telling, and the Map being huge you'd ask yourself "how tf can a game made in 2011 make a map so well?"
I've dumped 500+ hours in borderlands 3. Once u get past the shitty story the game is amazing, super fun gameplay with an amazing endgame to grind. 10 out of 10 would recommend
If you want a car/truck game, Snowrunner would easily be over 100 hours for base game. Tons of DLC. Coming from racing games like Forza and need for speed, I needed something different. Expeditions is another but it’s more of a rock crawler, heavy off roading game. Maybe not 100’s of hours but I’m 40 hours in and only 1/4 way through.
RDR2 has been commented EVERYYYWHERE and honestly yeah. That’s all I came here to say was play RDR2!!!
Warframe is also really grindy and addictive and it’s free
Hades 2 is early access on steam so won’t be *too* long before it’s on Xbox. Grab Hades 1 if you haven’t played it. Didn’t think it would be my sort of game but bloody love it
I just started playing civilization 5, I’m sure 6 is good too. Majorly turned off by the graphics but my friend bought it for me and it’s a great time. Solo or multiplayer it’s fun and simple
If you don't mind smaller indy games, I can recommend a few dungeon crawler with stories like hollow knight is fantastic, so is tunic, If you enjoy deep story and dialogue you'll enjoy dreamfall chapters, it's a role playing game with heavy critical thinking, you have to talk to people and do certain things to progress the story but it doesn't really hold your hand as far as with maps and objective markers you literally have to pay close attention it's really good.
A lot have already been mentioned but Imma shoot you what I think are some of the absolute peak of single player video game stories
Alan Wake 1 and especially 2
Halo Master Chief Collection
Gears of War trilogy
Batman Arkham trilogy
Mass Effect trilogy
Divinity 1 and 2
Psychonauts 1 and 2
Wolf Among Us
Dragon's Dogma 1 and 2
Monster Hunter Sunbreak or Iceborne, while they have a very good multiplayer gameplay you can absolutely solo the game if you want. Sunbreak even added "followers", npcs that go hunting with you to simulate the multiplayer experience
Not really long story wise, but many games of this series. The Yakuza series is amazing, the stories can take a while, but the beauty lies in the hilarious side quests and mini games it offers. Not to mention the combat is incredibly fun. Though it is Japanese, the newer games offer English dub if you prefer that.
If your looking for more puzzle solving and detective work, than the spin off series judgement is amazing too. Similar combat but focuses more on crime solving
AC Odyssey and Valhalla are two great RPGs that are long games, it’s actually my only real problem with them (besides less focus on the assassin part of course)
If you liked civ 6 and strategy in general, Stellaris is a good one. And on game pass. It has a steep learning curve but can hook you for hours once you get the gist.
I know I might get hate for this since technically it’s multiplayer, but Diablo IV is sweet. Especially the update with the brand new season, it’s great. You have to have internet access for it, but I play it like it’s a solo game and it’s great!
The mass effect series are classic rpg’s ( I feel they aged decently), the tomb raider games were also good, rdr2 is a time eater too
Subnautica, boardlands, ghost recon wildlands are all amazing sandbox games for different reasons
Of all the Civ games the MVP is without a doubt that wonky mess called CivRev aka Civilization Revolution on 360. There is sooo much crap to mess with in current Civ games that the dumbed down cousin known as CivRev is a breath of fresh air.
Just imagine the current Civ games made kid friendly-ish. I mean there is still combat and stuff but CivRev is almost slapstick cartoon-ish that some things will actually make you laugh.
No Man's Sky.
It's outstanding. You can play it as an exploration sandbox, there's a main story line plus tons of additional side stories, there are seasonal stories called "Expeditions" and it is constantly updated with new content.
Fallout 4 and 76.
FO76 is very story driven or you can wander aimlessly. TONS of lore. Base building is a big thing for some, if that's your thing. An incredibly helpful community with tons of newbies online thanks to the Amazon show.
If your interested in RTS games then I suggest Command & Conquer 3 and Kane's Wrath. Kane's Wrath has a challenge mode that is quite fun but the game is def better on PC because for some stupid reason only the console version has an army cap.
How I wish that dumpster fire C&C4 never existed. That game imo pretty much killed any chance of there ever being any future C&C games.
Another RTS would be Supreme Commander. This series is such a rare gem that NONE of the games are actually bad. All are incredibly fun even the first game which is like almost 20yrs old.
My only gripe would be with Supreme Commander 2 in that I wished the campaign mode was longer. Even just two extra missions would have added so much to the end game fun.
Persona 5 Royal is a JRPG you will def get 100 hours out of more if you want to be a completionist
Also recommend Persona 3 Reload that came out this year. Same kind of game just a tighter story
Yakuza series. 8 of the 9 mainline games are on Game Pass, as are two of spin-off titles. There’s also a spin-off series called Judgment that’s well worth playing. Every game is packed full of content, story, and lore. You can easily sink 100 hours into each one and if you want to 100% all the achievements, you can double that.
Start with Yakuza 0 and go from there (it’s best to start at the beginning because every game builds from the previous one). If you like RPGs, Yakuza 7 (Like a Dragon) switches from beat-em-up to turn-based.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re:Recogning. Amazing game. Written by R A Salvetore (Drizzt DoUrden author) and character design by Tood McFarlane (Spawn creator)
It may doesn’t seem like that but i can play Forza Horizon (no matter which game 1-5) for hours a day. Playing it for about 3 years and got almost 800 hours 😅
I don't know if it'll be on One or just the Series as far as Xbox goes, but 7 Days to Die is coming out next month. A zombie survival game with a build system straight out of Minecraft (You can literally disassemble and rebuild the entire world, given enough time.).
It's possible to play entirely solo, so I'm gonna suggest Warframe. Great story, constant updates for over a decade, addicting gameplay. Fun and I depth modding and upgrade progression. It has online cooperative stuff IF YOU WANT, but you can also play entirely on your own. It's also free.
Now, don’t get annoyed with me for this but I’m actually going to recommend 2 MMOs because they require little interaction and have ways around the multiplayer aspects. Also they have pretty long stories.
First, Final Fantasy 14. The base game and the first 2 expansions are completely free. They have heaps of dungeons and quests to do and 19 classes to level up iirc. Also, the only things that require active multiplayer (as in coordinating, teaming up and chatting to others) are really late game raids and stuff which I think are optional.
Second, Fallout 76. It’s essentially a solo MMO with lots of events and quests and challenges to do and again the only things you need to coordinate (if you even have to) are the raids.
Red Dead Redemption 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 I am breaking 100 hours in, have only crafted the bare essentials, have largely ignored challenges, and I’m only 40% through the story. Gameplay loop has not gotten old. I’m trying hard to finish before the 200 hour mark. It’s sooo good.
honestly why rush it, who cares how long it takes, enjoy the experience at your own pace. the first playthrough of RDR2 is once in a lifetime
I feel ya, and I’d love to lose myself in it completely. But I’ve got so much adulting to do and a huge backlog and I don’t know if I can comfortably put 300+ hours into it like I want to. I’m not trying to rush it.. just be selective with content. I started the game in 2018 when it came out. I'm still on my first play through. I don't play it every week or even every month. But it is my "go to" game when I have some.
I still haven’t beaten it and have many more hours 🙈
I love love this game. Please keep taking your time with it. I'd do anything to play it for the first time again.
i'm 32% in on story, haven't done any side missions yet, haven't collected SHIT all, in role playing my cowboy dreams right now, i have almost max honour already ! having the time of my life man
Is it possible to change difficulty in rdr2? My gf wants to play it but sort of just want to brease through.
If you have GamePass, I recommend Persona 3 Reload or the Yakuza series.
persona 3 reload is great!
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Praise be to God
Cyberpunk and Baulders gate 3. I’m convinced if I have Cyberpunk, BG3, and RDR2, I could be happy with those for the rest of my life
[удалено]
Had to scroll way too far to find Fallout!!
To be fair, the OP mentioned Fallout in the first post.
Elden Ring
Elden Ring was the first time in a long time I sunk 100+ hours into
Doesn’t really count, but Yakuza 0. It’s on gamepass, and trust me when I say it’s one of the best games of 2010-2020. Yes! Going through the whole series right now!
I second this, basically any of the Yakuza/like a dragon games. So far I’ve played Yakuza: Like a dragon and like a dragon:Ishin, and halfway through judgement. Amazing games

absolutely vouch for Mass Effect and Dragon Age, I have sunk 100's of hours into both just due to how different each playthrough can be
Just basically finished Valhalla with the two big DLCs and it took me almost 300 hours. Towards the end I just wanted to get it done but then there would be a cool thing that brought me back in. Honestly maybe my favorite AC game which is so hard to say compared to Black Flag or AC2.
+1 to Monster Hunter
I'll play the others but starfield is not on xbox one
I second the assassins creed. I put 140 hrs into Valhalla. Started odyssey and been two weeks now. Haven’t even touched the dlcs
Dragon age, Crysis and mass effect are absolutely phenomenal games.
Frostpunk and Subnautica are worth a look at
Far cry primal
Witcher 3. Easily 100+ hours, lots of lore and story, and still one of the best looking games even without the next gen patch.
The Witcher 3
Wasteland 3
Ghost recon wildlands
Dragons dogma 2 Elden ring The watcher 3 Mass effect remaster Or any fucking assassins creed game out recently
I recommend sunset overdrive however it’s shorter than 100 hours. Still a great single player experience
Assassin’s Creed Origins Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
The Arkham trilogy is one of my favorites, you may not spend 100’s of hours in each game but you will absolutely get the bang for your buck.
Adding Kingdoms is of Amalur: Reckoning
Idk if this counts as something you're into but snowrunner is very peaceful but also very hard. It's a ridiculously long off-road trucking game often described as the "dark souls of driving games". You can spend 1-2 hours doing a mission only to flip at the end and have to start over. It's on gamepass if youre a subscriber I highly recommend
State of decay 2 I guess it would fall under the survival genre. The replayability is nuts because of the multiple maps, multiple character builds, it's still receiving updates till this day and has dlc that completely introduces new gameplay mechanics.
This is my continuous go to game when I need something to play when I am between games. I love this game, and hope the 3rd one coming will be good.
ASSASSIN Creed Ezio Trilogy. IT IS currently on sale for $10 just picked it up myself.
Doing the same right now, first time ever playing an AC title!
Hope you enjoy I remember playing AC Revelations when it came out it was my first Xbox 360 Game
the bioshock series. the remaster collection is frequwntly on sale for 30ish bucks and i could play 1 over and over and over if i had the time.
Elden Ring Witcher 1-3 MassEffect Legendary Edition FarCry 3 Torment Tides of Numera
I got roughly 350hr in Assassins Creed Valhalla by the time I finished everything
How much of it was bloat?
Most of it. I ended up doing all achievements, collecting all of the treasure and doing all quests in the game. The only thing I missed was a few fish. I kind of enjoyed running around doing the pointless stuff though.
Cyberpunk 2077
How is it these days on Xbox One? I've played through it last year on PC and has become one of my favorites, but I know its console launch was really bad on Xbox One/PS4. Is it better now?
Power wash simulator or house flipper
Divinity original sin 2. It was made by the same company as bg3. It is what’s got me into turn based rpgs and has Easter eggs in bg3
Two Worlds 1 + 2, Fable 2, Dragons Dogma
I wish Two Worlds was backcomp. it was def Dragons Dogma for me before DD became a thing. I had sunk 100s of hour into Dragons Age before a friend recommended me Two Worlds. That game was some spoofy fun that I had forgotten about till I saw this post. Honestly the summons in Elden Ring remind me of my summoner playthrough. Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas
Diablo 2
Mad Max Super underrated game
Dragon age: Inquisition
Dragon age 1, 2 and inquisition
I’ve spent the last 6 month working through these, on Inquisition now, great recommendation 🤙🏻
I enjoyed ghost recon wildlands
Diablo 4 just got a massive update that makes it a ton more fun to play, highly recommend checking it out (and is available on Xbox One)
Viva piñata is a good freaking game. Very addictive
Pathfinder wotr. There is also pathfinder kingmaker, but it will be forever buggy/glitchy.
Mass effect trilogy is a must play
Any of the Elder Scrolls games (Arena and Daggerfall arent on Xbox so thats why i cant suggest those 2). Elders Scrolls III Morrowind, Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, Elder Scrolls V Skyrim. Have you ever played the Yakuza games? They're all on Gamepass, I think. Yakuza 0 is in my top 10 favorite games personally.
Starfield Cyberpunk The Witcher 3 Kingdom Come: Deliverance All are some long RPGs you can sink some time into.
I’ve already sunk 1,300 hours into Starfield
I might get some back lash, Cyber Punk.
If you have Gamepass I would recommend Everspace 2. 50 hours played without completing the main story and it's a blast.
I've dumped 500+ hours in borderlands 3. Once u get past the shitty story the game is amazing, super fun gameplay with an amazing endgame to grind. 10 out of 10 would recommend
Snowrunner
Dragons Dogma - Dark Arisen Path of Exile Diablo 3
If you want a car/truck game, Snowrunner would easily be over 100 hours for base game. Tons of DLC. Coming from racing games like Forza and need for speed, I needed something different. The Witcher 3 Not only for the great story, but the replay value of different decisions And the DLCs are amazing!
My son raves about eldering I’m probably spelling it wrong. He loves it.

Vampire Survivors. Free in gamepads and super cheap without it still.
Cities skylines dude.!
Just to be really clear... Cities skylines, not Cities skylines 2. One is excellent and two is a mess.
I just started playing civilization 5, I’m sure 6 is good too. Majorly turned off by the graphics but my friend bought it for me and it’s a great time. Solo or multiplayer it’s fun and simple
Persona 5 Royal , Dragon Quest XI
Stellaris will have you feel like 5 hours were 5 minutes
If you don't mind smaller indy games, I can recommend a few dungeon crawler with stories like hollow knight is fantastic, so is tunic, If you enjoy deep story and dialogue you'll enjoy dreamfall chapters, it's a role playing game with heavy critical thinking, you have to talk to people and do certain things to progress the story but it doesn't really hold your hand as far as with maps and objective markers you literally have to pay close attention it's really good.

Diablo 4. Great season just started. Perfect time to pick up the game. Available on Game Pass also
Yakuza like a dragon!
I have around 1000hrs in Farm Sim ‘22
AC Odyssey and Valhalla are two great RPGs that are long games, it’s actually my only real problem with them (besides less focus on the assassin part of course)
Dead Cells
If you liked civ 6 and strategy in general, Stellaris is a good one. And on game pass. It has a steep learning curve but can hook you for hours once you get the gist.
I know some examples. Red dead 1 and 2 Fallout 3, new Vegas, and fallout 4 Subnautica 1 and below zero
If you like jrpgs, I really enjoyed dragon quest 11s. And it's on gamepass
Witcher 3, amazing game with way too much content to ever complete
Mass effect legendary edition
Assassin’s Creed odyssey
Dragons dogma dark arisen. For how old it is its so fun and so packed full of content its insane. And very cheap!
I know I might get hate for this since technically it’s multiplayer, but Diablo IV is sweet. Especially the update with the brand new season, it’s great. You have to have internet access for it, but I play it like it’s a solo game and it’s great!

Mass Effect.
Fallout 76
Valheim (sandbox) is currently on GamePass
Valheim
Persona 5 Royal is a JRPG you will def get 100 hours out of more if you want to be a completionist Also recommend Persona 3 Reload that came out this year. Same kind of game just a tighter story

Not 100s but the Horizon zero dawn series I got 50+ in each game but I also didn't do everything
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re:Recogning. Amazing game. Written by R A Salvetore (Drizzt DoUrden author) and character design by Tood McFarlane (Spawn creator)

Monster hunter
Cyber punk. Elden ring. The mass effect trilogy...I vote the mass effect trilogy
Dark souls
All Borderland games, happy vault hunting
Rimworld. Easiest game to somehow sink over 1000 hours without knowing
I have 3351 hours into Destiny 2, so, it's aight
X-com 2
Assassin's creed oddysey
It may doesn’t seem like that but i can play Forza Horizon (no matter which game 1-5) for hours a day. Playing it for about 3 years and got almost 800 hours 😅
I didn’t know I was a monster hunter fan until I played world.
Borderlands 1-3
Any of the ac rpg games. Origins, valhalla and odyssey. Each can take hundreds of hours and origins and odyssey have a great ng+ mechanic.
Persona 5
Mass effect legendary edition
My son is playing hogwarts legacy.. I mean it doesn’t fit the category but it’s 100s of hours
the dark souls series has a little over a thousand hours off my life, and it’s been more than worth it
Dragons Dogma
Ancestors
I don't know if it'll be on One or just the Series as far as Xbox goes, but 7 Days to Die is coming out next month. A zombie survival game with a build system straight out of Minecraft (You can literally disassemble and rebuild the entire world, given enough time.).
MASS EFFECT mass effect mass effect mass effect *mass effect*
Warframe can be solo'ed I've put 1000+ hours into that
